The second time around for a musician is always a difficult journey, fraught with the tension between discovery and resting on one's laurels. Temptation awaits those without the gumption to press forward, practically begging the artist to repeat the formula that was such a success to begin with. Mount Kimbie , the post-dubstep duo of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos , were the toast of the music world in 2010, receiving accolade after accolade for their debut Crooks & Lovers . Instead of repeating that album's airy [...]

Whenever I wonder of Hotflush Recordings , I think to the robotically articulated tag plastered across the promo version I once had of Mount Kimbie's to this day amazing Crooks & Lovers LP of 2010 when really, I ought to recur to consummately bass-hefty house. These are things I know relatively little of, truth be known – I know what I like, and I like what I know ; I love Sónar. But other than that, I've only an elementary cognition of the unending permutations of dance music. Though as two of [...]

UK's ambient electronic duo Mount Kimbie have finally announced the details for their upcoming sophomore release Cold Spring Fault Less Youth on Warp Records . Cold Spring Fault Less Youth is the long awaited follow-up to their 2010 debut Crooks & Lovers and will feature 11 songs, including two collaborated tracks with British crooner King Krule . Here's the first cut from the new album, a fresh track entitled "Made to Stray": Cold Spring Fault Less Youth is due out [...]
It's been a fair old while since Mount Kimbie released Crooks & Lovers . So long; too long. And much has changed in the interim, perhaps more so for the London duo comprising Kai Campos and Dominic Maker than most, as they've since joined forces with revered electronica mainstay Warp . Perfect fit, eh? It was last autumn they were last seen about these parts, as they brought The Front Room of the Southbank Centre to a muggy standstill on the Saturday night of Ether. Excellent they were too, as they aired a [...]

Fresh off the plane from a three month work stint in America I was asked by The Recommender if I wanted to cover Field Day in their absence. I figured that this would be a suitable reintroduction to London and it’s diverse music scene. Besides, half the people in the audience looked like they thought [...]
Tweet Almost two weeks ago to the DAY! I posted "Baves Chords" , the lead track from Mount Kimbie's upcoming "Carbonated" EP, and thanks to BBC Radio's Gilles Peterson we have a radio rip of another new joint from the EP. On an EP with mostly remixes and only two new tunes, "Flux" is probably the extent of anymore new studio-recorded songs we'll hear in the run-up to the EP launch. Where the title track of the EP, previously heard on their stunning [...]

With he dust unearthed by Crooks & Lovers now settled, producer-duo Mount Kimbie are beginning to think about releasing new material. Their new Carbonated EP is set to drop on June 27. Although the single clearly isn’t new, it does feature some remixes from the likes of Airhead, Peter Van Hoesen, and Klaus as well as the track Baves Chords from way back in 2009. Check it out bellow.

Mount Kimbie - Baves Chords With Crooks & Lovers still being played out as prominently as it's initial release back in summer of 2010, and undoubtedly being one of the best LP's... well, ever, Brit's Dom Maker and Kai Campos ( Mount Kimbie ) have set their next release to drop this June, and it's safe to say we are oh-so-excited here at the rebel camp. The release will be headed by their "Carbonated" single, along with remixes from Airhead , Peter Van Hoesen , and Klaus, and the two other tracks, 'Baves Chords' and 'Flux.' But [...]
Tweet Well....it's not entirely new. But it's new, as in, coming out soon, officially, kinda? Left off of their immense debut album "Crooks & Lovers", it was an unreleased track from 2008, this time around being reworked as part of a new Mount Kimbie EP called "Carbonated", out on June 27th. The EP will have the below track, an unreleased track as well as some remixes of "Carbonated" by Airhead, Peter Van Hoesen, as well a remix of "Adriatic" [...]

Mount Kimbie's debut Crooks and Lovers record earned stellar reviews and was heralded by some tastemakers as the electronica album of 2010. The record was a kaleidescope of live instruments and shuffling percussion with elements of jazz, rock and roll, dubstep and hip hop adding to the colourful soundscape. I was fortunate enough to have a chat with Kai, one half of the band, ahead of their Australian tour. I tried calling you this time last week but you were in a cottage in the middle of nowhere without reception, recording new material. [...]
Ahh yes, Mount Kimbie , the epitome of British electronic music in 2010, not only expressed through their live sets but through the sheer amount of music produced by these two. Dom and Kai are wrapping up the new year nicely with a video for their single "Before I Move Off," off the iconic Crooks & Lovers LP . Music video directed by Tyrone Lebon .

So as 2010 winds to a close (not before Xmas/my birthday!!) and 2011 comes into view it's time for the old blogaroo to name the best albums of the year. Here goes. 13. Massive Attack - Heligoland This one kinda came out of left field for me. Paid absolutely fuck all attention to it around the release date and it probably would've slid under the rug were it not for True Blood using one of the songs from it ('Paradise Circus') in a key scene . I had to [...]

i've not had a saturday evening like this in quite a while, lounging at home and taking things a little slower. the rain has just arrived, along with it a welcome cool breeze and a diligent descending of raindrops at my window. it blends seamlessly with what i'm listening to now - mount kimbie 's debut album crooks & lovers - especially tonight when i'm using my open-ear headphones. i really enjoy how the music just breathes so much more, hearing the rain fill in the gaps, sometimes even adding onto the textures as it does when [...]
Dentist's should have this album playing on surround sound while they fuck about with your teeth. Who cares if they eventually get sick of it, I'm having my damn molars ripped out here. There is little to be said about this superb album that hasn't been said already; even the Telegraph admitted it was bloody brilliant and it's not often they use naughty words or have a clue what's going on with people under the age of 52. The album is made up of tracks right, and those tracks are made up of drums and bass and beeps [...]

Mount Kimbie – Crooks & Lovers (Hotflush Recordings 2010) [ Vinyl | Digital ] The U.K. society of bass stretches far beyond the bounds of audible range; one can rummage through countless tunes, sub-genres and genres until the brain just shuts down from low-frequency exhaustion. It’s a fruitful time for sure, as we have artists like Mount Kimbie providing a sound that’s so natural and so organic to their musical climate that people get drawn in and never come out thinking about music the same way. The [...]
