How fucking great is this band? I've had the pleasure of sampling the debut album from Trailer Trash Tracys over the past month and it doesn't disappoint. Fans of Julee Cruise, Portishead and even Phantogram are going to go nuts on January 16, courtesy of Double Six/Domino Records. When I first read the tweet from Domino Records about Austra covering Roy Orbison, I thought they had mistyped and meant to type kitschy act, Joy Orbison. Katie Stelmanis' voice on this cover sounds reminiscent of what could've worked in the Disney classic of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves." You know you've done something right when your record label repackages your album and releases a newer version of it in the same year. In the case of Toronto's Austra , it's just a small indication of the monster year they have had. Feel It Break (Deluxe Version) will feature not only the original album, but a host of b-sides, remixes and covers, including this cover of the Roy Orbison track Crying . Courtesy of the fine folks at Domino Records , here's a re-recorded version of "Strangling Good Guys" from Trailer Trash Tracys . You'll notice that the drums and bass are much heavier. The original version can be found on their 2009 double A-side single, "Candy Girl" (via No Pain in Pop), but I'm pretty sure any vinyl copies of that release are all sold-out.
