Randy over at Funk It! does some amazing videography work and this might be his best yet - a 16-minute video that manages to blow through 26 different performances from the 2011 Bear Creek Music Festival. Apparently Mr. Funk It managed to capture over 14 hours of footage from the weekend so expect a lot [...]

Recommended Show: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2011 THE COUP & JAPANTHER @ BROOKLYN BOWL 61 Wythe Ave Brooklyn, NY 11211 $8, 9PM This certainly seems like an interesting pairing for a show. Teaming political hip-hoppers The Coup with noisy hipsters Japanther just seems like an amazing idea. Listening to the tightness of Coup Couroux 's staccato Strokes-esque songs with some synth flourishes and the sultry voice of frontman Simon Lowe, it's really no surprise that the buzz surrounding this local electronic pop project is picking up steam. After all, not only did the band win last year's Beta Hi-Fi Festival, which brings together a serious batch of local talent and whittles them down to the best and brightest, but they also snagged the title of the Deli's Featured Artist(s) Poll Winners for September (read our interview with Coup Couroux HERE ). And tonight, they'll open [...]

Coup Couroux are no strangers to winning. They emerged victorious in last year's Beta Hi-Fi competition at World Café Live, and just recently won our Featured Artist(s) Poll. We had a chance to throw our get-to-know-you questions at the band so check out HERE the story of their somewhat mythical beginnings as well as the band's likes and dislikes that includes Philly's infamous problem with chicken bones (which also ranks at the top of our list of things we hate about Philly). They'll be performing next in town on September 10 at Kung Fu Necktie. [...]
Coup Couroux is an electronica- and pop-influenced quartet with dance-rock flair. The band recently released its four-song self-titled EP (which you can download here ). Coup Couroux includes lead vocalist and guitarist Simon Lowe, Hyatt Morrill on bass, Tyler Hayduk on keyboards and syntheziers, and Nathan Lackey on drums. Several of the EP's tracks were produced by DJ Afro (Jose Luis Pardo) of the Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles. The band performs on Saturday, September 10th, at Kung Fu Necktie . Listen to a couple of songs from the band's EP below.
Inspired Flight and The Coup take center stage at The Independent in San Francisco.
We've no doubt Volvo's new trophy cabinet is built solidly from sustainable wood and leather you thought the volvo c70 coupe data, especially in top turbo T6 petrol engine that had never been seen in a drag race, at least they are in the used volvo c70 coupe but it's different in virtually every other respect. Having its flat tyre repaired and generally not being as economical as we'd hoped it would be. It's not exactly being uneconomical, but when its official combined consumption figure of 104g/km and an official combined consumption figure of 151g/km is also well [...]

Young Philly indie-dance-rock group Coup Couroux first began attracting attention after winning the Beta Hi-Fi Festival last fall. The band is comprised of four longtime musicians; bassist Hyatt Morrill has been playing gigs in bars with his father's band since he was 15, singer/guitarist Simon Lowe is totally self-taught, drummer Nate Lackey is a classically trained pianist, and keyboardist Tyler Hayduk plays with several side projects, including The Classic Hunt. The group has just finished recording their first EP, which features three tracks that were produced by DJ Afro of Grammy-nominated Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles. [...]
Although a lot of radical musicians talk the talk, few walk the walk like Boots Riley. Riley has been the driving force behind hip hop group The Coup for almost 20 years, weaving dense, but playful, rhymes that address everything from killing CEO's to having broken down cars to George Bush and Saddam Hussein's "special friendship." He's also the mouth piece for the politically charged Street Sweeper Social Club, Tom Morello's current hard rock group. In addition, he just recently laid down a guest verse on the upcoming Star Fucking Hipsters album. But, in addition to [...]
Curren$y is just so damn cool, wouldn't you agree? There's hardly reason to ask, you're damn right he is. Having spent most of his career overlooked and underexposed on labels that thought they had grander things going on than the New Orleans MC. Sharing birthplaces with its leader did Curren$y little good on Young Money, and he again found himself packing his bags. The chilled, sublimely independent rapper that indie fans love today has little in common with his prior incarnations. While on majors he fulfilled that role that's most easily attained: a glorified hype man, existing in [...]

ShartNasty's back in the building after an long overdue dry spell and a dope easter break. WESTLACNCT proudly presents Curren$y 's latest project (all beats by The Alchemist) Covert Coup that dropped this past 4/20! We featured a few of the leaked tracks prior to its release, and I'm stoked to say that the rest of the tracks are just as ill. Be sure to download it here ! Curren$y- Scottie Pippens ft. We all know Curren$y as a New Orleans-based weed rapper, but the whole weed rapper thing seems to be a growing phenomenon lately, and the term can be applied to many different rappers from Wiz Khalifa to Snoop . They all like to rap about their favorite substance and the lifestyle that goes along with it, but besides that they don't have much in common. So let's not call Curren$y a weed rapper. Let's just call him a damn talented rapper who's on a roll right now. [...]
