My first DJ gig in Seattle was a weekly shoegaze/dreampop happy hour at the Baltic Room. This is like, 10+ years ago. It was a great time, the bartenders were cool, members of local bands like C'est La Mort, Kinski, The Turn-ons and Voyager One would come by and I had a chance to show [...]
We've been hinting on what we're excited about in 2012, And Seattle's Stephanie is right at the top of the list. Tomorrow night at Neumo's will be another chance to believe the deserved hype around these guys. They'll be playing songs from their upcoming One Glove mini-album, produced by another fellow on the bill, the [...]
I'm being a little lazy here, but wanted everyone reading in Seattle to get out on Thursday night for a perfect evening. I have all but the last issue (ahem, guys) of I WANT YOU magazine, and it's exactly what I want from print these days - visual art. Each issue is a mini art [...]
While we wait patiently for another Boards of Canada record, and there will be one according to the black square on the discography section of their website, we have a little treat to share with you! The insanely talented DJ Food took the pre-release of BOC's Geogaddi back in 2002 and made a 20 minute [...]
![[Tight Space] Fool's Gold Tight Space starts July 20th | Chromeo x A-Trak x Treasure Fingers @foolsgoldrecs](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3551624_lg.jpg)
First off, congratulations goes out from us to the whole Fool's Gold crew on the launch of their new retail space at 536 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn. Reports from various sources around the web all tell us the good news we expected: the space is pretty spectacular and anyone who attended Friday's grand opening bore witness. Now open for business officially, they've decided to collabo with Hitachi's G-Connect to create a new streaming live experience called Tight Space starting on Wednesday, July 20th. [...]
For over a decade now, Alain Macklovitch has been a prominent name in the DJ world. But winning the Disco Mix Club's Wold DJ Championship in 1997 as a 15-year-old prodigy was just the start of w... Wow, I'm sure cranking these things out! Here's hoping you've enjoyed our COLORCASTS so far. This issue is a little bit more "out there." If you received a CD version of this at OBSCURE + OBSCENE at PONY, you know what I mean. This month's zine features a UFO pamphlet, with the highlight being a picture of Michael Jackson and E.T. - or as I like to refer to them, Alien vs. Predator. Oh, snap! There are recordings of witnesses recounting their own run-ins with UFO's and some amazing tracks by Guitar, Seeland, Secret Shine, Glass Candy, O.M.D. [...]
![[New Music] Mobroder Mixtape – Spank Rock x HOFF x Blu Jemz](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3321575_lg.jpg)
For two years now, I have waited impatiently for the Mobroder mixtape to arrive, and at long last, the glory eagle has landed. The Mobroder concept looks like this: add one part Spank Rock , one part HOFF and one part Blu Jemz & find yourself transported back to 1983 Miami with disco legend Mobroder as he struggles to remain relevant in a world where Italo-Disco could bring an end to his once glorious career and love life. Inspired by Cerrone's classic [...]

From the invite: Dig out your leg warmers, sweater dress and geometric earrings… the Sisters are taking you back to the 802s! Join us at [...]
![[ViDEO] Chrissy Murderbot x DJ Spinn – Bussin’ Down](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3306188_lg.jpg)
Chicago juke mastermind , Year Of Mixtapes ninja and one of my favorite dance music producers on planet earth Chrissy Murderbot ' has a frame-bumping new EP out on Planet Mu meant to crash through your speakers get the blood flowing. The remixes on Bussin' Down EP waver between 130 and 160 bpm's of pure juke fantasy. If this shit does not make you dance, have someone check for pulse and call 911 because obviously you are DEAD. Paired up with [...]
![[Mixtapes] Xxxchange x Devlin x Darko – Couche Tard](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3298949_lg.jpg)
In it's original release, the now-classic (and still bumping as f**k) mixtape Couche Tard pulled together elements from all over the place - mixing tracks from Spank Rock with disco, funk, breakdance and even doo-wop, the crew of Xxxchange, Devlin and Darko completely outdid themselves. According to Xxxchange, "Couche Tard is the name of a convenience store in the french part of canada. It translates roughly to "we go to bed late" or "we stay up late". Luckily, the sessions made it to Soundcloud (in advance of the crew's soon-to-come [...]

The Color Awesome COLORCAST is the companion to my monthly DJ night, OBSCURE+OBSCENE at Seattle's PONY . It happens on the second Thursday of every month. This month's mix is a sun drenched affair - an attempt to jump start warmer weather in the Pacific Northwest. I hope you enjoy it. Track listing and download or stream after the jump. Here's COLORCAST TWO 1. Saint Etienne - The Way We Used To Live (Dot Allison Mix) (Heavenly) 2. Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy (Air France Remix) (XL) [...]

The 2010 Love Parade happens in Duisberg, Germany on 24 July 2010. People will be raving in the streets. DJ's will be tearing it up on the ones and twos. Giant balls will fall from the sky and land on you. Are you planning to go? Are you a dancer? Are you going because you love the music or because you need a reason to put on a full-body green spandex outfit, eat a handful of ecstasy and chew on a binky in Germany as you dance in the streets with random strangers? Do you believe in [...]

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Computer Games (Extended Version) by loudersoft I never stop loving the idea of the great Ryuichi Sakamoto being in this band. Go with it, and wait at least a full two minutes for the groove to kick in. Yellow Magic Orchestra - Computer Games (Extended Version) [119 BPM] [ Yellow Magic Orchestra info on Discogs ]
If you were one of DJ AM 's millions of fans, there was no way to think of him without recognizing his public appeals regarding his personal struggles with addiction. At the height of his fame as DJ, Adam Goldstein was irrepressible and tireless in his quest to help those suffering from addiction, through both financial contributions and personal counseling of those seeking to conquer their addiction and alcoholism. His death at the hands of drugs coincided with the completion of his impassioned MTV reality show Gone Too [...]

( Editor's note: this originally appeared on Loudersoft on 4 March 2009. I've updated the post to include MP3's of the tracks so that, hopefully, it will pull people from MP3 search engines to discover Kutiman and his site. It's definitely my favorite website of 2009 and, without a doubt, one of my favorite experiences of the past decade.) Perennial Loudersoft favorite (and Israeli soul brother extraordinaire) Kutiman has changed the game up inna massive style with http://thru-you.com - wherein he takes pieces of videos from [...]
(Big ups to DISCO ATTACK via Gorilla vs. Bear )

Prince Klassen is one of my favorite DJ / Producer / Remixers in the world at the moment. Roxy Music is one of my favorite bands of all time, a master act of the 1970's and 80's who straddled the lines of rock, dance and pop music, led by the inscrutable Bryan Ferry. This re-edit of "Love is the Drug", nearly a perfect song by our standards, just popped fresh into our inbox. And it's impressive - another in a series of outstanding edits that Prince Klassen has given us of classic tracks. Like [...]
