In the run-up to the release of their debut album Mondo , a new video for Electric Guest's "American Daydream", directed by Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island, surfaced a couple weeks back. The band starts their free Monday night residency at The Echo here in Los Angeles tonight, with Princeton side-project Sleeping Bags opening up the show. You can also check out my new interview with Electric Guest over at LA Weekly. We talked about the process of recording their album with producer Danger Mouse, how the internet has is changing the way music is [...]
Princess of downtown New York Lissy Trullie is back with a new single stream of "It's...

The Swedes are coming! The Swedes are coming! On March 27, your eardrums are in for a sweet surprise with the release of everyone's favorite Swedish trio Miike Snow 's new album, Happy to You . The guys just put out their latest single, "Black Tin Box", which features fellow Swede Lykke Li. As you probably can imagine from the title, the song is dark. Very dark. The drums are muffled, the vocals are haunted, the synths are pushed through a strange, otherworldly filter. You can certainly see this as the background music for [...]
The last time ATG covered Electric Guest , one of our loyal readers left us with a simple request: "More please?" Given that we're in the business of making our readers happy, we (and the Los Angeles duo ) have obliged. The band has just released a new video for their single "American Daydream," structured as a flashback in which frontman Asa Tacone takes on all comers in the name of fashion. Is it a party? Is it an attack? Is it Attack of the Party? Unclear, but the duo's immense talent is clearly on display. [...]

This Thursday, December 15, All Things Go is teaming up with Downtown Records for a special holiday showcase featuring Penguin Prison and Vacationer at Mercury Lounge in NYC. Penguin Prison, who recently signed with Downtown, is straight-up on fire right now and poised to take 2012 by storm. His video for "Don't Fuck With My Money" - shot in black and white at the New York occupy protests- is on regular rotation on MTV and definite contender for video of the year. As if that wasn't enough, we've also got Vacationer [...]

Photo by Collier Schorr Lissy Trullie - "Madeleine" A lullaby of a tune, swaddled in a soothing pool of shoegaze atmospherics, hiss, and white noise. It's dreamy and rather seductive with its wistful air and Trullie's rich, sultry voice. She exudes confidence, but also comes off as somewhat shy, which only builds intrigue. Quietly gorgeous, warm, and soulful. "Madeleine" is from Lissy Trullie's self-titled debut LP, out March 2012 via Downtown Records. The album was produced by [...]

Attending a concert can be a ritualistic experience on the same level as a religious rite. Personally, I was once so into hearing/seeing live music, I used to go to at least one concert a week. And when I'd go, I'd go full out. To this day I don't half-ass my concert going experiences. I like to arrive early so that I don't miss the opening band. I normally stand close to the front of the stage (sorry shorter people, but I need to be able to feel it too). And I do my part. I come ready for the [...]

Electric Guest came out of the CMJ Music Marathon as my big winners. I caught the band on two separate occasions - at the ATG official CMJ showcase and Neon Gold Records Popshop. The band really delivered on all counts. They were on most peoples must-see lists and with good reason. They've got a tight live show featuring smooth vocals coupled with R&B instrumentation. They are able to recreate the soulful songs they've got floating around the interwebz in an engaging manner. Rumor has it Danger Mouse [...]
Penguin Prison a/k/a Chris Glover and company have a new record hitting on Tuesday, October 18 via Downtown Records , and in preview of it, we bring you this sexed up jam (just like we like it from them) "In The Way", which you can stream in full below. It's fun and pretty great to dance to, which you can do for yourself at next week's CMJ Music Marathon here in New York City. Dates: Oct 17 New York, NY Rebel NYC (Conflict Of Interest party D.J. set) Oct 18 New [...]

Mp3 - Penguin Prison - Don't Fuck With My Money Fitting in nicely with the electro-pop theme we've had going this early October is Penguin Prison 's infectious "Don't Fuck With My Money." The band/producer will be releasing their debut October 18th on Downtown Records (Miike Snow, Gnarls Barkley, Major Lazer), so it will probably be a big one.

Tweet It's only been a year or so since The Drums released their debut self-titled album to much praise and now they're readying the release of its follow-up. A couple of months back they released a new song as part of a charity effort to help with the Tsunami relief effort in Japan after the earthquake and it followed in exactly the same vein as their debut album , and wouldn't you know it, the same can be said [...]

Whether it be an original pop tune or a dance floor friendly remix, Penguin Prison is absolutely always a safe bet for a solid crowd reaction. I must be warranted in saying that as he recently signed a deal with Downtown Records and hopes to have a full release this Fall. Until then, hang out with Shook's remix of "Multi-Millionaire". Penguin Prison is around: Friday, July 15th - Chicago, IL @ The Mid w/ Jessica 6 Thursday, July 21th - Washington, DC @ U Street Music Hall [...]
The Freshmen has signed a deal with Across The Universe/Downtown Records, one of the most successful independent labels in the industry. The deal puts The Freshmen in the company of artists like Gnarls Barkley, Justice, and Scissor Sisters, all of whom have a Downtown connection, and comes after a rush of buzz for the band, which included having one of the most added songs at college radio, significant commercial airplay, and great receptions on the live performance front. Expect to be hearing a lot more of the band's buzz-inducing single "Hello There," which has "summer [...]

We have always had a place in our hearts for Penguin Prison , yet another fantastic product coming through the Neon Gold machine. It makes us happy to know, after a few fits and starts, that the band has found a home on Downtown Records . They will be taken care of there, joining a laundry list of the indie-music elite; their highly anticipated self-titled debut record is due out this Fall. PP has not been lacking in the buzz department managing to stay on the scene without a full-length record simply by playing great live [...]

I'm a little late hyping White Denim's newest album but considering that D ( Downtown Records ) has not left my car deck for over two weeks now I figure it's worth mentioning. Everything I love is here; rocking rhythm section, heavy riffs, swirling guitars, and hooks that always seem to hit you in the right place. Simply put, D is an explosive, tightly constructed garage/psychedelic rock tour de force. These guys are guareenteed to knock you off your seat. Download a couple tracks off of D below and support Austin, TX group by purchasing their album [...]
Fourth time’s a charm? For White Denim it seems so.
