It's not for fear of getting all but absolutely swept away by Blue Hawaii that we're back extolling the virtues of the Montréal-based duo comprising Agor Cowan and Raphaelle Standell-Preston, for to paraphrase Mykki Blanco everything they touch turns to motherfuckin' gold. And live, whether that aptly be at Club Motherfucker's 10th anniversary celebrations or at last weekend's The Great Escape , is when they really come into their own: they cut loose and positively lacerate the itself sublime Untogether LP of earlier on in the year, only to recompose it [...]

The spiritual uplift of communal folkies Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros is in full force on "Better Days," the first single off the 11-member L.A. troupe's forthcoming third full-length. The album, a self-titled affair, will be out July 23 via Community Music, and this single finds frontman Alex Ebert and crew dispensing their Summer of Love vibe in energetic but stripped-down fashion. "Down with history / up with your head," Ebert sings. An interesting, if debatable, road map to "Better Days." ||| Stream: "Better Days" [...]
The guys of Market East clearly have a thing for the warmer months of the year. There was "Marielle," the rhapsody over cherry red lips and beach afternoons that opens their debut EP (check it out performed for Out of Town Films here ). There are the languid, easygoing arrangements and breezy Brian Wilson-style vocal harmonies that pepper their songs. And now their is Children of Summer , their new EP and a sonic step forward for the trio of Kurt Cain-Walther (vocals), Max Perla (vocals, drums) and Vincent John (vocals, guitar). The EP gets its [...]

Next month, multi-talented Brooklynite MeLo-X will release the follow-up to his GOD: LoFi EP from this past March. And the first we're hearing from it is "Mojitos and Little Dragon", a summer-ready jam produced by Potholes Music's own AbJo . As someone who is currently clawing at the walls in an attempt to make the weekend get here sooner, I can definitely vibe out to this on some vicarious living-type-shit. Here's hoping we hear more from these two in the coming weeks. You can stream/download the track below. GOD: HiFi [...]

From time to time there's a hidden gem to be found in the song submissions we receive on a daily basis. Today we had such a gem in our inbox. The Chainsmokers is a producer duo from New York City who recently made it their mission to create an upbeat summer remix for Say Lou Lou's song Julian . All I can say is mission accomplished! Turn up the volume and feel how you suddenly get the overwhelming urge to move your feet. Did I mention that the tune is available as a free download in exchange [...]

I'm definitely digging the groove on this lead single from Sydney, Australia-based The Preatures ' upcoming EP. The band lay out a tumbling, old-school soul vibe while vocalist Isabella Manfredi unfurls a sweet and sultry croon that reminds me a little of Feist at her most upbeat. It's incredibly addicting. Not only that, because they sport two vocalists with very different styles (Manfredi and co-vocalist Gideon Bensen), they can lay claim to a wide range of different vibes. For example, also check out the Bensen-led track "Take A Card" which appeared on their debut EP to get a sense of [...]
So now that the hysteria surrounding Daft Punk's new album has died down a bit we thought we'd share a couple of edits/remixes that have come our way which aren't completely terrible. First up you've London disco producer Ash Reynold who's taken 'Beyond' to the surgeons table for a great low-key French touch remix - it's well worth checking out. Boys Noize man Housemeister has also done re-edit of Giorgio By Moroder' - he's added some kicks and generally given the track a bit of club structure - you can grab a [...]

Francis Farewell Starlite aka Francis and the Lights hasn't released anything in two years making his new "ETC" that much more monumentally memorable. The self-produced "ETC" reminds us of all the reasons we love Francis in the first place - his distinct sultry vocals against poetic piano pop and R&B beats. And the way he coos "And will we be happy..." It's on that Frank Ocean/Sam Smith seduction scale. Please let this mean there is a new album coming. MP3: Francis and the Lights - "ETC" [...]

Brainfeeder rap duo the Underachievers have been riding high off the release of their fantastic debut mixtape, Indigoism . And seemingly out of nowhere, they have dropped a brand-new track, "May's Patience", with the message that "may's patience brings June releases." The ill-as-hell cut serves as the beginning of a stream of drops from Issa and Ak, including a video for "The Proclamation" and a new project, Chapter 23 . Chyeah. You can stream/download the track below. Download: The Underachievers - "May's Patience" [Sharebeast]

To call Daft Punk's Random Access Memories a mixed bag is to gravely underestimate its volatility and capricious whimsy, for it's about as up and down as a SoundCloud stream visualisation. Which is a reality that appears all the more perplexing when Horizon, a flighty bonus tacked onto the Japanese edition of the album, can be taken to contextualise the inconsistency of the record: perhaps lightly proggy, there's a Pink Floydian feel to its expansive guile as it sprawls like a Mediterranean skyline, only to eventually erupt in a majestic kind of melancholy. It's [...]

As rabble-rousers universally revered by self-proclaimed musicologists the world wide web over, it's kind of a big deal whenever Liars deign to do anything aurally digestible. That they chose to unleash this one in such impromptu fashion whilst all those supposed connoisseurs were congregated down beside the seaside for last week's The Great Escape could be deemed a subversive swipe at the quick-fire journalism which so tediously dominates all strands of new media, and in that same manner here we are extolling its indubitable virtues some six days after news of its immediate release first broke. Neither eventuality can [...]

It's THEM&US here to shout sweet everythings in your ear. If you're unfamil, THEM&US is the new music project of vocalist/front-girl Ami Carmine, and multivocalist/beatboxer Lee aka Killa Kela. The duo have been secretly calving away in the shadows over the past few months, forging new sounds in the deepest Berkshire countryside alongside producer James Rushent which they are now ready to unleash into the world! And if you're lucky enough to be in London on May 30th, you can catch them live as they'll be supporting Kelis at Proud Camden. Show info [...]

Not much is known about newcomers Still Parade . Their first single "Actors" is like a dose of xanax: softly picked guitars are mingled with lush vocals and echoed drums creating a hazy tune that will leave you feeling more relaxed than a pill ever could. This is the first song off an album that has been three years in the making and the careful care of the album is never more present than in "Actors." The mindful mixture of warm synths and carefully crafted luring strings stirs a rare moment of total solitude. Listen below [...]
