Nephelium - Coils of Entropy

Nephelium - Coils of Entropy Nephelium is a phenomenal band. They seamlessly blend new techniques with tried-and-true methods of classic death metal. Being labled as "Metal juggarnauts" suits Nephelium , the way they combine classic death metal growls with punishing guitars, and unmerciful drumming. Their newest album, Coils of Entropy harks back to classic death metal bands such as their influencers Death, and Suffocation . They're not just brutal, but slam your head against the wall fantastic. With vocals that often break down to animalistic roars and screeches, punching guitar riffs backed by some of the best double [...]

LIVE // Mirel Wagner // The Green Note Cafe // Camden // 02.02.12

LIVE // Mirel Wagner // The Green Note Cafe // Camden // 02.02.12 After spending the majority of my day listening to a whole heap of new music (soon to be featured on Show & Tell), I thought why not spend the whole day listening to music? It's a tough job but somebody has to do it. So I braved the cold and journeyed to the Green Note in Camden to see the very talented singer-songwriter Mirel Wagner. Mirel is a 23 year old singer, born in Ethiopia and raised in Finland, who released her self-titled record on Bon Voyage records in October, a collection of chillingly haunting songs that fit the icy [...]

Benny Hill and the Windmill Theatre in Great Windmill Street, Soho

Benny Hill and the Windmill Theatre in Great Windmill Street, Soho Benny Hill in his sixties heyday. "The notion that Benny was a lonely man is so depressing and wrong. He just liked his own company. He was very happy walking alone, living alone, eating alone, taking holidays alone and going to see shows alone. I often wonder whether he needed anybody else in his life at all…except perhaps a cameraman". - Bob Monkhouse On Easter Sunday morning in 1992, and just two hours after he had been speaking to a television producer [...]

Only Women Bleed

Only Women Bleed by Polly Bresnick Etta James, who passed away last week, could not only sing with searing soul that simultaneously strikes fear and sorrow and strength into the hearts of anyone who hears her voice, but she also bridged the gap between R&B and Rock & Roll back when people were still impressed by that kind of feat, way back when a band of light-skinned black girls was called the "Creolettes," way back when the song title "Roll With Me Henry" was so suggestive for a fourteen-year-old girl to sing, that the title was changed for [...]

Album: Woods Of Ypres – Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light

Woods Of Ypres - Kiss My Ashes (Goodbye)
Woods Of Ypres Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light Earache Records 13 February 2012 by Tom Dare By now, you're probably aware Woods Of Ypres mainman David Gold died on 21 December 2011. What was meant to be the first album he'd have had significant label backing for after plugging away in the Canadian underground for a decade, has instead turned out to be his last. This is obviously a delicate record to analyse, but whatever the background, [...]

2011 In Review: The Year in Death

2011 In Review: The Year in Death Technical music has had a complicated and busy year in which death metal was pulled in three directions. Technical thrash flourished, bringing to mind the late '80s and early '90s heydays. Djent and instrumental metal had their best years ever. And, as they always seem to, the metalcore, deathcore, and brutal/slam subgenres coughed up a few quality albums as well. In this article, I'm going to examine each subgenre's best album of the year and call attention to other high-quality efforts. The best album has a YouTube video embedded with it. After that will be a YouTube playlist with the [...]

Poetic Death Goes @ Tyler The Creator + Hopsin

Poetic Death - Sarcasm ft. Meanwhile [Official Music Video] (Tyler Diss) (Hopsin Diss)
I thought this was interesting.. not sure I'm a huge fan of the actual music.. but this guy is going hard at Tyler & (Yukonn's favorite MC of the year) Hopsin. After listening to Tyler's "Bastard" album, Poetic shouted out OFWGKTA In His "Pokerface" video. He was expecting Tyler's movement to carry the torch for the upcoming generation, but it wasn't until Tyler released "Goblin" some months down the line that Poetic realized OFWGKTA couldn't be the face of this generation. In regards to Hopsin, Poetic claims dude just tries to hard and needs to focus [...]

Is Jon Bon Jovi dead?

Is Jon Bon Jovi dead? Twitter's #1 trending topic worldwide right now is Jon Bon Jovi. The rumor is that the "Chelsea Girl" singer is dead. No news yet that is official and a part of us feels like some people could have phonetically mistake the lead singer of Bon Jovi with Kim Jong Il. Maybe? What do you think. I hope he didn't pass away. UPDATE : He's not. Me 2! Can't believe Jon Bon Jovi is DEAD! He was such a sweetheart in real life! RT @ doronofircast : I am devastated! fb.me/1eJFI3ais [...]

BLACK CHRISTMAS - 1974 - TRAILER [HD]
Richard Christy is more metal than you. In addition to drumming for his own project, Charred Walls of The Damned , he's previously bashed the skins for Death and Iced Earth . In between all that he also found the time to be one of Howard Stern's sidekicks. The guy's got one hell of a CV, make no mistake. -- What is your favourite Christmas song? 'White Christmas' by Zakk Wylde - a beautiful acoustic version of a [...]

Remembering CHUCK SCHULDINER, 10 Years Later

Death - Crystal Mountain (live)
I often find that the word "Visionary" seldom makes it's way to most written vocabularies when describing artists these days. To open your mind to the possibility that someday in the future people around the world will fully realize the vision you bestow upon them today is not only risky in the entertainment business, it's ...

NPR AND THEIR FAMOUS FRIENDS REMEMBER DEATH'S CHUCK SCHULDINER

Ten years ago today Death mastermind Chuck Schuldiner died of a brain tumor. It'd be hard to argue that Schuldiner didn't have a massive influence upon all the metal that followed after Death; while Death may not have ever achieved close to the mainstream metal notoriety that Metallica and Pantera did, I can't think of [...]

EPHEL DUATH'S NEWEST LINE-UP IS SSSSSSIIIICCCCKKKK

Italian prog metal maestros Ephel Duath are really just an Italian prog metal maestro, singular - the band has gone through something like 1,864,093 line-up changes since 1998, with guitarist Davide Tiso being the only constant. Do hardcore Ephel Duath fans consider that a total bummer, or do they not care? Regardless, this news should make [...]
