It seems like Jamie xx , aka one third of the xx, never stops working. If he's not performing solo , he's with his band on the road . And if he's not doing that, he's in the studio working on his own material, writing demos with the xx, or churning out production for some of his favorite artists. In this new interview with MTV Hive, Jamie speaks on what we can expect for his long-awaited solo debut along with whether or not he contributed to Drake's new album, Nothing Was The Same . [...]

The nominations for this year's curiously Lady Gaga -less MTV VMAs are out, and to our pleasant surprise, or perhaps chagrin, some of our favorite names came up a few times, including a Best New Artist nomination for Frank Ocean ("Swim Good") and a Video of the Year nomination for M.I.A. ("Bad Girls"). In the technical categories, you'll find the likes of Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky nominated for more serious things like Art Direction, Cinematography and Editing. Also worth [...]

"This has been our first week of shows for two years", says Oliver Sim as he glances over coyly at the packed Grand Hall of Battersea Arts Centre, "so you might have to bear with us." Since 2010, The xx have cemented themselves in the public consciousness as a force to be reckoned with. To say they’ve exploded would be an understatement, as performances at Coachella and Bonnaroo and a Mercury Prize win have demonstrated. But that was two years ago and since then, the musical landscape has shifted quite seismically. The group’s distinctive brand of dreamy R&B [...]

A few days ago, Drake told NME, "For me, the David Guetta stuff just doesn't work. I don't really wanna go there." We were glad to hear it. Even more exciting, though, are his nods to the undercurrent of more interesting electronic music. He's worked with Jamie xx and SBTRKT, and after explaining why Guetta isn't his first pick, he said the he'd rather work with exciting producers to "turn the club upside down." While he's name dropped a few of the biggest talents in the loosely defined scene, there's a whole host of other artists and sounds out [...]

In Things That Needed To Happen news... the prolific San Francisco mashup-crafter Wait What has brought the seamless talents you probably heard him exhibit on Notorious XX to Drake’s Take Care title track, blending it together with the song it samples and interpolates, Gil Scott Heron and Jamie XX’s collaborative “I’ll Take Care of You.” Wait What keeps Drake’s verses intact, replacing Rihanna’s hook section with Heron’s vocals. “Take [...]

I’m sort of surprised it took this long for this remix to pop up, but here we have Wait What mashing up Drake and Jamie XX with Gil Scott-Heron. One track is off of Drakes, Take Care , and the other off of We’re New Here from Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX. It’s pretty much the perfect blend of both songs. Enjoy.
