Hailing from Harlem, NYC, Azealia Banks is only 20-year-old but she seems poised to become the buzz artist of 2012. She already has over 50000 followers on Twitter (including Kanye West!) and the video for her breakthrough hit "2123 has been viewed 7 million times on YouTube! Classically trained in the Performing Arts, Banks is a truly versatile artist, citing influences ranging from Supergrass to Jay-Z, the Velvet Underground or Destiny’s Child! Personal and uncompromising, her songs showcase the young lyricist's implacable flow and obvious pop sensibility. Azealia Banks - [...]

"Don't fuck with ya bitch when the rum in her punch." Words to live by, I guess, if you're thinking about that sort of thing. Azealia Banks thinks so, at least. Her latest song, "Fuck Up The Fun" starts off with an informal, I'm-guessing-it's-freestyle dialogue with herself that has a borderline schizophrenic quality. Frankly, it's confusing. But the Diplo-produced (!) song picks up and really gets going when Banks lays her rat-a-tat flow over the snare drum line in the background. I'm not sure it makes sense, but it's different, which is what we've come to expect from this MC. [...]
Some big a-life love for this here - Diplo smashing this track out of the park. I've tried on the remixes but nothing beats the original so far - comment below if you think you can change my mind Related posts: Benny Benassi & Gary Go » Control (Extended Mix) Brutha » Hold Me Down Matt Corby » Brother

When I first saw Azealia Banks, I'd written her off as a copy of a copy, Dominique Young Unique by way of Amanda Blank and Kid Sister. Like Unique, Banks is under 21 and armed with a hyper-kinetic, sexualized flow, but the similarities end there and I've been eating crow for not taking notice sooner. Having attended New York's lauded LaGuardia High School (notable alums: Nicki Minaj, Kelis and Paul Stanley), Banks is more than a rapper--add "slash singer, slash actress" to her résumé--proudly displaying talent and range on "212." Accents, singing and smut come [...]

Yelawolf, last heard spitting fire on Shady 2.0 Cypher , is back with a hard hitting song off his new album ‘radioactive’. The whole album is good, but this song in particular caught my attention because of who it was produced by. Not only was it produced by two exceptional producers, but two very different ones. The synergy between rapper and producers is perfect with Yela’s higher piched, faster flow going over the slow growling beat. After a song like this I’d like to hear a lot more Yelawolf produced by Electronic producers. Turn it up and enjoy this [...]

Wale teamed with Big Sean and Diplo to bring you a sick new track. Diplo always produces fire, and this song is no different. Both Wale and Big Sean throw down some sick verses, and then with Diplo's edgy unique feel the song is complete. It's a track that after the first time through I was little unsure, and then the second time through I loved it. This is off of Wale's upcoming Ambition . Turn it up, enjoy! Wale - Slight Work (Ft. Big Sean) (Produced by Diplo) | Hulkshare | [...]

I took time outta my hard-pressed Sunday drinking rum&apple whilst dredging YouTube for WWF Women Wrestlers, to listen to one track on repeat and repeat and repeat - introducing Azealia Banks aka Miss Bank$. I've got huge portions of time for girls with dollar signs in their names that look like a T.L.C houseparty, so hunted her down for an interview. Barbiez get prepped - this gurl is gonna take things over swear down. Milk Teeth: I got introduced to your music earlier today and i'm totally in hard-love, Miss Bank$ , you [...]
The biggest game-changer whose name doesn't get thrown around at frat parties, mastermind Diplo ( what's a Diplo? ), performs on RBMA Radio with his set from HARD Miami 2011. The man created the record label Mad Decent to showcase the myriad of productions his hand played a part in, and he's part of a kind of cool side project with Switch: Major Lazer. In 2010 Rolling Stones magazine made Diplo one of "40 Reasons to be Excited About Music". Get excited to know that everything this man touches is gold, as opposed to pyrite (...but [...]
Where Were You When…. I couldn’t think of a better way to come back from the weekend hiatus. I can say that I participated in a glorious USA chant as soon as the TV came on. If you haven’t seen the animation of how it all went down, I can highly recommend it as some of the most Call of Duty/Jack Bauer ish I have ever seen. Here are some celebratory tracks, now go show your patriotism. Calvin Harris feat. Kelis - Bounce Diplo [...]

