Bank Holiday weekend has begun and it's looking like a marvellous sun filled one and this week has given some great new music. Gerry Read - 4TH010 First up someone whose music is distinctive and simply brilliant. Gerry Read . Gerry's back with the Crave b/w Enjoy A Day Out single released June 2nd and new album out on Fourth Wave this summer. Constantly producing an exciting mixture of house, techno and jazz, Read's music is always interesting to listen to. His first album J ummy was [...]

LWE's 10th Talking Shopcast was a blazing hour of house and techno contributed by Delsin affiliate Delta Funktionen. Be sure to add it to your collection before it's archived this Friday, April 5th.

[Delsin] When you look at it, John Beltran has had quite the remarkable career. He started in the early 90s, around the same time as legendary names like Chandler and Craig. He's proven similarly prolific, with half a dozen albums and a multitude of singles to his name. His consistency is unquestionable, too, regardless of whether he's covering techno, Latin-inflected house, IDM, downtempo, future jazz, or, most famously, [...]

[ Delsin ] Looking over Conforce's five-year discography, its seems fair to say that his work has become darker, more deliberate and bottom-heavy. Where once Boris Bunnik put his name to free-spirited cuts like "Our Concern" or "Cruising," his newer stuff - "Vacuüm," for instance - is altogether more somber. Time Dilation , the Dutchman's latest 123, continues this trajectory, traversing the same luminescent, cavernous and dub-influenced realms of recent times. "Nomad" is [...]

As another weekend comes to a close, I thought that it might be nice to turn down the Blouse thermostat a little and feature a couple of tracks that are a touch mellower than our recent fare. Although the names Redshape and Marcel Fengler might put images of packed clubs and sweaty walls into your mind, I assure you - these two new tracks are just lovely. Redshape is a fellow that wears a red mask to his gigs. How do you [...]

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Bram Sluiter studied musical composition for many years before he started producing electronic music. One of those child prodigies perhaps whose innate abilities saw him grasp concepts of melody and arrangement with ease. The thing is, prior to Sluiter's first forays into production around 2002 he had never played an instrument or had lessons of any kind. From the outset, with releases on Delsin and Music Man, it was clear the producer must have been working very hard at his craft, favoring a classic sound that referenced Detroit without simply aping his Motor City [...]

Afgelopen woensdagavond is Amsterdam Dance Event in volle hevigheid losgebarsten.

[ M>O>S Recordings/Delsin ] Ann Arbor's D'Marc Cantu has seen a significant rise in profile over the last couple years, largely off the strength of singles like "Set Free" - one of LWE's top tracks of 2011 - and Fallen , his exceptional debut LP for Crème Organization. The latter only arrived at the tail end of last year, so the appearance of another album so soon after, this time a [...]

Artwork by Tauba Auerbach [ Delsin ] Since his debut in 2008, Niels Luinenburg, the Dutch producer known to most as Delta Funktionen, has established himself as a savvy producer of functional, austere techno. Some of his records, however, have lacked for something - something to make them shine amidst a sea of [...]

There are dozens of potential reasons why several iterations of LWE's top labels charts have consistently featured the same imprints, but the one that sticks is the enduring quality of the labels we've chosen. But of course, many other labels have impressed us in 2012 but didn't make this list. Rush Hour is the most notably absent below, despite having an excellent year so far; we only left them off because they've made into onto nearly every label chart we've done. Uncanny Valley continues to spread their wings, revealing startling new talents the further they go. Hessle Audio has maintained [...]

Painting by Jackson Pollock [ Delsin ] Steve Pickton made a name for himself primarily through his Stasis project (and under innumerable other monikers), fervently expanding on the complex UK techno sound of the early to mid 90s. So it may come as a surprise to see him fronting deep beatdown house as Soul 223. But he tested these waters ever so briefly several [...]

With four years of releases for Delsin and it's sister labels under his belt, the time has arrived for Delta Funktionen to deliver his debut album for the label in the shape of "Traces". From the spacey electro of opener “Frozen Land” through the closing moments of final track “On A Distant Journey”, the listener is treated to a wander through electronica with classic synths and drum machines all making their presence known underneath the digital polish. There’s an electro lean throughout and even the tracks with a tougher techno feel such [...]

★★★★☆ Reform Club is house music that wants to be there for you, whatever your mood, from the Manchester UK groove masseur Mark Stewart. It plays as some kind of health spa meets convalescence home for house sufferers, mixing up aromas, some tough love and slow motion remedies. There’s the relaxant with strong bass undertones on the opening "Reformed," letting you know how he’ll be laying his healing hands on your psyche. Then comes the rising "Blind Side" that’s definitely for your benefit, confusing your senses by being a sedative cocktail of cosmic [...]

Image by Phil Ashcroft [ Delsin ] In the four years since his debut release on Rush Hour Recordings, Boris Bunnik under his Conforce guise has become an indispensable part of the techno soundscape. His studied, modern take on classic techno theories and sounds are spread over nearly a dozen releases and two [...]

[Delsin] Sometimes label moves can seem a little jarring, especially with a serial monogamist like Claro Intelecto. He had an early fling with Ai Records, but soon settled down with Modern Love, becoming one of the label's leading artists. As Modern Love travel down the rabbit hole of Andy Stott's gnarled, knackered sounds and Demdike Stare's library witchcraft, the man born Mark Stewart releases his first proper 123 in over a year [...]
