Photos by PremierLife.ca I managed to grab a few moments the other night at Tent Party with Daniel Riots from the electro/house sensation LA Riots. Before a great show we managed to talk about new music, partying, different genres, kids tweaking out, and most importantly; what percent of milk he drinks. [This is Ear-milk after all.] EARMILK: So first off, what genre of music do you think your sound is? LA RIOTS: Thats a hard question. [...]
The current volume of local music is staggering. New Houston bands are born daily, and all too often pass away just as quickly. Rocks Off wants to help you (and ourselves) keep up. Here's how t... Over the past few weeks, Northeast Baltimore has been hit with a rash of break-ins in both Hampden and Remington. In Remington, the community association Remington Neighborhood Alliance is distributing flyers like the one below, with a list of advice. Neighbors are reporting that these break-ins, at least the ones in Remington, are happening in the daytime, with the robbers accessing through open and/or unlocked back windows and doors and going after easy to carry electronics and any cash that migth be sitting around. Vigilance!

LAZRtag never lets me down. I get all giddy-girl whenever I hear they're releasing a new track and this one is a banger. Readers, if you're not familiar- please meet Vinh Chung and Erik Addison, also known as your friendly neighborhood LAZRtag. You may have heard of Vinh under his previous pseudonym, Luvtek. Though I wish I could say that I knew of these dudes back in the day when they started making electronic magic, but the last year I've spent following their hijinx I have never been let down. Mastering the art of progressive house and using the slight of [...]

~ mediafired - "Cinderella's Big Score" ~ A weird, possibly frustrating song for some but I love it (although it wouldn't hurt shaving off a minute or two at the end). It samples bits of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" (a personal favorite of mine) which it warps and twists around, making it sound like a bunch of drunken ghosts having a gathering. No, really. Completely awesome. So of course I found it via BEKO DSL . ~ Dream Band - "Mr Shaking And Pills To Judge" ~ [...]

~ The Chain Gang of 1974 - "Hold On" ~ From the album White Guts , which no doubt is one of - if not the - best dance album of the year. This one clocks in an impressive 8 minutes but it still doesn't feel very long. Why? Because it's just that awesome. ~ Eleanor Murray - "The Whale" ~ Ah, the lovely Eleanor Murray. A guitar, a violin and that shaky, fragile vibrato in her voice is pretty much all she needs to create magic, as this [...]

~ Pretty Lights - "Still Night" ~ Smooth chill/trip-hop (or 'electro hip hop soul', whatever frankly) track that should be used on some flashy runway. Not that I know anything about fashion, but I bet it would be cool. From the album Glowing In The Darkest Night which - except for this song - didn't leave much of an impression on me. ~ He's My Brother, She's My Sister - "How'm I Gonna Get Back Home" ~ Infectious folk-country that I can't help but bop along [...]

When it comes to Crystal Castles you just have two choices. Either you are totally into their experimental electronic style or you think it's the worst kind of music you have ever heard in your entire live. As for my part I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of their music and I can't wait to see them live at Munich in the mid of November. So for now, I give you their latest single with a couple of remixes and my favourite remix of a Crystal Castles track. By the way, for all [...]

~ Broken Records - "You Know You're Not Dead" ~ Scottish indie-folk. Not much else to say really. Good song, pretty good album ( Let Me Come Home ). My favorite part of this track is the falsetto in the chorus and the contrast between electric guitars and pretty violins. Plus it's always nice to know I'm not dead. Yet. ~ Former Ghosts - "Only In Time" ~ Yes, that is Nika Roza Danilova of Zola Jesus singing. Besides her Former Ghosts are comprised of Freddy Ruppert, Jamie [...]

by teepoo What do you think of their new self-titled album Interpol ? I wrote a review of my thoughts earlier. If you bought the real version of the album you probably don't have this iTunes only track so I decided to give it away because I don't believe in iTunes monopolizing everything. Interpol- Crimewaves

~ Pinkshinyultrablast - "Blaster" ~ And we're off! While dreamy and shimmering as any other shoegaze/post-rock/whatever you want to label this, this track certainly lives up to its name as it blasts off right from the beginning. Sharp and soft at the same time. ~ Lissie - "Wedding Bells" ~ While I like her album Catching a Tiger , I find it a bit too slick and controlled at times. This track however sounds much more stripped and - dare I say? - real. It's simple yet [...]

Whilst yesteryear's Get Color may have provided an ingenuously suffocating aural onslaught to match even the most metallic of Lou Reed's industrialised deviations, a remixed, rehashed and reworked spin-off, particularly of a HEALTH opus, may not pertain to the same level of intoxication, at least superficially. For the remix record inherently breeds a mental blockade consisting of a vehement scepticism, nigh on impossible to bash down. Take Lady Gaga; an incalculable number of millions of records down the line and not only has she remade/ remodelled her one and only long player to date but she's segued any [...]

~ Sugar Army - "Tongues In Cheeks" ~ Nice surprise from Australia. Quality alternative rock with good hooks and melodies, and the singer has a voice that stands out. From their debut The Parallels Amongst Ourselves . ~ Low Sea - "Save My Soul" ~ A lazy, hazy shoegaze tune that feels like a cool breeze on a day as hot as this. From the Irish duo's album Las Olas . ~ Pascal Pinon - "I Wrote a Song" ~ [...]

~ First Aid Kit - "Hard Believer" ~ Though they're usually dubbed as folk I think this song has more elements of alt country, which for a Swedish band should be completely wrong but this is gorgeous in so, so many ways. ~ David Cronenberg's Wife - "Sweden" ~ I might as well admit that it was their name that initially made me curious. Slightly bizarre and the lyrics are pretty much just spoken yet it manages to be a pretty catchy tune. Their song "My Best Friend's [...]

myess crystal castles are back in their always over the top you-had-better-like-my-screamo -electro-or-die. no but foreals being somewhere around the starting of harmonic enjoyable crossover electronic crystal castles cemented themselves as a respectable duo playing both live and creating electro-pieces in the studio. it's only taken a few years but crystal are back with a new single 'doe deer' (out April 17th), releasing an lp and touring stateside. as a bit of a who-har two previously unreleased licks of classic castle track 'crimewave' and 'untrust us' by midnight conspiracy and [...]

Crystal Castles , Blondie , and The Maccabees have all been added to the line-up for this year's Rockness Festival . Also added to the bill for the three-day bash are Fergie and Tinie Tempha . This years festival is set to be headlined by The Strokes and Pendulum and will take place in Scotland at Clune Farm, Dores from June 11-13. ~ Paul and the Patients - "Tiny Red Light" ~ A very good song, but perhaps a bit too commercial as I instantly can imagine it being used in any prime time American teen drama (maybe it already has, what do I know?). But since I like it very much, I'll overlook that. Nice contrast between male and female vocals. Kinda Snow Patrol-ish? ~ Mirrors - "Look At Me" ~ This is so deliciously 80's New Romantic to me. And this trio hails from the home of New [...]

~ PNAU feat. Ladyhawke - "Embrace" ( Fredrick Carlsson Epic Mix) ~ Is there such a thing as sci-fi pop? Well, if not then that's what I'm dubbing this. The synthesizers make me think of a spaceship so if they were to make a video of this version, that's where it would take place: on a cool spaceship with white interior. The song was great to being with but I really like what Carlsson did with it. It is indeed rather epic. ~ Terribly Empty Pockets - [...]

Relatively new producer Mechanical Resistance from Toulouse, France knows how to make heavy banging electro. He lives up to his name by using mechanical grinding bass thus creating absolute stonkers.