But the dope game is easy Well our favorite dirty south rapper is back to his usual antics. Gucci Mane will be headed back to jail for a misdemeanor battery charge. What went down exactly? Well I'm glad you asked......... So it went down like this; Gucci picked up a girl at the mall and asked her out for some breakfast. He then offered her $150 to go back to his hotel for the normal Gucci shenanigans. The woman refused and Gucci subsequently threw her [...]

Hi everyone, As you're probably already aware, (if you watch the news or follow DJ Silkworm on Twitter ), the New Zealand city of Christchurch (in which I happen to live) was hit by a pretty devastating earthquake , so between getting sent away with no internet and sorting everything out afterwards, I've been relatively busy, and hence haven't been updating DJ Silkworm. Unfortunately, I can't go back in time and create some more posts, so I'll just have to overload you with the sheer volume of a ton of mixes, some dubsteppy, some anything but. [...]
Also playing at last night's MTVu Woodie Awards was Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator and Hodgy Beats for a Tellytubby backdropped, dwarf-starring mini-me, amped-up crowd-surfing mashup of "Yonkers" and "Sandwitches" . If you follow Tyler on Twitter then you might know he's had a little mini-beef at a couple of Hip-Hop blogs, 2DopeBoyz and Nah Right. Unbeknownst to them he'd been advertising his upcoming second album "Goblin" on their site for days, and at the start of this performance you can hear Tyler give a shoutout to 2DB's Shake.....at the start [...]

Yo-Landi Vi$$er is in my All-Time-Babes-Of-My-Life eclipsing the standards of Mutya Buena and The Appleton Sisters and even Janet Jackson . She trickles verses off her sharp little tongue about Satan flirting, coats made of rats, dick enticing, ca$h pocketing and spliff passion. Lyrics like: "blindfold you, lock your hands up with the handcuffs even though you lying down, i can make you stand up spirits in the room tickle you like a sneaky prawn fuck a pen and pad, i write my rhymes with a Ouija board" Make me wanna get ZEF inked [...]
You know that dude who likes to pit two animals together and watch them fight, and then he records it and posts them to his site to the delight of the internet? What's that site called? Yeah that's the one, Gorilla Vs Bear! Anyway, the dude just dropped a remix that Toro Y Moi did of Tyler, The Creator 's jam-flavoured sammitch "French", slowed down, extended, layered with Chaz's silky smooth underwear sounds, and made a little less raw than the original. I gotta say though, I'm really fucking tired of [...]

I kinda feel like I've just been a part of something bigger than what I may fully realise at the moment. I'm only a recent fan of Tyler, The Creator and his OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, or Odd Future for short) cohorts, but having seen some of their videos and heard some of their tunes, when I found out they were playing on Jimmy Fallon I knew it was something I had to see. Based on every single thing you can possibly find out about them , [...]

"Time to scare white America"- OFWGKTA. Unless you've been sitting under a rock or got that broke ass dial-up, I'm sure you've heard of the phenomena known as Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. AKA the kids running around Los Angeles that frighten the shit out of you slash intrigue you. Odd Future is a collective of seriously raw hip hop music, and when I say they're kids I'm talking 16-23. This isn't like Usher inspired Bieber music talking about girls and lifting nick knacks from the corner shop; this is hardcore drugs, fucked up hate, and [...]

This video came out back in October and it was sent to me by my brother in December. Apparently Diplo has been up to some craziness in South Africa and produced this song for a group called, "Die Antwoord." My brother's only note with the video was, "This is the Citizen Kane of music videos." Before watching I wasn't sure if he was being serious or not when he said that and decided to watch and see for myself. After watching the I thought back to what my brother had said and began to laugh hysterically. Then I [...]
