So this is it. Whilst John Lewis, and Nigella Lawson, and all those other odious household bods and sods build up to Sufjan Stevens' excessively beloved time of the season , here's us stealing their mistletoe and smooching with your attention. Right? Below be ten veritably bulging gifts from we to you. There: have at 'em. Early Christmas pressies. Free of charge. Or that's at least 'til the BMI enforce the absurd licensing regulations long since menaced, when we'll henceforth trawl the annals of our analytics and embark upon a marathon knock-a-door dressed as Mr. C circa Sycophant Slags, [...]
David Byrne & St. Vincent “Who” I've been busy these past few weeks, so several things I wanted to post about have slipped through my fingers. I've decided I don't care if I'm behind the rest of the music blogosphere because late is better than never. I've been looking for some new dance moves to bust out at the clubs I'm pretending I go to for the sake of this joke, for some time now. I think the herky jerky [...]

On Thursday the 20th of September, we attended a show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto that far surpassed our expectations. David Byrne and St. Vincent delivered a concert full of musical twists and turns along with beautiful arrangements. As they entered the stage, the twelve piece line up featuring an eight-piece brass section broke out into a refreshing version of their first single Who . David Byrne and Annie Clark took turns trading off on old classics and new favourites. Ranging from St. Vincent's lovely Marrow to Talking Heads' Burning Down the [...]
Watch/Listen here: I have always loved David Byrne's voice. Whether solo or Talking Heads, it is so distinct, quirky and cool. Throw in St. Vincent's crystal clear vocals and you have something special. The video is also awesome and strange and funny. A can't lose proposition! Lyrics here, more below: Who be my valentine? Who lift this heavy load? Who share this taxi cab? Who wants to climb aboard? [...]

The title of this album is incorrect or, rather, incomplete. Yes, this is a collaboration between David Byrne and Annie Clark of St. Vincent but there's a third, equally important member: the brass. Love This Giant , out on 4AD/Todo Mundo , is absolutely packed with brass sections, melodies, and blasts. It gives off a temporal vibe, especially when placed in contrast with the electronic flourishes that are provided by the two talented musicians. Each track finds a new way to use the instruments [...]
With modern cameras capable of capturing colors we don’t even have names for, the decision to shoot in black-and-white is not a decision to be made lightly. In his video for the David Byrne/St. Vincent collaborative song “Who,” director Martin de Thurah not only uses black-and-white to establish a sense of Twilight Zone -esque otherworldliness but he also utilizes his limited color palette to reemphasize the importance of both artists in the creation of the song. The video begins with a dapper David Byrne cautiously getting out of his car to inspect an unresponsive Annie Clark who happens [...]

The album's out next week and after only being streamable for a couple of days, people are raving about Love This Giant , the collaborative album between St. Vincent and David Byrne . Today we get the first video from the project for the single "Who" , a black and white oddity that has the couple dancing on an empty street after it looks like David hit Annie with his car. Now that's a street [...]

If you've been following the trajectory of this collaboration since its rumoured conveption, you'll know that it's been far too long in coming. Years in fact, but rest your weary hearts because now it's a real (almost tangible), existing thing. St. Vincent and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne have been working on Love This Giant amidst their busy schedules for the last couple of years, and the result is [...]

Having already released one of the best tracks of the year so far with "Who" , St. Vincent & David Byrne 's LP collaboration Love This Giant is gearing up to be one of the best albums of the year, if for no other reason than based on the two tracks from it that we've now heard. "Who" is immense, but "Weekend In The Dust" is just as spectacular, highlighting once [...]

I've learned two things from hanging out with jazz lovers this week: where to find good food and how to listen to horns. And this song's got nice horns. That solo saxophone starts off in such a classy and funky way that when the track follows up with the more edgy guitar riffs it makes for a nice surprise. And you wouldn't expect it, but Annie Clark' s soft voice sounds just right next to Byrne's howls. A collaboration between David Byrne and St. Vincent is even more than bringing together the voices of two generations, it's also bringing together two people [...]

St Vincent and David Byrne Now Playing – every week, a roundtable of our writers will give their views on one of the recently-released new tracks. It’s as simple as that! If you want to tell us what you think of the song, feel free to leave a comment below. Track: ‘Who’ by David Byrne and St. Vincent Average grade: 6.4 James: This is a great idea for a [...]
David Byrne & St. Vincent - Who

David Byrne and Annie Clark might not seem like perfect sonic complements at first glance, and that might be because they aren't. But there's something to this combination - Byrne's Talking Heads evocative new wave and Clark's baroque pop - that makes complete sense. All the incongruity and discontinuity end up working for the track, not against it, and the result is both catchy and endearing. Byrne and Clark's album, " Love the Giant ," is due out at the end of summer. [...]
the internet got a collective hard-on a couple days when St. Vincent and David Byrne announced they would be releasing a collaborative album toget her called Love This Giant . “Who” is our first taste of the collab and the two indie titans perfectly compliment each other, with the Talking Heads frontman taking most of the stage on this. It’s a great, horn-loving throwback of an avant garde rock track, that is been dearly missing in the last bit of this world. The record will be out on 9/10 through 4AD. David Byrne and St. [...]

The album is called Love This Giant and will be out on September 11th via 4AD and Todo Mundo, and above you can see the awesome, [...]
