One of the greatest music festivals in the world recently returned as a championship contender when they released their lineup for 2013. Lately, the festival seemed to rely mainly on its prestige alone. After all, it is a festival that spans over 11 days and has more than 800 acts performing on 11 different stages. The festival is a vision of the great late mayor of Milwaukee, Henry Maier, who wanted a massively relative festival that would compare to the joyous Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. He started the tradition that became Summerfest in 1968. The lineup [...]

At the turn of the year, there's always a few things we get excited for. There's always the excitement of new Music Ninja programs we're launching, plans of grandeur for the upcoming year, new album releases, and of course, music festivals. We're just out of the gate for 2013, and we have to say, we're really stoked for what lies ahead. First up on our list of festivals is the largest electronica festival in North America. The setting is perfect, as Miami is already a hub for the scene. But when you take the party outside, onto Bayfront [...]
Best of the Rest is a daily feature from Dancing Astronaut that recaps the most important posts of the day as well as the stuff we didn’t get to. With the rapidity that dance music news and releases come out it’s difficult for us to hit everything — we hope BOTR serves as a catch-all. Make sure to check it out at the end of each day to ensure you don’t miss anything! DA POSTS YOU [...]

To say that Krewella have had a big 2012 is a bit of an understatement. The hotly tipped EDM trio from Chicago have done nothing short of being everywhere that they need to be this year, gigging with the likes of Zedd, Diplo, Pretty Lights, etc. and in addition have just released a new Play Harder EP featuring the blogo-smash "Come & Get It". Fact - we couldn't possibly be banging any harder to "Come & Get It" at b.3.h.q. as of late. Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf and Rain Man from the Krewella crew [...]
New York City's tiny but mighty Randall's Island is about to get an electronic spanking. For the fourth year in a row, Electric Zoo is coming to New York City with full force and making sure we are all drenched in its downpour of bass, bleeps, treble, and wubs. It starts this Labor Day weekend on Friday and lasts until Sunday (8/31-9/02). Although I missed the first year, I have attended for the last 3 years; there is nothing to compare this festival to. There is this intense and bright energy in the air that you sense as you walk [...]

Back in May we spilled details on the 'Full Flex Express' train tour that'd send Skrillex, Diplo, Pretty Lights and Grimes among others on a train tour reminiscent of the 190702s festival express. With the last stop going down tonight in Vancouver some photos and footage have popped up online [via the Peasant Noise blog] showing the clash of rather unique producers. One of my personal favourites and good friend of Grimes, Blood Diamonds Skrillex... blowing minds! [...]

This weather is making it almost impossible to write anything half decent so I’ll keep this short. The Full Flex Express Tour might just be the craziest show you'll see this summer. With Grimes, Diplo, Pretty Lights, Skrillex, and MORE taking the stage, ya’ll know its going to be a night to remember...or completely forget. We want all the bb’s to experience this madness with us so we’re giving away 2 tickets for the show on Sunday. No skittles will be included. Here's what you have to do for a chance to [...]

The Full Flex Express Tour kicked off this past weekend, calling all aboard in Toronto and moving across six Canadian cities in just over a week. Joining frontman Skrillex on the tour was an eclectic mix of DJs and producers that don’t seem to fit the bill of any one genre - the trendsetters on the lineup makes the FFE mini-festival even more intriguing (not to mention the Janis Joplin-inspired concept of a train tour itself). As openers [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , Music Appreciation Hector Mata, AFP The King of Pop Michael Jackson made over $1 billion dollars in 2009. It was helped by the fact the "Beat It" and "Thriller" singer had an unprecedented year of sales success. That year Jackson sold 8.2 million albums throughout his catalog in the U.S. alone, which was more than any other artist. He also had four separate albums [...]
For a lot of us, summer has begun. Classes are over and it's time to let loose. A solid playlist of upbeat and positive music is what i have for you this week. Consequence of Sound' s Summer Tour Guide will lead you to the darkest, dankest (not every venue has a ventilation system, folks) concerts where you can dance the night away after spending too many hours in the sun. From Dirty Projectors to Phish to the Diplo/Grimes/Skrillex extravaganza that is the Full Flex Express, we've listed the best and brightest artists that are touring new or as-of-yet unreleased albums , touring around festival appearances, or just touring because it's damn fun. -Harley Brown Associate Editor Feature artwork [...]

Skrillex will embark upon his Full Flex Express tour, which is a train tour across Canada, with support from Pretty Lights, Diplo , Grimes, Koan Sound, and TokiMonsta. The idea is to recreate a similar train tour that took place over 40 years ago and featured timeless acts such as The Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. Skrillex and Co. were inspired by Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe, who did a similar tour last year. Unfortunately, the tour will make no U.S dates, but you can be sure there will be some highly entertaining YouTube clips that will come [...]

A Locomotive across the great white north is certainly not how I expected an Electronic tour to go, but, well, here we are. The Fullflex Express Canada Tour is bringing Skrillex, Diplo, Grimes, Tokimonsta, Koan Sound and Pretty Lights on a cross-country tour that will ship the artists on, you guessed it, their own private party train. The concerts will act as their own mini-festival, featuring a number of stages holding simeltanious performances, mini-festival style. Quoting Skrillex "we were really inspired when Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharp and those guys [...]
Skrillex, Pretty Lights, Diplo, Grimes (pictured), KOAN Sound and Tokimonsta will embark on a six-city train tour across Canada. Dubbed the Full Flex Express, the tour apparently is inspired by The Festival Express tour that took place along a similar route in 1970 featuring Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead and The Band. According to Skrillex, [...]

It's called the Full Flex Express and it's certainly the most buzzworthy tour to be assembled yet for this summer. Skrillex, Diplo, Pretty Lights, Grimes, Koan Sound and Tokimansta are going on a tour of Canada, on a train. Because how else would such a band of eccentric, partying musicians travel? By bus? No. The railroad it is. I'm not the biggest fan of anyone except Grimes but this tour will be a shit ton of fun if you can grab tickets. It's not just going to be a concert with six acts, but is being described more as a [...]

Skrillex is going to be doing a Canadian tour, and is bringing on some of his friends Diplo, Pretty Lights, Grimes, and KOAN Sound. They will be making 6 stops, all by train. As the Full Flex Express travels across Canada, they will all be working in a private studio car on the train. This idea is revived from the 1970 Express tour which featured Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, and The Band across Canada. If you are anywhere close to any of these dates, I would not miss it. And the rest of the world will see [...]

Step aside with your hot chocolate and Tom Hanks-looking conductors, Polar Express. This summer, the Full Flex Express is taking over the Canadian railway system. Headed by Skrillex, Diplo, and Grimes, the joint tour takes inspiration from 19702s Festival Express tour, which featured Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, and the Band traveling across Canada. Pretty Lights, KOAN Sound, and Tokimonsta will also join the gang as they hit each Canadian metropolis throughout July. Consult the full itinerary below. Choo-choo. Full Flex Express 2012 Tour Dates: 07/13 - Toronto, ON @ Fort [...]
