Close-up on the pores and unkempt face hairs and teeth of a guy singing a garage rock song, drinking from a bottle, maybe about to leak blood from his lips, maybe not. It's a natural song with a natural face. The recording of this catchy tune is much cleaner than the protagonist's underwear, dontchabet? Random Patterns reveals new songs and there's cowbell involved. Known for its parts and progressions and long jams, the band explores (or records) itself in a new way here on "Cans All Day." Merle Haggard is putting out a new album this October with Vanguard Records. Below, get a free download of the title track, "Working In Tennessee," an upbeat, happy, swinging tune that sounds grudge-free but, according to the official document, "underscores Haggard's oft-confrontational relationship with Music City." Haggard is loved, afterall, for his simple way of confronting things he doesn't like—as candidly or poetically as he pleases. Has he gotten softer rather than harder as he wrinkles with time? Perhaps, but there's always some remark somewhere on the album that's 100% Merle badass. We look forward to it! [...]

Today, Ariana Delawari premiered her (self-directed) video for "Be Gone Taliban" on IFC . Armed with a bandolier of butterflies instead of bullets, Delawari shows her toughness, her passion, her grace and dance skills, and still looks darn cute and lovable. This video should have come with ceramic figurines of her in the orange and her girls in blue (see minute 1:19). IFC concludes that she has the goods that "would make a Taliban's head explode."
