"This Siberian label has advertised itself with the kind of confidence one might expect from a Moscow project! Among its artists are some leading lights of modern Russian electronic music. The people at Electronica are also on good terms with practically all the important representatives of Moscow's club and techno scenes, too. They put out podcasts, releases, and manage all manner of events. The Electronica project is a wonderful example of how digital technology can bring together people who live in different time zones and, we must admit, very different cities."

We Were Promised Jetpacks have just released their second album In The Pit Of The Stomach (which we reviewed here ) and are now hot on the promotional trail for it. Their North American tour kicks off tonight in Harrisburg, PA and in conjunction with that they've premiered the video for "Human Error" on Stereogum , but you can watch it below. The guys are also giving away a free download of "Ink Slowly Dries"; a b-side from the In The Pit Of The Stomach sessions. So check that out below too, [...]

It takes some testicular fortitude to start up a record label in this day and age, however exactly one year ago Art Is Hard records announced their very first release - the now sold-out Brink Of The Clouds compilation. Over the past twelve months they have put out a further five releases, all of which are unique in their own way and all of which were ace. The fact that they're still going strong is testament to the hard work that David and Richard put in, so a round of applause to them. [...]

Photo courtesy of Seamus Murphy PJ Harvey is something of a musical chameleon; one moment she can be disguised as an experimental, indie rock queen, showcasing her talent as a manipulator of electronic sounds, and influences. Another moment, she can be an alternative rock goddess, backed by powerful guitars, and thumping drums. All of these different sides of PJ Harvey, are supported by a strong, blues-influenced backbone, allowing Harvey to howl, croon and sing over well-arranged pieces of music, dragging you into a world full of eclectic sounds. Having started in [...]
When Godflesh and Goatsnake announced a one-off gig in Kentish Town, no amount of partying at Download Festival would stop us witnessing some super heaviness.
Blaise, the guy who actually got it together to make this site happen in the first place, has a real problem with doing competitions on here. He thinks it's dumb or tacky or something. Lucky for yous guys, he's in France on holiday til tomorrow.
An installative performance by Dries Verhoeven a real cathartic experience, I have to say. I couldn't help crying.. It was called: You are here. We had to check in to a hotel and were guided into our single rooms, where the whole ceiling was a mirror and there was only a bed. We had to [...]

Style of Eye is no stranger around here, we've featured him many times before. He's one of the hottest rising producers in the dance music scene with a lot of flare to his name. You may have heard his Swedish House Mafia remix that dropped this week, or his store of remixes for big names like Steve Angello , The Subs , and Harvard Bass . But what sets Linus apart from these top contenders is that he's a steady hitter on every release. You could say this guy is a platypus, [...]

IMO the most important part of being a true metal fan is knowing your roots. There is nothing worse than a newjack poser who doesn't know or care about the older bands who paved the way for the generations after them. For example, IMO you can't consider yourself a real fan of Avenged Sevenfold without [...]
Slowly and surely Dry The River are becoming one of the most talked about bands of 2011. That tag doesn't offer much unless you have the songs to back it up with, however it's fair to say that DTR certainly do. Their music, which sits somewhere between Noah & The Whale and Broken Records , already seems destined to soundtrack every summer festival going. We therefore jumped at the chance to film a GoldFlakeSession with the band in the staff room of the Rise record shop in Bristol, after their instore [...]

New Jersey's Starland Ballroom hosted the legendary D.R.I. with NJ natives Mucky Pup, with opening acts Razorblade Handgrenade, Dirty Stayouts, & Dept. of Coreuption. It was throw-back Sunday with both young and old in attendance. Brick City's Razorblade Handgrenade was first up. This four piece hardcore band has that classic style that is reminiscent of hardcore forefathers Agnostic Front & other NYHC bands. They came straight to your face. Frontman Wes left the stage frequently to connect with the crowd by handing the mic over to those who knew the lyrics. They played killer jams like "Pretty [...]
In internet years, "Two Are One" is a pretty old song, released way back in 2007 by Adrianne Verhoeven—a former member of the now defunct Anniversary. Verhoeven, who records as Dri , seems to have been remarkably ahead of her time, sounding at times almost identical to artists-of-the-moment like Victoria Legrand of Beach House here, and, on various other tracks off her album Smoke Rings , like the washed out and sample-laden sound of "chillwave." The masterful video for "Two Are One" was directed by Neil Krug , a photographer of all things vintage, pulpy, and awesome. [...]
by Andrew Wilhelm (TX)Well, most of these shows are in Austin. One's in San Antonio, but you'll understand why I included it later.Friday brings together two disparate Finnish groups -- Finntroll and Rotten Sound -- at Emo's. Folk metal and grindcore are certainly odd bedfellows, so who knows what the vibe will be like? The next day, Pasadena Napalm Division and Birth A.D. will counteract the
Banner Designed by Cysquatch Welcome to "Question of the Week," a (sometimes) weekly debate amongst the MetalSucks staff regarding a recent hot button issue. Presumably inspired by this week's announcement of a Big 4 show in the U.S., this week's question was posed by MetalSucks contributor/author of the Reign in Blood entry into the 33 1/3 [...]
Tweet PJ Harvey's got a new record coming out. This makes me very truly happy as she just happens to be one of my favourite artists. Never compromising. Always inspiring. She is truly in a class of her own. While throughout her career dating back to her debut 1992's Dry , one would tend to notice that her sound tends to be a bit all over the place sonically, the one constant is that her rage and fury juxtaposed with her more tender poignant moments have made her one of the [...]
