Dear George Lucas, nobody liked The Phantom Menace when it was in 2D and hit theaters in 1999, so I don't know why you feel the need to jazzercise it up with some of that newfangled 3D. But anyways, Lucasfilm just announced that Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace will have a 3D theatrical release on February 10, 2012 . Which, more than anything, means that the other five movies are probably not far behind. So here's the thing, we need to boycott this right now, not just [...]

Love the original, love the new version. The Roots just scored some much needed cool points . Monsters of Folk - "Dear God" The Roots - "Dear God 2.0" — Basil

HANK ALTOGETHER: Pretty much my favorite track off the Monsters of Folk first record gets a Roots treatment. Yeah. It's better. (via YAKP )
This track is a 180-degree turnaround from their last single. Thought & co. slow it down to deliver a song that borrows from Monster of Folk's "Dear God". You have to commend The Roots for sticking to their craft for so long. They know they're the best band at what they do, yet even after [...]

How long have we been waiting for How I Got Over, the long promised and now well overdue LP from those mighty musical masters of late night television, The Roots? Too long, me thinks. But fear not, as things seem to be ramping up af 22 June release . As I type this, I can hear the cynics snickering at what is the latest in a long line of promised release dates - especially seeing as a recent post on OkayPlayer (which also includes an up to date track listing) says that [...]
Latest video "Dear God" from alt-pop supergroup Monsters of Folk -- M. Ward, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Conor "Bright Eyes" Oberst and producer Mike Mogus -- is a dazzling bit of trippiness that suits the song's harmonied and Philly-soulful vibe.

Jim James, Connor Oberst, M. Ward and the other guy, a/k/a Monster of Folk, have a new video out for one of my favorite tracks from their self-titled debut album (via Stereogum ). I've heard rumors that they may go round two with the super group and make another album. That will be down the road though, so don't hold your breath. In the meantime, enjoy this video. Also, get ready for a special edition reissue of the MOF album set for release on Record Store Day (April 17th). Think 2xLP blue vinyl! [...]

The indie-folk/rock supergroup that is Monsters Of Folk (Jim James, M. Ward, Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis) are back with a new video for their song "Dear God" that is sure to "folk" with your head....yeah I didn't like that joke either. The song comes from the group's self-titled debut LP which you should have already bought by now. The video takes us on a journey through the universe which is actually a trip through a human being which is actually a trip through the universe. You get all that? The members of [...]
