I realize I am putting this out really late. I always put this off until winter break, thinking I'll have tons of time to listen to the albums, but always underestimate how much I actually need to listen to. But honestly, that isn't a bad thing. I think we are living in a time where there is a lot more new and interesting stuff coming out than ever before. Last year, I probably listened to about 75 albums for my top albums article. Some of them only half way through (because I could tell they wouldn't make the cut) and [...]

Hey, look at that - we're still alive! Complete truth: I meant to post this a good week earlier, but was having server troubles. 2009 was a rough year, personally, for your poor webmistress, but it would take quite something to stop the compiling of year end lists. Though, 2009 wasn't such a competitive year for music, either, since this list wasn't the battle it was last year. No agonizing "I can't believe I have to leave this out!" cut offs, no close calls. Just 10 (... 11) albums that seemed to be the only things worth gracing [...]
Dirty Projectors - "Emblem of the World" ; At some point we're probably all going to get sick and tired of hearing great new tunes from the Dirty Projectors, but until we reach that point we will continue on like normal enjoying all of their gorgeous harmonies and fractured melodies pieced together to form perfect pop music. This B-Side to the new "Ascending Melody" 7" is just what we've come to expect from these guys and we're just gonna bask in its warm glow a little longer. Grade : A- [...]

NOTE: I didn't include singles for 2010 albums like "Cousins" and "Norway" because in my mind they are 2010 songs. So that's why they are not in the list. Also, I considered Local Natives a 2009 release since I was following them since last year and heard their album via the UK release. Similarly, that is why an album like the Rural Alberta Advantage has no songs on here. Because I included them in my list last year! Without further a do, here are my favorite (or the best!) songs of 2009 in my mind! : [...]

Dirty Projectors lahjoittaa kaksi kappaletta sisältävän singlen sähköpostiosoitetta vastaan. Osoitteensa voi kirjoittaa oheiseen tilaan: Singlen kappaleet Ascending Melody ja Emblem of the World juontavat juurensa viime vuonna julkaistun Bitte Orca -levyn sessioista. Yhtye itse kuvailee kappaleita näin: "THESE SONGS ARE FROM THE BITTE ORCA SESSIONS. THEY ARE AWESOME BUT THEY JUST DIDN'T FIT WITH THE VIBE OF THE ALBUM. KINDA LIKE SOUL TO SQUEEZE ON BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK ."
