From some friends in the business, I heard about the concept for Coldplay 's video 'Charlie Brown' long before I'd actually sat down and watched the promo. In this video meant to feel like a mini-film, the undecidedly non-ravey piano rock band play in the middle of a group of their fans as coloured lights pour down on them, while young kids get involved in some decidedly unsavoury antics. Big Deal 's new video is for the song 'Talk', and the story plays on a metaphor for a broken relationship. (Well, that's my best guess anyway. A guy comes back to the girl he hurt, because he knows she's "safe" and can heal him.) It dawned on me that we never gave away a free track from the duo, 'Chair'. The new video from Dry the River , for their forthcoming single 'The Chambers and the Valves', doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you consider they're indie folksters. If anything, it proves deep down they're lads underneath, are rather fastidious when playing dress-up and would be fun party guests. This single will be out on the 27th of February.

Juan Zelada 's song 'The Blues Remain' is iTunes' single of the week. Grab it for absolutely nothing through this link. You're welcome. Zelada heads out on a tour of the UK in late March that doesn't finish until the end of April ( details here ); his album 'High Ceilings and Collarbones' just came out on Monday (6 February) on Decca.

In Ladyhawke 's new video for 'Black, White and Blue', Pip Brown plays a photographer from an era of days gone by. I don't really get it, it doesn't fit the lyrics at all? Watch it below and see if you agree. Or have a theory about it... Click here to view the embedded video.

While it may have Brave New World overtones, the video for the Whip 's new single 'Movement' (out today on Southern Fried Records) stars some imaginative kids...being kids and having. Without being on the internet. What a concept. Except there is a bit of technology involved here, oops... The single includes remixes by The 2 Bears and In Flagranti. Bear in Heaven will be releasing their next album 'I Love You, It's Cool' (what a title, huh?) in the U.S. on the 3rd of April, and I'm assuming a UK release will follow soon after. The trio have offered up 'The Reflection of You', fits perfectly as a follow-up track to their previous album, 'Beast Rest Forth Mouth', and you can listen to and download the song below.

M. Ward (1/2 of She and Him , he's pictured on the left of course) has a new video for 'The First Time I Ran Away'. This is the first song to be released to the public from his forthcoming album 'A Wasteland Companion', due out this spring. Beautiful animation. Click here to view the embedded video.

While Lana Del Rey has been playing the submissive 'bad girl', M.I.A. proves in the promo for her new song 'Bad Girls' that being a bad girl in the Middle East involves not wearing a burka, wearing your bra over your clothes, setting fires in the middle of the desert and having your mates perform crazy tricks with their cars. To round off a long week nicely, how about the whimsical new video from Bombay Bicycle Club ? This one's for 'How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep', from 20112s 'A Different Kind of Fix' ( review here ). It has a Night Before Christmas kind of feel and you can tell it was so lovingly made. The 'Heartbreaker' single drops on the 13th of February (yes, that's the day before Valentine's Day, if you're looking for something especially rocking for your sweetie).
