After dropping the critically acclaimed album Swing Lo Magellan , the indie band Dirty Projectors had a slew of remixes that followed . One of the musicians to take a turn on their lead single "The Socialites" is Hot Chip 's Joe Goddard . Adding some xylophones and soft drum samples for an airy beat, Goddard makes a smooth remix driven by Amber Coffen 's charming vocals. Packaging up some unreleased remixes to their lead single "The socialites", the group prepares to drop a 123 vinyl later this May.

Major Lazer feat. Amber Coffman - “Get Free”
Dirty Projectors - “Gun Has No Trigger”

It was a cold and rainy day but didn't stop people for Record Store Day 2012. Surprised by the turnout when I got to Vertigo Records at 8:30am. There was already people in line, I was around the 20th person. Last year I was one of five people who got there at around that time. I guess the buzz and hype surrounding Record Store Day is a good thing for the indie record shops. I totally zoom by this year's event. Here is a list of what I bought. [...]

You Against The Larger World won't be appearing on Dirty Projectors' new upcoming album Swing Lo Magellan , however they did feel compelled to give it the light of day. Released as part of Record Store Day, it is a self-confessed demo with the band tweeting yesterday "i wrote a ton of songs when we were upstate last year. here's one that didn't go further than the demo..." . Check out what's going on with Record Store Day .

Dirty Projectors - Gun Has No Trigger Now Playing – twice every week, a roundtable of our writers will give their views on some of the recently-released new tracks. It’s as simple as that! If you want to tell us what you think of the song, feel free to leave a comment below. Track: ‘Gun Has No Trigger’ by Dirty Projectors Average grade: 6.2 Kenneth: Not quite what I'd [...]

In their first offering since 2010, Dirty Projectors do not disappoint. "Gun Has No Trigger" is an instrumentally sparse song, consisting of only vocals, drums and very subdued bass guitar. The track highlights the vocal prowess of David Longstreth along with the ethereal accompaniment provided by Angel Deradoorian, Haley Dekle and Amber Coffman. The interplay between the choir-like backing vocals and theLongstretch's poetic heights is an exercise in deceptive depth. After one listen it appears as if the song does not have too much to offer when placed alongside Dirty Projectors' other more experimental work. [...]

Sometime I really wish I understood exotic oriental languages. That's why I'm so glad Dirty Projectors have a new song translated from a super cool ancient language. Check it out in this vid. posted by @EstabanBelChere
Dirty Projectors release a new single, teasing toward the release of the band's latest album, Swing Lo Magellan . It'll be out on July 10th via Domino. While Dirty Projectors has had its accessible moments in the past-and the group's albums have definitely been foreshadowing a move toward poppier sounds-it's pretty surprising to hear Dave Longstreth and company on a track like this. "Gun Has No Trigger" has a pretty straightforward execution, avoiding the of disorienting tempo changes and angular guitar leads that made Bitte Orca a difficult but fun record. While this track isn't [...]

Dirty Projectors' 2009 album Bitte Orca was touted by many as the record of the year, its left-of-centre experimentation enthralling almost all who heard it. They are scheduled to release a new LP this year and with their label, Domino, uploading Gun Has No Trigger to its Soundcloud page, you can only assume that this is its first airing. Compared to what Dirty Projectors have released in the past this is almost a pop song, with a soulful vocal and unfussy drums. No word yet on any album details, so for now, [...]

What would nature sound like if it was morphed into an electronic symphony? I'm pretty sure it would sound something like this single, "Don't Get Stuck (Proud Elephants)," by Delicate Steve. Delicate Steve was created by New Jersey's 23-year-old Steve Marion, who [...]

Click image to download more songs by this artist Sounds like: Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors "St. Vincent - Big Black Mariah (Tom Waits Cover)" What's so good? St. Vincent: a bad ass but melodic chanteuse. Tom Waits: a bad ass who's managed to so redefine melody (at least singing-wise) that the form is often unrecognizable when he's through with it. And yet, St. Vincent's live [...]
