During a recent session for the Australian radio station Triple J, Dirty Projectors took it upon themselves to cover Usher's " Climax ," the one recent radio hit that shows the sort of melodic sophistication that the group loves. Dirty Projectors covered arguably the best song of 2012 during a recent visit to Australia's Trip le J Radio . The performance of Usher's "Climax" was a part of their Like a Version series where they ask a visiting artist to cover a song of thier choice. You just know this is going to be a good one without even watching, right? Check it out below. ( via )

When Usher isn't whining, he's great. Like on one of 20122s best tracks , the Diplo-produced " Climax ". Unfortunately, we don't get too many songs like that from Mr. Raymond anymore, so we'll just have to find solace in "Climax" and, you know, this fucking stellar cover by Dirty Projectors . I could go on and on about how they do the song justice and then some, but you should just hit play below and enjoy.

Dirty Projectors stopped by triple j tv for the "Like a Version" series and took on a surprising cover: "Climax" by Usher. An indie rock band taking on "Climax" seems like an unlikely choice, but if they haven't already proven it, this vocal flex makes it pretty clear that Dirty Projectors can do pretty much whatever the fuck they want.

Apart from those few Folk blogs you follow, can you think of many sites and blogs who didn't have Usher 's stunning "Climax" on their year-end list of the best songs of 2012? Nor can I, we certainly did, we know what's up. Populating the other big year-end list of albums was Dirty Projectors 's latest masterpiece Swing Lo Magellan , so it's quite appropriate that when the band were on tour down under they visited Triple J's radio station [...]

Dirty Projectors end Friday with their third video of the week. Following “Offspring Are Blank” and “Swing Lo Magellan” , the band has revealed the official visuals for "The Socialites". Also utilizing footage featured in the band’s short film “Hi Custodian” , this latest clip sees singer Amber Coffman traipsing through an oceanside meadow. Watch it below (via Pitchfork TV ).

After releasing the visuals for "Offspring Are Blank" earlier this week, Dirty Projectors have now also shared the video for "Swing Lo Magellan." The clip, which the band's Twitter account states was done in one take, features just frontman David Longstreth walking along a desolate street while performing the song. For a group that's typically fairly intricate, the simple video suits one of their most refreshingly uncomplicated tracks. Take a look below:
