This year's Juno Awards take place in Ottawa on 4/1, and today the nominees for their annual prizes were revealed. A lot of familiar names - Drake, Feist, Avril Lavigne - headline the nominees. Something tells me the Black Keys won't be happy with a selection or two. Drake and Justin Bieber Drake pulled double-duty as nominee and host at the 2011 JUNO Awards, held last night (March 27) in Toronto. Along with introducing performers and presenters, Drake's job as host included entertaining the audience and viewers with pre-taped sketches throughout the night. Toronto native Drake hosted Canada's 2011 Juno Awards, but despite his six nominations, he was shut out from winning. He did, however, score with a fun opening skit that found him Skyping with his pal and fellow Canuck Justin Bieber (who picked up Pop Album Of The Year and Fan Choice statues). I'm not big on awards shows.  I usually find that they're self-congratulatory slaps-on-our-back  schmooze fests that don't speak for the common fan, but last night, the 2011 Juno Awards proved how wrong I can be.  If there's anything that can get me sentimental and weepy, it's a celebration of Canadian pride, and last night's 40th anniversary Junos delivered in spades.
