17 year old Jack Elliot collapsed and passed away at a party after taking ecstasy and died of the biggest overdose of the drug yet officially recorded. The A-Level student stopped breathing at his schoolfriend's £500,000 house near Southampton and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The autopsy has revealed the teenagers ecstasy level was 10,420 milligrammes per litre of blood with friends estimating he ingested at least eleven pills on the night. We had some gentle fun at Wavves' expense yesterday, but even we have to admit that his new album,  Afraid of Heights , is a whole lot better than his earlier work, mainly because he's actually bothered to write songs this time around. Swedish quartet DANDAN release, 'Men Of Drugs and Oscar Wilde', the first single from their forthcoming SATAN EP today. While the title suggests the work of band far heavier, the group in fact specialise in generous helpings of near-perfect jangle-pop. Daniel Nilsson's voice floats over the top of trebley guitars, lo-fi drums and neat bass guitar to deliver three-and-a-half minutes that will no doubt continue this site's love affair with all things Scandinavian of present. His new tune - Elevate  - is out in March but in the meantime this mixtape of unreleased sounds. Bad Life describe him as making house records. This past Saturday, The Los Angeles Times published a sensationalist piece detailing the drug-related deaths of 14 people who attended dance music events. The Times reported that the deaths, which occurred during or shortly after concerts produced by Los Angeles-based Insomniac Events and Go Ventures since 2006, were the product of ecstasy overdose.
