Dorian from the Long Blondes is in today's Telegraph , which reports on the treatment he's getting following his stroke: [T]he musician is now undergoing neurological physiotherapy – including training sessions with a "revolutionary" mechanical glove – and is optimistic about regaining movement in his right hand. The device, called a SaeboFlex, can benefit patients by supporting their wrists and helping them grasp and release objects. "It's a fantastic service, it's helping tremendously and I think it can work wonders for me and others – it's almost like a gym for my hand," [...]

OK, OK, so the EYHO Blog is certainly not the first site on the Net to report this news but nevertheless the demise of one of Sheffield's finest exports, The Long Blondes, deserves a brief but heartfelt obituary. News of the band's split first reached my ears via Tuesday's NME newsletter (yeah, sorry folks, I have always meant to unsubscribe to this since it's like the newsletter equivalent of having a rapist drop a dog shit through your letterbox every week) but if I hadn't happened to be sufficiently bored to bother reading it I [...]

(photo by Devon Banks) Um, and Kate Jackson is already working on her solo career? Word? Sheffield group The Long Blondes decided to call it quits yesterday, as the stroke that guitarist Dorian Cox had suffered over the summer (leading the band to cancel a ton of dates) threatened the band's future. Now, a day later, news is breaking that fiery frontwoman Kate Jackson is already at work on her own post-Blondes career. Says Jackson of her plans to record her own material: "I'm writing a lot of [...]

The Long Blondes have split, following Dorian's stroke earlier this year. He posted farewell blog on MySpace; We have decided to call it a day. The main reason for this is that I suffered from a stroke in June and unfortunately I do not know when / if I will be well enough to play guitar again. On behalf of the band I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who ever came to one of our shows, bought one of our records or danced to one of [...]
The Long Blondes aren't exactly the most famous of bands and they've only released two albums, both of which have lingered at the bottom, or outside, the top 40. So you wouldn't say they are prime candidates for a compilation album. But like plenty of post-punkers before them, they have a lot of loose change, a load of B-sides and other rarities floating about, out there on the internets, out of reach for the average music fan. To remedy this situation, they've decided to release a compilation of their early singles, uninventively titled - Singles. The release [...]

The Long Blondes have once again been forced to cancel tour dates as guitarist Dorian Cox continues to recover from a serious illness. The band has canceled all their August dates, which consisted only of festival appearances. The band previously canceled the remainder of their July tour after Cox fell ill. The good news is that Cox seems to be recovering. In a Myspace blog post the band wrote: We are happy to be able to tell you that Dorian is improving slowly and is on the [...]
