Like all great journeys, this one too must come to an end. And by Sunday evening, as promised, no less! Just by virtue of how I ended up organizing this playlist, this part ended up being very, shall we say, "classic rock" heavy, so if that's not your thing, this probably won't be your favorite part of the playlist (in which case see links at the bottom for parts 1-3!), but I wouldn't steer you wrong, these are definitely choice cuts! Neon Indian: Deadbeat Summer ( Psychic Chasms ) [...]

Sleigh Bells I have to say, I wasn't the biggest fan of Sleigh Bells when they burst onto the scene. It was too "in your face" and chaotic for me to really resonate with at the time. After finally getting around to Treats, I was won over pretty quickly by their intensity and hardcore take on the already dulling genre of dance rock. So I had an idea of what I was getting into with this live show. Bosco Delrey [...]
Neon Indian has been one of the artists who has been forgotten about in 2010. It hasn't helped that there have not been many videos for last year's Psychic Chasms, but he is set to head back into the studio soon and to get excitement levels up, the video for [Read more]

words: Jamie Milton Chillwave-craze and success story of 2009, Neon Indian gets the royal cover treatment from one of today's most sensual bands, Luke Temple's Here We Go Magic . Their version of ' Deadbeat Summer ' morphs lively, squeak-pop into a busy, animated anthem for a modern day metropolis. You envisage the hustle and bustle of getting in on time, coffee in hand; stress levels and deadlines…I'm absolutely sure that wasn't the objective when it came to recording this cover version, but [...]

Melon and I saw Neon Indian at the Mezzanine last Friday. His jerky moves and the '80s spacey synth tore that post-industrialist hipster house down! We can't wait for the new Vega CD to come out. Last year, the electronic dance music destroyers from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Database's Lucio and Yuri, took to the stages for a quick hop, skip and jump in the US for a tour that is now the subject of a completed...

Ahh Neon Indian , your soothing melodic mess can take apart all the bad and piece it together like a unstable card castle. This Skeet Skeet funky edit also does wonders to your insides, plenty of musical thc you see. hello percussion. Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer (Skeet Skeet Funky Edit) ysi 320Kbps Ubbs
(photo by Apu Gomes) While Internet backlash has already sort of happened to the chillwave movement of the 2009 spring/summer (cf. Washed Out, Toro Y Moi), we haven't been a part of it. And for good reason: we're fans of...

A couple quick songs with seemingly no connection to one another. Royksopp - What Else is There (Ministry of Sound Remix) Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer Mickey Avalon - Jane Fonda José González Vs. The Knife - Heartbeats (Remix)
Everyone's kicking out low end-leaning edits, originals and anthems lately, and the guys from Vegas in Afghan Raiders are picking up that trend and pouncing out another great tune, this time a remix of "Deadbeat Summer" from Alan Palomo's second...

The much hyped and discussed (and local) Neon Indian came to Dallas to hit the Granada on the 28th, and Jill, Anna and I went to check it out. One thing we all agreed on: not only did they sound fantastic, but their live set was more enjoyable than the album cuts ( Psychic Chasms ). For the complete review, photos, upcoming tour dates, and sample MP3s, hit the jump. I came in for the closing song of the final opener, and basically what I took away was that it was a dude with a [...]

Here are my favourite songs of 2009. I seriously could have went into the hundreds on this one but I seriously cannot be holed. Besides this top 20 took me fecking ages. Enjoy! 20. Major Lazer - Pon De Floor To me this song sounds like it should be released in 2015, it's THAT ahead of its time. As it is, it ended up sending dancefloors into chaotic frenzies whenever it was played in 2009. Listen: [...]

Neon Indian has put out one of my favorite albums of the year ( Psychic Chasms ), so I was psyched (no pun intended) to see them live. I was a little apprehensive about the show given the technical nature of their album with heavy electronic/synth infusion. Little to my surprise, Alan Palomo and Co. were still working out the kinks at their show at The Bishop in Bloomington, Indiana. First off, their set was delayed a half hour due to "technical difficulties." Once the show started, the transitions were choppy and Palomo's vocals were clear as day. This [...]

Best three nights in a row. Thursday, Neon Indian (Bloomington). Friday, The Avett Brothers (Louisville). Saturday, Man Man (Lexington). I'll put a few miles on my car, but it will be worth it. Neon Indian is one of my favorite bands of 2009 and have an amazing album out today, Psychic Chasms. Check 'em out below. Neon Indian- I Should Have Taken Acid With You [...]

Sometimes, you forget that you really liked an act the last time you heard them and the next time they pop back onto your radar (or in this case, my iPod), you're blown away. Take this morning, for example. I was minding my business on the N train out of Astoria, having my daily "cup o' joe" and listening to music when "Terminally Chill" by Neon Indian [ MySpace ] popped on. I was really impressed with my own taste, but then I hit my OWN SITE up to see that I had written [...]

Soundtrack to the summers day as you lie on the lawn, exfoliating gin while the grass mows itself. Thrusting the freshly-mowed smell in your ears and eyes, somebody's sprinkled it on you like cappucino cocodust. The neighbourhood's dead and the sprinklers are on and the kids next door want their fucking ball back. You've got the cans on and nothing will sway you from your grassy slumber. Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer Neon Indian are the midpoint of an all-star [...]

Here's some refreshingly dizzy summer pop soon to be your sunny afternoon anthem. It may have all the ingredients to be similar to MGMT and other synth pop screamers however Neon Indian have created a straightforward arrangement of loopy keys, lo-fi drums and playful lyrics to give you the track 'deadbeat summer'. A perfect mix of old grinding guitars and new lush melodies that makes me want to ride the pushy down the shop to grab a cornetto. This new project from composer Alan Palomo ( vega ) has seen him experiment with [...]

Wot's Hot MP3: The Field- The More that I do (Thomas Fehlmann Remix) This heart-stopping Thomas Fehlmann remix of The Field's 'the more that I do' turned up on the Kompakt Total 10 compilation. Fehlmann takes a resonating chime from the unspooling sample at the end of the original production, then uses it as a gorgeous focal point from which he spins an entirely new progression for the track.
