People want to love Tim Presley for his Darker My Love role, but as we're based in Austin, I'm more a fan of his Strange Boys role. All that aside, dude's also got a pretty nice little solo project called White Fence . This year he'll be releasing a two volume set of tunes, under the title of Family Perfume . The first volume is slated to hit stores on April 3rd through Woodsist [...]

Words by Brendan "Listen, i've been told about apples all my life. i'm sick of them!! have you ever cried for a stranger? perhaps from the television? well then welcome to the kiwi. the newest fruit. it was born yesterday, but it had FAITH......" That quote comes from the rambling liner notes of Tim Presley's album Is Growing Faith under his White Fence moniker. I can't quite begin to understand it and having to type it out like this made [...]

Pine trees and icicles and carolers - check. But can we please just talk for a moment about how it was -2 degrees the other night in Colorado? TWO BELOW, with howling winds. I like the beer , but man alive that makes for some cold sleeping. All the golden loveliness of autumn is gone, and in its place we have this icy, silent cocoon all around us, luminescent and silvery-blue. Perhaps I just have to survive these next two weeks of school, and maybe go on a little cookie-baking binge, and [...]

Guerre. This is a name I've heard a bit, namely from the excellent To & Fro as well as the equally excellent Sound Lab. It was only until I checked out the very good rose quartz blog that it all clicked. Guerre do some almost soul style beaty atmospheric kinda stuff. Big [...]

There's no exact way of knowing how many songs are released in a day. Whether it be an eighteen second kazoo ditty on Soundcloud, or a Hypem track with 4 hearts, all music deserves a shot. Even on an independent blog like Earmilk, it's impossible to cover every band/song/remix worth listening too. That's why Straight From the Teet is back, and this time… IT'S DAILY ! My name is Logan (aka Running ) and I will be curating Earmilk's newest old feature, highlighting two up-and-coming artists from two different genres, so sit back and enjoy some good-old-fashioned, non-pasteurized, Earmilk. Drink it [...]

Photography by Aaron Giesel Darker My Love's Tim Presley delivered one of the most unexpected and impressive LPs of last year with his solo project White Fence's self-titled debut. At the time, it was one of the best records L.A. RECORD ever randomly received; about a year later, it is still completely fascinating. White Fence plays Friday at Blue Star with Cold Showers, the Urinals and Night Control ( win tickets here! ) so we are re-printing this interview by Daniel Clodfelter now! Was it your [...]

In the immediate hype that surrounded Jame Blake, one aspect that numerous publications picked up on to pursue was the lo-fi fusion of dubstep orientated beats with soulful, classical-esque vocals. However, when the time arrived for the young London musician to release his debut LP, it proved rather underwhelming and stale, almost as if he'd become trapped between forging a commercially successful career or sticking to his guns. Yet one positive that arose from Blake's fur-fore into the unknown, was the belief it seemingly instilled in other male songwriters, both to sing and perform their own music as a solo [...]

MP3: Guerre – Millennium Blues Finally got our hands on the debut EP from Sydney producer Guerre, and it's just as good as we hoped. We've been on the New R&B (if that's what we're calling this?) tip for a while now, but it's still kinda surreal to hear those smooth, gauzy beats being inhabited by tunes as introspective and genuinely melancholic as those that feature on Darker My Love. These jams are totally sincere and instantly affecting, pretty much; not something you could say about a lot of the first wave of R&B, [...]

Time to pick up the nehru jackets from the dry clearer and brush up on your best happening lexicon. ...Is Growing Faith is the debut outing from White Fence , a project that finds Darker My Love's Tim Presley's stepping out from his dayjob in decidedly more mod directions. But while fans of Presley's main band may be hard-pressed to find a solid foothold within the shambling guitars, rolling drums and reverby rundowns, fans of Captain Beefheart, the Velvet Underground and The Kinks should find singles like Get [...]

At the time, it was one of the best records L.A. RECORD ever randomly received; about a year later, it is still completely fascinating. It's a bent and beautiful 4-track project that lifts the listener out of him or herself and transports them somewhere they've never been. Presley speaks now just before the release of White Fence's new LP, … Is Growing Faith. This interview [...]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Tim Presley is a confusing man. He's got so many projects going at once you wonder if the dude even has time to come up for air. Can't complain though can we, as he keeps churning out the hits. White Fence seems like the backbone for everything he does though, so its odd that Is Growing Faith comes at this point in his career. Conjecture aside, he continuously churns out albums chock full of nostalgic classic pop [...]

It's pretty well documented how much I love the Babies! They are seriously the best band and I cannot wait for their LP to drop in February. Thank god for me, they're doing a little West Coast tour with the great White Fence. Besides digging Tim Presley's every day outfit (Darker My Love) and his [...]
