Tweet Listen to Chairlift 's new album "Something" below. We've heard Chairlift singer Caroline Polachek working with Guards on their debut EP for the track "Trophy Queen" , and she's appeared on a couple of other releases, but as Chairlift it's been a cool three plus years since we've had new music from [...]

< After a busy weekend at After the Jump Fest , we're back to the real world. In this version of the real world, Chairlift (who were recently ranked the #1 band in NYC by The Deli Magazine) have a new video out for their song, "Ceiling Wax", and we missed it because we were out drinking and stuff. Said video involves interpretive dance and features, well, dancing and comes from their debut album, Does You Inspire You , re-released by Columbia Records in late [...]
Chairlift are from a haunted hotel in Colorado but moved to Brooklyn to pursue music more intensely and to be intensely pursued by people who recognize them from an iPod commercial. They speak from Paris in between kissing graves and delivering DJ sets. Their album Does You Inspire You has been re-released on Columbia. This interview by Chris Ziegler.
This debut album from Brooklyn three piece electronic/indie pop band Chairlift is a remixed, remastered reissue of the original CD,which came out in September 2008. This band formed at the University of Colorado in 2005.Their music is ambient and mostly background type music. They sound a little like Eighties band Berlin. The album is quite a [...]

First of all, I think Does You Inspire You is a brilliant album title. Second of all, Don't Give a Damn is my favorite song on this album. The general consensus is that the song is about two juxtaposed lovers who are sick and tired of the nonsense etc. Given the concept romantic that I am I've taken the liberty of interpreting it as a general attitude toward any relationship, be it business or personal. In the words of Van Morrison, "Meet them half way with love, peace [...]

Chairlift became an indie sensation last year when their song was used in an iPod Nano commercial. Now the trio from Brooklyn have a new video for the track "Evident Utensil". The video is a real trip. Singer Caroline Polachek rolls around the frame in crazy, warped pixelation as her band mates seemingly stalk her in the fuzzed-out background. The track is definitely a lot stranger than "Bruises", but also way more interesting. Chairlift are playing BAM on February 13th with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. The LP Does You Inspire [...]
Historically one-hit wonders were more a result of providence and happenstance. If you were in the right place at the right time, and knew somebody who knew somebody, you could get your single played on a radio station or introduced on the dance floor and before long - if you were lucky – you ushered in your prophetic fifteen minutes of fame. Today, one hit wonders are programmable. Technology has allowed for both the instantaneous transfer of music and the rapid grassroots impetus needed to be heard. There is no need to leverage yourself into that position anymore, [...]

So I know this isnt really a "new" song to most people, as anyone with a TV has already seen the bloody iPod commercial. Regardless, I've been hooked on this tune for about a month now so it needs to be posted. Bruises comes to us by way of the Brooklyn electronic-pop group Chairlift and is the first single off the band's second album Does You Inspire You. At the time of this post, Bruises has peaked on the UK Singles Chart at #50 and on Billboard 's Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles [...]
Can I blog anymore about Chairlift ? The answer is yes, and now they are featured in the new iPod nano commercial !!! Congratulations, Chairlift! You deserve it. I hope this ad does for you what it has done for others that were previously bestowed the honor (You should know that I have been a loyal Apple customer since 1993). In fact, as much as I like Broken Social Scene, I don't like Feist. I would have never ended up liking "1234" if it weren't for that iPod nano ad. Also, [...]

Last night, 'Sup Magazine hosted Chairlift , Titus Andronicus , and Au Revoir Simone at Lit Lounge . If you don't know already, I'm absolutely crazy about Chairlift ( read more here ). NME agrees , naming "Planet Health" as a track of the week. Judging by the crowd last night, it's apparent that many people are showing Chairlift a lot of love. A few minutes before they went onstage, Grizzly Bear 's Chris Taylor walked through the door in a signature plaid shirt. I may [...]

This post definitely deserves much more depth. Alas, I have no time and I am going to be MIA for a month. Not too long ago, I blogged about an awesome song by Chairlift . Now that I have discovered more of their songs (Thanks, David!) and have finally seen them live, I am completely hooked. And you will be too. With so many bands based in Brooklyn, it's hard to keep up with the scene. Thinking back to the obscure acts I've seen this year, I [...]
