Snoop Dogg has embraced the Lion within… The Dogg Lionfather has shifted genres as easily as Mariah Carey switches key. It’s a beautiful thing. Snoop is that dude as far as raps go and him being tested with a different genre has shown that he is a songwriter first and foremost. Dig it.

Thomas Pentz, under the moniker, Diplo , is known for his eclectic mixes and unique DJ aesthetic, ranging from dubstep, electro, moombahton, and hiphop. The catalogue of artists whom he has worked with boasts the Australian hiphop songstress, Iggy Azealia, to the R&B heartthrob, Bruno Mars. 2012 marks the producer's busiest year as he worked on a number of tracks for mainstream artists including, "Climax" (Usher), "La La La" (Snoop Lion), "Thought of You" (Justin Bieber), "Get Free" (Major Lazer), and "Push and Shove" (No [...]
I remember a while back when we were talking about doing the JTTS Awards at Good Life ...Jesus Christ, doesn't anyone still have the shitty "notes" we took on that way back when? Knife or Treez? That shit would be amazing to look at/revive now, but anyway... It was going to be a fake award show where we shit on everyone in our beloved Boston rap/blog/DJ scene (or something), but anyway I remember we floated the idea of getting Andy Milonakis [...]

By Luke Tkalcevic (Sondrio) Read my first post on the presentation of music and an introduction to this series here . “Anyone that works in music knows it's not just about sitting home writing songs. It's about multimedia. I don't mean to say that I'm like a marketing executive at Facebook, but it's always about putting [yourself] out there as a phenomenon - as a culture itself. There is no same road to take as an artist, that a label will set out for you. It's like [...]
Moombahton, the genre which took over the airwaves of 2012, celebrates its 3rd birthday today. A fusion of dutch-house and reggaeton, moombahton was invented—if not accidentally discovered—by American producer Dave Nada . Turning down Afrojack's remix of Silvio Ecomo & DJ Chuckie's "Moombah" from 128BPMs to 108BPMs during a house party in Washington DC, Nada conceived a unique sound that had an instant reaction. Today Dave Nada plays out his hard-hitting Latin-flavored tunes as Nadastrom alongside production partner Matt Nordstrom. This is what he had to say about his creation today [...]
Having released their exquisite remix of The Prodigy’s ‘Breathe’ on the mighty XL Recordings just days ago (November 3rd), and with a coveted slot at Belgium's November edition of I Love Techno just around the corner (10th November), Canadian duo ZEDS DEAD now step things up yet another level as they announce a December European Tour of truly colossal proportions. Taking on a whopping 10 dates in 11 days throughout December, including another final showdown at I Love Techno in Montpellier, France, the boys will show fans on the continent exactly what [...]

Major Lazer teams up with UK dubstep heavyweight Flux Pavilion for new single “Jah No Partial”. Diplo and company take a sample of reggae icon Johnny Osbourne’s “Mr. Marshall” and flip it into a futuristic synth-heavy cut. Dance along with animated soldiers below. This is off the upcoming effort Feed the Universe , due out February 19th on Mad Decent/Downtown. You can buy ”Jah No Partial” in the meantime.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =nxNnnR4XCyk Though he and Switch may have parted ways, Diplo still continues to push strong with his dancehall-infused project Major Lazer , now with the help of Jillionaire and Walshy Fire . On "Jah No Partial", the Major Lazer crew adds UK bass boss Flux Pavilion into the mix, resulting in a full-sounding fusion of reggae and dubstep. The original sample comes from " Mr. Marshall [...]

Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire released a video last week discussing the background of an unreleased track featuring Flux Pavilion. Officially dropping today you can stream the song above and download via iTunes . Featuring a sample from one of my favorite reggae artists, Johnny Osborne, “Jah No Partial,” runs some heavy bass parallel with a funky jamaican vibe.
bout That Life" sounds like an acid induced psychedelic gem ripped straight from Diplo's infamous mix series, AEIOU. Featuring Jahan Lennon of the now deceased Mad Decent band Popo, you'll find yourself listening to this song on repeat long after the hallucinations go away.

There's no doubt Diplo is a busy man, touring the world solo as well as with Major Lazer , running his label Mad Decent , producing in studios, and is now about to release a series of photo zines. After writing the book " 128 Beats Per Minute " which depicted his journey touring the globe, Diplo has teamed up again with fellow photographer from the book Shane McCauley to start a series of photo zines titled "Blow Your Head". The zines will, like his book follow his journey as an artist as he's on the road traveling from [...]

Diplo ft. Jahan Lennon ~ " About That Life " Click here to view the embedded video. views: 77,086 Diplo dropping some new solo work and switching it up with some great psychedelic vibes on this track. Groooovy!

Diplo just dropped a very interesting track. It sounds like it could be right out of the 602s. He takes a different route this time with the acid folk rock sound and even includes a little yazz flute (Ron Burgandy Voice). The build up of this song is accompanied by what sounds like a revolver spinning. Suddenly the trippy vocals of Jahan Lennon come in to sooth your mind. If you close your eyes, you can almost imagine a field of fun loving people listening to good music, doing quality drugs and letting their minds be free. [...]

Diplo ft Jahan Lennon - About That Life [ mp3 SoundCloud] can it get more trippy than hippy step? Diplo's new song with Jahan Lennon (ex Popo) is highly addictive
"Psychedelic Southern gospel" from Mad Decent head honcho, remixer/producer extraordinaire Diplo .

Ripped from Diplo's mix series, AEIOU; 'About That Life', is a hypnotic psychedelic classic featuring the righteous vocals of Jahan Lennon formerly from Mad Decent brother band, Popo . Great one released by The Jeffrees . Cannot go wrong with this... Straying from his usual dance-friendly style, Diplo drops a new track titled "About That Life" that seems more suited for a hippe communion in the forest than a dance floor. Taking a note from Hot Chip's book, Diplo brings flutes into play, juxtaposing them with the soothing vocals of Jahan Lennon. Pull out a joint, light some incense, and stream the song below.

Just as trippy as the audio that was just released for "About That Life" featuring guest vocals from Jahan Lennon, the video kicks up the trippy meter a couple notches, in the best ways possible. Diplo captures a certain timeless 702s era vibe that works unbelievable well. I've played the song countless, times, and have already started replaying the video. Diplo really never disappoints, even when he drops a song that sounds literally like nothing he's ever released. Enjoy! Diplo - About That Life (Ft. Jahan Lennon) | Download Audio Check Out More Diplo through [...]
