I know I am a little late on this, but here are the albums that I am looking forward to hearing the most. Please understand this is not my guess at what will be the best albums of 2012, or my attempt at finding the pulse of what the general public is most excited about. These the 12 albums that I am personally the most excited about. Also know that I have excluded several albums that have already been released that surely would have made this list, had I done a month ago, including the new ones by [...]
Diamond Rugs is a band made up of two guys from Deer Tick plus members of the Black Lips, Los Lobos, Six Finger Satellite and Dead Confederate . The band plans a self-titled album in late April, and, according to its publicists, some of the songs on the release are being previewed at 50 strip clubs across the U.S. No reviews yet. Here's a video of the guys performing Gimme a Beer . The song can be downloaded at this website .

What does it take to be Paste Magazine 's most anticipated album of 2012? It has to be widely accepted by strip clubs. Instead of sending their music to the media, Diamond Rugs, the collaboration of John McCauley (Deer Tick), Robbie Crowell (Deer Tick), Ian Saint Pé (The Black Lips), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Hardy Morris (Dead Confederate) and Bryan Dufresne (Six Finger Satellite), decided to send three CD singles to over 50 strip clubs. Strip club connoisseurs and employees loved what they heard, and now that sentiment is shared by the aforementioned popular indie zine. [...]

Luego [...]
Hundreds of disposable cameras? Alter-egos known as "Captain Tipsy"? Determining what makes a Tickhead? All in a day's work for Deer Tick, who tells PopMatters all about it while still basking in the critical glow of its latest disc. Deer Tick: transmitter of Lyme Disease or a brotherhood of musicians with a penchant for rock 'n' roll and cheap beer? It may have started off as a disease, but since 2004 Deer Tick has represented singer/song writer John McCauley of Providence, Rhode Island. Originally a solo project specializing in East-Coast Americana rock with an indie-folk glaze, Deer [...]

This is the place for puppies and new music... glad to have ya! These are the actual puppies that Dr. Dog delivered before their last tour. I bet you didn't know that it was a profession AND a band name! A Place To Bury Strangers: Onwards to the Wall EP Air: Le Voyage Dans La Lune Amanda Palmer: Polly Bahamas: Barchords Battles: Dross Clop 1 [vinyl] [...]

I was little late to the game on Deer Tick's last album Divine Providence . It's a fantastic marriage of folk and rock, an album without a singular direction that is able to leap between the two sounds seamlessly, and keep you hooked and coming back for more. At the center of all this is frontman John McCauley , who skirts between his folk and rock voice beautifully, completel y at home in both. So it makes sense that McCauley would do a fantastic job with a Neil Young cover. It's just [...]

The line-up for this years Sasquatch Festival came out on Thursday night and it is a pretty decent looking list. Even though there is roughly a -12% chance that I will be able to attend this year, I thought it would be kind to preview some songs from artists that I would be excited to go see. This is just a small sampling so head over to The Official Site for more info about bands playing and how to get tickets. Enjoy! Free mp3: Active Child - Hanging [...]

Encabezando la lista tenemos a Jack White, Beck, Bon Iver, Beirut, Zola Jesus, pasando por The Roots, Explosions In [...]
The Sasquatch Music Festival has released their 2012 lineup, and as usual, it's a doozy....

The annual Sasquatch festival, definitely a festival that I need to attend in the very near future, announced a killer line up for this year's installment. Recently solo Jack White, along with Beck and Bon Iver, will be headlining the George, WA based three-day event. Also leading the way are Pretty Lights, Tenacious D, The Shins, Girl Talk, St. Vincent, Feist, and Silversun Pickups. But that's not all who you'll get to see at the Gorge Ampitheatre this year. Also performing this year are Metric, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, The Head [...]

It's safe to say that without the tireless efforts of Alan Lomax , the world may never have been introduced to the likes of Woody Guthrie, Muddy Waters, Leadbelly or countless other musicians the folklorist and ethnomusicologist recorded on dusty back roads, barns or just about anywhere else he could set up his recording gear. Lomax spent his entire career making field recordings of folk and traditional music, both in the U.S. and abroad, amassing a collection of 5,000 hours of sound recordings, 400,000 feet of film, 3,000 videotapes, 5,000 photographs and piles of manuscripts. Some 17,000 tracks from [...]

Deer Tick have announced they'll be releasing their fourth album, Divine Providence , this April. The album, which was released late last year in America, will get a UK release this April (2nd) via Loose Music. The band are also set to play The Garage on April 4th. You can watch the video for 'Main Street', which was the first single to be taken from the album, below.
In case you missed it, the lineup for this year's Snowball Music Festival was announced recently and it's totally nuts. Any festival set in Vail, Colorado would be something to pay attention to regardless, and this year the promoters went all-out on the talent by snagging Snoop Dogg, Bassnectar, Rusko, TV on the Radio, Big [...]
