If you caught any of Major Lazer's frantic, fun-as-hell festival-rocking live shows over the last few years, you likely saw girls twerking on speaker-risers, Skerritt Bwoy performing death-defying feats of daggering, and Diplo perched behind his DJ table, looking vaguely bemused at the whole spectacle. It's not every night that DJs go out of their way to perform live on television, but then again, Major Lazer isn't any ordinary brand of DJ. Last night, Diplo brought his production project to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon , where he performed "Get Free" alongside The Roots and Dirty Projectors' Amber Coffman and Dave Longstreth. So this is pretty awesome. The Dirty Projectors recently went on the Australia's Triple J radio and covered Usher's excellent, "Climax" for the station's well-named "Like A Version" segment . The Diplo -produced original is one of our our favorite songs by Usher , and Dirty Projectors' signature harmonies gives the song new life. It also makes us want to listen to "Get Free," the Amber Coffman featuring single from Major Lazer's forthcoming Free The Universe , which is out February 19. [...]
When Usher isn't whining, he's great. Like on one of 20122s best tracks , the Diplo-produced " Climax ". Unfortunately, we don't get too many songs like that from Mr. Raymond anymore, so we'll just have to find solace in "Climax" and, you know, this fucking stellar cover by Dirty Projectors .
