*Yawn* Is it the end of May already ? Okay okay. Heres some reviews... David Bazan: Strange Negotiations - A lot has been made of what Bazan has written of the years and for good reason- He is one of the most compelling indie rock musicians of the last 20 years. His lyrics are always what separates him from others in rock and what has catapulted him to where he is now. So everyone wants to know: How much does [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow's Tobacco -- who released an amazing solo record last year as well -- knows his way around a vocoder. No matter how often he says he wants to get away from it, there it is, smack-dab in the middle of everything he does. "Don't You Want to Be in a Cult," the A-side of a 12" pic-disc that came out in early 2009 on Mexican Summer Records, flaunts vocoder bliss like diamond wrist watches in downtown Zoo York. The vocoder blings , for god's sake. This ongoing [...]
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Twin of Myself "Deep in the woods of western Pennsylvania vocoders hum amongst the flowers and synths bubble under the leaf-strewn ground while flutes whistle in the wind and beats bounce to the soft drizzle of a warm acid rain. As the sun peeks out from between the clouds, the organic aural concoction of Black Moth Super Rainbow starts to glisten above the trees." That was the description found inside the liner of BMSR's third album, Dandelion Gum , but the imagery is possibly even more apt for [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow has been a go-to, heavy rotation band for me since I came upon Dandelion Gum almost two years ago. There was a certain grit and grime to their askew form of electronica that ascended the mountain that was my hatred for electronic music. The creepy hum of Tobacco's voice, the ebb-and-flow pulse of their sound, the general sunshine with a hint of meth feel I got from the music - I was hooked. So I can say I'm happy that their releasing a new album, Eating Us, soon, but I [...]

It's an honor to present an interview with Tobacco covering the dichotomy between Tobacco and Black Moth Super Rainbow , as well as touching upon earlier works and hinting towards the future. As satanstompingcaterpillars , an introduction to lo-fi synth-pop was made and as Black Moth Super Rainbow grew from the ashes, several good men and women stronger, the music has not only gained in appreciators but taken on a unique form of production different from any other music being made today. Without spilling our collective hearts out and continuing with words which do no justice, [...]
