Here's another cut from Dirty Projectors' forthcoming About To Die EP, a spare, swirling orchestra-accented cut called "While You're Here." Dave Longstreth takes the lead here and earlier today provided a dedication on Twitter. Hear it below. Read More...

Words by Jacob I have failed you, readers. I, your soundtracking guide through the seasons, dropped the ball on summer '12. Sure, I submitted an Independence Day column, both to help you host the world's most uncomfortable cookout and to support the eternal re-election of President Bill Pullman, but I skipped an actual summer edition, and for this I apologize. But now summer is at an end, and back to work we must go. Unless you have a real job, in which case [...]

Date Thursday, August 2nd Location Emos Doors 900 pm Tickets $20 from C3 I'm sure this show probably doesn't need much of an introduction, as it's one of the hottest tickets around, but we thought we'd give you a friendly reminder about one of the big shows coming into town on Thursday. It's Friday, and we're back with another installment of our regular roundup of downloadable MP3 goodness from around the web. This week, we get very excited about a taste of the new Swans album, even if it's only a truncated edit of a truly epic-sounding track. There's also a non-album Dirty Projectors track, Thurston Moore's new band, new work from Crystal Castles and The Mountain Goats, suitably whacked-out hip hop from Flying Lotus and Raekwon, and a suite of Scott Walker remixes. In other words, there's plenty of interesting sounds awaiting you after the jump, and since they won't cost [...]
The Hood Internet are at it again, finding connections in the most absurd places. This time they found magic in the mashing of Danny Brown's summer anthem "Grown Up" and the Dirty Projectors' unlikely sing-along "Gun Has No Trigger." Damn, we're glad there's a Hood Internet out there. Danny Brown x Dirty Projectors: "Grown Up Has No Trigger" // MP3 Read more articles like " Danny Brown x The Dirty Projectors: "Grown [...]

Chicago masher-uppers the Hood Internet are uncommonly good at what they do, and they also deserve credit for finding possible connections between a couple of great and pretty-new tracks. In the case of "Grown Up Has No Trigger," their latest effort, they're pairing " Grown Up ," Danny Brown's antic but heartfelt childhood memoir, with " Gun Has No Trigger ," Dirty Projectors' alternate-universe James Bond theme. Download the result below. Read More...

Fresh off their seventh full-length, Swing Lo Magellan , Brooklyn's Dirty Projectors seem to keep us on our feet with an ongoing North American tour - and wait - a new single! "Buckle Up" , a limited edition 73, is the six-piece's rawest effort to date: clocking at just under two minutes, it's the band's most lo-fi attempt. The track, not in typical Dirty Projectors -style, has lead singer/guitarist Dave Longstreth 's vocals and guitar work [...]

![[mp3] Lushlife // She’s a Buddhist, I’m a Cubist (Remix)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4382002_lg.jpg)
Philadelphia rapper/producer Lushlife delivered one of my favorite mixtapes of 2011. His No More Golden Days tape featured standout tracks such as "Adult Goth," which featured Das Racist/Greedhead head honcho Heems, and "Motivation," which borrowed one of the best Clams Casino beats of 2011 (not counting the completely righteous beat from A$AP Rocky's "Palace," which still resides in my most played iTunes list this year). The clear standout from the tape, however, was "She's A Buddhist, I'm A Cubist." The original is a stellar, old-school cut that features a great guest verse from Memphis rapper Cities Aviv in [...]

The long time knock on the Dirty Projectors before the release of the incredibly inventive but palatable Bitte Orca was that Longstreth was just too challenging. No one ever doubted his musical talents or virtuosity, but whether his music was a victim of his own genius was the question. And Bitte Orca seemed to answer that very question by blending Longstreth’s musical nerdyness with hooks that half of Brooklyn was whistling and R&B rhythms that made his artistic quirks feel almost cool. You might think that means that Longstreth and the sirens compromised something for the [...]

Irregardless of all the elation innately located within each and every opus emitted from the erudite David Longstreth et al. – however conscientiously subversive – it is one subtly tarnished by a patina of rather depressive reality. For his Dirty Projectors , despite being just about the finest baroque pop alt.orchestra to contemporarily be entangled in our ethernet cables and whatnot, are markedly a fundamental of noughties counterculture when they really – albeit in some fictitious and ATP-curated synchronous universe – should surely be revered as the primary authors of mainstream culture; venerated as veritably impeccable composers of Handelian [...]
Dirty Projectors stopped in KEXP's studio for a live session yesterday, a set that featured two previously unheard tracks from the forthcoming Swing Lo Magellan . Head to Fake Walls to hear rips of the tracks. "Offspring Are Blank" is a building rock arrangement featuring signature Dirty Pros harmonies and "The Socialites" is an understated, Coffman-led shuffle. You can hear the whole performance by heading to KEXP's archive page , selecting June 21 and the 9:00 AM Variety Mix show. The performance happens at about 9:40.
