Long Days? We've all had 'em. If you're working away this Good Friday you'll doubtless be only too aware of that fact though here to haul you through are Belgian duo I will, i swear . Comprising cotton candy-soft voiced Fien Deman and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Van Landegem, the pair find themselves at the forefront of a new tide of Belgian talent prompted by the international prominence afforded Jarri Van der Haegen's Disco Naïveté , I don't doubt. They've a couple tracks up on Unday Records' SoundCloud the second of which, Sleep, recalls the muted grandeur of Sigur [...]
Thanks to Disco Naïveté and his brilliant ability to follow up on great artists such as Ofei , from London . We were right in the middle of our #flashmoblogging home run when this video was posted. Ofei drops another banger upon us, it's called 'Fate' and you're going to love this number : Click here to view the embedded video. Related posts: Ofei - London [video] Py - [...]
The average Londoner's grasp on the grammatical intricacies of the English language, I'd reckon, is pretty questionable at best. Lord knows I face a daily struggle with the proper usage of the comma – punctuation was never my strong point. Though the capital-based trio fronted by Hannah Reid, London Grammar , have emerged with an unquestionably thorough understanding of the concept of 21st century popular song. To paraphrase Mr. Esser, they've got it in a headlock. And their début offering, Hey Now, illustrates this comprehensive expertise in the contemporary with aplomb, Reid's heavy vocal recalling that of a certain [...]

The Recommender prides itself on being well-networked. We put a lot of effort into sharing, chatting, tweeting and generally being an all-round friendly blog, especially to other music bloggers. We understand the time and effort that goes into making a successful music blog and so we sympathise with the many thousands of other bloggers out there, who put their hearts and passions into their spaces. There really is no better place in the underground for discovering new music than blogs. As an annual “thank you” we open our pages to poll those bloggers about who they believe are [...]
We spoke to the connoisseurs of cutting-edge sounds.

Following our last piece about the wonderfully exciting and massively hyped artist, Flume, you would be forgiven for thinking The Recommender might have turned into a hit-chasing buzz blog, seeing as we're now about to recommend yet another artist that's recently gained plenty of blog inches. Hopefully regular readers will be aware that we prefer to search out new music independently, only ever writing up someone with integrity intact. We like to list artists that have not only caught our attention, but that have genuinely stolen our hearts, and just because today's recommendation has been playing the heartstrings of others [...]
People love lists, and people love music, and some people love music blogs, and then there are others who enjoy Twitter, and then we have a few people who enjoy them altogether. With this list though, it's not just about who's the biggest music blog or who posts the most, it's a mix between blogs who post regularly fantastic content and others who post less content to their own blog but who's Twitter game is on fire. We follow and interact with these blogs on a daily basis, and you should too. Here they are in alphabetical order. [...]

Not to be muddled with that extortionate haunt down the comparatively plush end of Camden, KO KO is the moniker of Los Angeleno siblings Ryan and Taylor Lawhorn and, between the breezy Miike Snow slush of Float and the Auto-Tuned sterility of So Strange with its Zager & Evans-esque plodding chord progression lies two minutes, thirty-four of saddening perfection: Intermission. Far from the preordained interval its designation may insinuate, it's the utterly spectacular centrepiece; the essential listen. Its slippery guitar lines as simple as they are irresistible; its vocal harmonies dripping in a lukewarm reverb it's evocative of [...]

Two years ago, I ran a series of guest posts from people involved in Irish music featuring their top 5 Irish acts at that moment. This time around, I thought I'd shift the focus to international and ask a similar questio...
disconaivete: CFCF’s NIGHT BUS II has been on repeat here ever since it was released a couple of...

These two artists are a match made in 80's Stephen King film-heaven (see Firestarter ). On this amazing remix for "Klutch", Roman provides the fluttering, beguiling melodies that recall Nina Hagen and Roxy Music while Seth Haley ( Com Truise ) adds gorgeous layers of dripping disco synths. It re-imagines an era when our music culture was so malleable and excited about the use of electronics. Check [...]

We think that a tidy looking blog is a good thing. A fine aesthetic, pretty colours, big buttons and a design that's easy on the eye creates a great first impression to anyone visiting for the first time, helping to ensure a readers return. Disco Naïveté is one such blog, as the editor, Jarri, has selected to use Tumblr as his blog host of choice, designing one of the most gorgeous blogs in existence. Don't be fooled by the glossy looks though, as behind the beauty of Disco Naïveté is a taste in music so deadly it [...]
Tweet I stopped following Beast Coast on Twitter a while ago because I was tired of reading about her getting stoned or how awesome her cat was. It's a cat, all cats are awesome! Get over it! Anyway, to celebrate herself almost reaching the 50k follower mark on Twitter she's uploaded a new track called "How They Want Me To Be" in stereotypical Best Coast fashion, reverb-laden harmonies and draped with that drudging cloudy Summer sound. Naturally the [...]

Thanks to music safe-haven disconaivete & Sam Sparro ’s twitter feed , I stumbled upon (yes, I said it, but only because twittered upon seemed just so naughty…) Bjork ’s latest single Crystalline, which officially premieres June 30. As disconaivete stated, I truly believe she “reclaims whatever throne she used to have.” One part VOLTA (the beats/bass) and one part VESPERTINE (the whimsical chimes) Bjork has once again created a masterpiece. I’m excited to see what her album portends, especially with the audio track on her website (click her name above) describing how she has [...]

Björk 's new single "Crystalline" is available to stream over at Disco Naïveté . The song crawls along for a few minutes until it explodes into an IDM wonderland. Amazing work.

Insanely proud to have the honor to present - together with our gloomy pals over at Gucci Goth , and in corporation with the fine folks of a2n - some massive late night glory at Berghain Kantine this Saturday: last year's favorite NFOP darling Tom Krell aka How To Dress Well is coming to town for his only show in Germany, supported by a performance by marvelous Paris/Berlin songstress Laura Butterclock and a DJ set by oOoOO . We'd love to celebrate this wonderful evening together with you. [...]

And so it happens again. Last week when I posted the track from their upcoming split 73 with Wavves I mentioned how the tracks that Best Coast have released after their album came out have all been better than some of the tracks on the album, and here's another example to prove my point. Taken from another split from Volcom with Jeff The Brotherhood that's out now, it's again standard Best Coast with juvenile lyrics, but it's fun and catchy, and if you enjoy something then who gives [...]
So colour me confused (actually I did spell "colour" correctly, thank you very much) but the tunes I've heard coming outta the Best Coast camp that aren't on their album, have been better than most of the songs that are on the album. Their Christmas jam they did with Wavvess and released as part of a Target compilation was awesome, and this new one (a split 73 between the two called "Summer Is Forever") is better than at least three of [...]
