I'm not much of a soda guy. I drink a can about every six months and usually it is because there is absolutely nothing else to drink wherever I am at (like hanging out with Africans in New Port Richey). My drinks of choices are water and the occasional Gatorade or Aloe Juice. When I was little, my drink of choice was easily milk. At birthday parties, while everyone else drank juice or soda, I would sneak off to the refrigerator and hope to god that the family throwing the party would have a carton (or jug) of skim milk sitting [...]
Our friend Phil recently posted this gem while he was prepping himself for his visit to Coachella. I was in the Mercury Cafe when this happened... this fantastic show by Blur. I wasn't in the room where it was taking place though. A conman had convinced my roommates that he worked for Virgin - and [...] The post Blur - Live at the Mercury Cafe in Denver - Feb. 1, 1996 appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .
Denver producer Raz Al Goon is back with another single today, filled with great samples, some glitchy sounds, some trap influences, and even a laid back, kind of reggae vibe to it. Hell, it's its own kind of genre, who knows what it is. Check this song out, as well as his previous laid back, trippy, almost Flying Lotus - esque song, "Two Minds" on his soundcloud page. RIP, Barry Fey. Fey always struck me as a "rock" guy. "Rock" as a general noun where anything that could be rock was a good thing - in the way non-music fans romanticized the word rock without any true context or scrutiny. I abhor that idea of "rock" because it's akin to walking into a museum [...] The post Barry Fey, RIP: A love letter to what Denver has become. appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .

Denver's KMGH-TV Channel 7 News meteorologist gave an adorable and charming reaction to a seriously FUBAR'ed graphics issue on Tuesday. The Internet generally loves to eat broadcast journalist bloopers for breakfast - not because of the technical mistakes made, but their stuffed-shirt personalities that get so easily thrown off. Props to Lisa Hidalgo for being comfortable enough in her own skin and handling this slip-up with finesse. h/t @SladeHV Follow @BrianAbrams

For the low, low price of only your email address, you can download this 14 track sampler from Denver's Hot Congress Records. While I can't champion every band on this compilation, I can guarantee there are more than a couple of gems to be found among these songs. Also, this may be a necessary palette cleansing, given the abominations of music to emerge from Denver onto the international stage in the last year or 5. Do yourself a favor and click this link to get the compilation right now [...]

Denver’s Ancient Mariner aka Gabriel Jorgensen has created an enchanting and organic environment through his recent single “Acedia”. Produced by the same man behind Night Beds, the peaceful, electronic soundscape should accompany you through your next meeting with Mother Earth. The EP In Solitude will be out later this month.

Are you really here looking for vegan calf testicles? If so, sorry, I can't help you. There will be no vegan bull balls in this post. So why the title? Well, it is an entry about the best vegan food I enjoyed in the Rocky Mountains presented in little snip(pets) thus the oyster part. I know that since I have returned from Denver I have already done a number of posts referencing it (including this one, this one, and hey, look, another one). I promise that this is the last entry about the fine cuisine I enjoyed in the Mile High [...]
Today we got an exclusive new track from Raz Al Goon, aka Drew Ansbacher, a producer from DC who now studies at the University of Denver. After producing for years with rappers in the DC area, as well as famous artists like Mac Miller, Raekwon, Gorilla Zoe, Smoke DZA, and more, Raz Al Goon has switched up his production to a more trippy, laid back hip hop style, taking great samples and also making unique sounds all on his own. Take a listen to “Two Moods” here, and cop the free download from an artist to keep on your radar. [...]
