Well, what DID you expect from The Vaccines? I tell you what. I am thoroughly impressed with this band. Last week I told you about The Horrors, and this week I've got their sister band. I mean brother band. Literally. Their guitar player is the younger brother of Tom Cowan (bass)from The Horrors. And like The Horrors, The Vaccines was also formed in West London. But VERY recently formed, despite sounding like a fully developed band. I compared The Horrors to [...]

Ace little pop track I haven't been able to get out of my head all week. Swedish native Soso has created quite the unique blend of sounds, for me I get lots of Jan Hammer and Depeche mode vibes...which can only be a good thing. Good industrial pop looks like it may have a covergirl to lead the revival.
No One Can Ever Know is the third album and marks a big departure from The Twilight Sad's previous two records.

Beth Jeans Houghton has a promising sound. It feels like a marriage between folk-country and a little recent Natalie Merchant thrown into it. All quirk aside, she is a singer-songwriter from Newcastle upon Tyne who plays "sweet and gentle folk music." Beth Jeans Houghton has been described by The Guardian as looking like "Gwen Stefani with a touch of Brody Dalle", with a sound that "is Vashti Bunyan crossed with Nico and Laura Marling" In early 2011 Beth Jeans Houghton signed to Mute Records who announced that they will be releasing her debut long player in early 2012. The [...]

Sunday.. Is there a day better suited to the enjoyment of slow burning Cascine magic? We received a little slice of aforementioned magic a few weeks ago, and it came in the shape of new Cascine signing RxGibbs , and his (soon to be released) EP Futures. If you know Cascine, you should know what to expect here.. Gorgeous, lush and intricate synth soundscapes with a foot edging toward the dancefloor. What I particularly [...]

Having played festivals all over the world since releasing their first album Origins in 2006, The Horrors should be ready to rock this year's two weekends at Coachella. Their tour with Florence + The Machine this spring should spark a few new fans as well. Sounding like Depeche Mode and looking like The Cure, the boys in this English band were not even out of the womb when those bands were formed! Not to be confused with any small-town USA metal bands, The Horrors have been [...]

The DEPECHE MODE are returning to the studio next month and the MARTIN L GORE has just revealed the first bit of det for long_one #13. The record will be released no later than early 2013. It's still all a little hazy, but I've written a bit of music: we'll see each other soon and start working together. Yes. Screams. And if it's unleashed this year it'll be competing for me loving against new long_ones from the GARBAGE, the MADGE and the NO DOUBT. [...]

It's the very first time i'm listening from the Russian producer Vladimir Larionov aka The Frost . I'm totally in love for this remix he did for "Never Let Me Down Again" from Depeche Mode. This is smooth, happy and really beautiful. Can't wait to listen the rest of this "newcomer". I know he is already supported by a lot of nice from other blogs. Let's just keep an eye on him for the future! Golden music..... ♥ Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again (The Frost Remix) [...]
Thanks to Jean-Francois and crAsh for letting me know about this. This is likely the greatest thing you'll see today:

Aww yeahhh, the big man is back. Not Ian Paisley , he's barred after that time he drank too many jager bombs, tried to feel up one of the glass collectors, and then was sick all over his own tie and shirt. Not a pretty sight. No, I'm talking about the other big man - Andy Campbell . The last time he DJ'd at GIGANTIC there were reports of women throwing their underwear at him, and men trying to become his best mate. It was weird. The music *was* awesome though, just check out his previous set list [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , The Hit List Getty Images (2) If it seems like the hip new bands of 2012 remind you of something you've heard before, one, you're old, but two, you're right. The adage "everything old is new again" is particularly applicable to modern music and there are a lot of acts who feel mighty familiar right now. Sensing a time-based forensic piece, we jumped in the Official Spinner [...]

all photos by debi del grande When you work with bands like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Depeche Mode, you get a little recognition. KCRW knew this and booked Barry Adamson at the Hotel Cafe. Touring on his new album I Will Set You Free , this British rocker stood alone on the tiny stage belting out tunes in one of the smoothest voices I've heard in awhile. The set was too short—hopefully, he'll be back. —Debi Del Grande [...]
