Cage If you don't already know who Cage is, I'm going to have to direct you here . It's impossible to give you an abridged version of his story but basically he's a tortured white rapper turned dark indie hip-hopper turned 'almost' horror-core rap artist. If the term 'horror-core' doesn't sound appealing to you at all, you're probably my friend. But seriously, his last record could have been so much more yet unfortunately only a handful of songs really represented why I listened to Cage in the first place. There was [...]
If the Grim Reaper had to sing, he would probably sing about death. Cage , the New York-bred rapper and indie-rocker may not meet the reaper's demise in song but gives him run for his money in a fashion reminiscent of Charlie Daniels' Johnny in "The Devil Went To Georgia." In such a case, the Reaper should have been at BB King in New York City this past Friday for the "Depart From Me Round 23 tour. With Shinobi Ninja and Tame One setting the stage, Cage's appearance was met by fans who were eager for [...]
It's fucking September already! That means in a few months we'll be forced into buying holiday gifts that we can't afford, just so that other people can in turn buy us shit that they can't really swing either. In my experience, the only great thing about approaching one more year of misery is reminiscing on the hip-hop that recently was. The problem with that, however, is the sheer impossibility of catching everything (so be sure to holler about my glaring omissions in the comments). For your use and mine - since I'm already beginning to calculate [...]
As you likely know - former-vagrant-turned-alt-rap- icon Cage is one of our preferred artists here at JTTS; just last month he made our 100 Greatest Rappers of All-Time list (which I promise to continue soon). His new disc - Depart From Me - isn't the easiest listen. But damn if that shit doesn't eat away at you. Anyone who's interested in my review can CHECK IT HERE . Otherwise - just be sure to peep homey at Harpers Ferry this Friday. Even if you're too cool [...]
I was excited to jump on my Twitter account and discover that Cage leaked another track off of Depart From Me . This track is called "Look at What You Did" and it is produced by Sean Martin of the Carboard City crew. The production is very heavy and sound similar to " Nothing Left To Say " when it kicks in. The synth in this track may cave your chest in if you play it too loud (literally) and the guitar strums make for a very nice touch. As usual, Palko spits his eerie flow very [...]
Brooklyn emcee and Carboard City native Yak Ballz will be releasing a new EP entitled Gas Galaxy EP later this year. Gas Galaxy EP will be Yak's first offering on the Def Jux record label. He is also going on a 25 city tour with fellow Def Jux native Cage who also has a new album, Depart From Me , coming out on July 7th. They will be hitting up 25 cities on the tour starting in Brooklyn & ending in Providence, Rhode Island. You can listen to the title track [...]
So I just submitted my upcoming Cage interview for the next YRB magazine. And, as is always the case with Cage, some of the material was just too good to save until the issue drops. Here are a few nuggets: On the new album: "I was staying at [former Hatebreed guitarist] Sean Martin's studio on the floor with no idea about what I was trying to do. One day I would be on the set of Transformers 2, and Shia was asking to make my next video; [...]
I finally got the download link for this album when I checked my MySpace for the first time in about two weeks. It's over at the MTV2 Subterranean Blog , and unfortunately you have to download each track individually, not as a whole album. Although I feel as though the individual track download is kind of bogus, I don't think that the EP is going to be the same. Make sure you download this FREE EP, and also go out and get Depart From Me when it drops in July. Download: [...]
Here's another one from the upcoming Depart From Me . I don't know how I feel about this yet. For those who are familiar with Cage, you can tell it's the same guy who did "Agent Orange", but his delivery has changed. Kind of sounds like old Cage meets E-40. This one's got a rock feel to it and is about his experience in a mental hospital, one of Cage's favorite topics. Check it out. Thanks to iLLRoots . Cage - Dr. Strong PigeonsandPlanes

Cage Unleashed!
Well I've been waiting for him to emerge with a bang and this is about it. A free EP , a creepy video (notice EL-P and Aesop Rock ?), a slew of tour dates, and a pre-order of the new album, Depart From Me . Can you say awesome? After a handful of listens of Cage's new EP, it's clear why this is free. Now don't let that scare you off, it's got plenty of amazing areas, plus it's free so what do you have to lose? Anyway, [...]

Cage Talks With Hip Hop Official
Hip Hop Official had the chance to sit down and interview Cage after the Paid Dues Festival last month. The topics that are discussed in this video are awesome. Cage is one of the most interesting guys on the Indie Hip Hop scene and this interview totally shows it. He talks about what Depart From Me is going to be about as far as concept, as well as what the production is going to sound like. He talks about Hell's Winter album a lot and how Depart From Me is going to be [...]
Cage, "I Never Knew You" (Video)
Here is Cage's newest video off his I Never Knew You EP which is supposedly due out today (Monday). I discovered this video today thanks to the homie Shake over @ 2Dopeboyz . The video is directed by the one and only Shia LaBeouf who also makes a cameo in the video. I will have Cage's free EP up for you guys when it comes out later today.
