The stars in the celestial sphere have aligned if only for a moment to form an indie dream trio, with the Sisters Crutchfield (of Swearin' and Waxahatchee ) covering the preeminent future-pop queen Grimes . Their version of "Oblivion" uses garage rock silly putty to pull the tune right off Grimes' funny pages, and while it's a little more rough-edged than Claire Boucher's original, it picks up all of the specifics that made the original one of our favorites of 2012. The Lab TV recently brought together two singer-songwriters from opposite sides of the globe, London's Laura Marling and Los Angeles' Eddie Berman , and squared them away inside a California recording studio to let them do their proverbial musical thing. Accompanied by little more than an acoustic guitar, the two performed their own rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" effectively turning the 1984 powerhouse rock hit into a soft-spoken, soul-soother.
