On last year's Only In Dreams , all-girl vintage garage rockers Dum Dum Girls were dropping some of the best tracks of the year, namely "Coming Down" . On September 25th the band will release their new EP End Of Daze and they've given away the first cut from the EP, the slow-burning lament "Lord Knows" , something that would equal the tracks on last year's LP. Stream it below and [...]

Dum Dum Girls return with "Lord Knows", the first track to come from their upcoming End Of Daze EP, and it's another slow burning treat on the ears. continue reading >>

As if being conjoined twins doesn't pose enough of a challenge, physical transparency tends to further complicate matters. If you've ever found yourself thinking that the music world needs a new Chrissie Hynde, you're in luck: the Dum Dum Girls have arrived in full-on early Pretenders mode, and boy do they do it well. Lead singer Dee Dee (all of "the Girls" go by first names only - if they were to adopt the Ramones way of doing things, I suppose she'd be Dee Dee Dum Dum) is a dead ringer for Chrissie Hynde on [...]
Dum Dum Girls have put out a new video for Only In Dreams standout track, “Coming Down”. Dee Dee getting her fashion all hemmed down, is the only thing needed to make this slow burner special. Dum Dum Girls - “Coming Down” New tour dates for the band below: 03-28 Grenoble, France - Le Ciel 03-29 Firenze, Italy - Flog 03-30 Venice, Italy - Moon Club 03-31 Ravenna, Italy - Bronson [...]
Dum Dum Girls are an all-girl band who know how to play. They’re doing us ladies a favour if you ask me. Because they play well and they’re letting the world know that lo-fi chillwave isn’t only for the boys. Their new clip, ‘Coming Down’ from last year’s album, Only in Dreams plays homage to feminist performance artist, musician and wife to John Lennon, Yoko Ono. Lead singer Dee Dee has her clothes hacked away by strangers with scissors. This mirrors [...]

Watch the video for "Coming Down" , a stand-out track off Dum Dum Girls ' 2011 album "Only In Dreams" . Last year Dum Dum Girls released the very good "Only In Dreams" , their sophomore effort, via Sub Pop . "Coming Down" was a stand-out track from that record, a slow-burning ballad that showed the band successfully exploring some new directions in the best of ways. Now they have released a [...]

All female band from California, Dum Dum Girls were on the main stage last weekend for the holiday ticket to Peats Ridge Festival playing alongside many hometown favorites in this years event. Check out the idyllic weather as they performed early in the day in the Victorian sunshine and gum trees abounding! They recently released their sophomore album, Only In Dreams

ALBUMS OF 2011 #45 - #41 #45 Crystal Stilts - In Love With Oblivion - Shake The Shackles ( MP3 ) Brooklyn garage rock at its finest; ‘In Love With Oblivion’ comprises of crisp and courageous, and occasionally gallant post-punk from apparent veterans of the scene Crystal Stilts . The 2011 Slumberland release is afflicted with the dark and incommutable vocals, strange key changes and strikingly full melody. An instant classic of the era it evokes, summed up thematically in the black and white colouration of above album cover. [...]

Sometimes when you listen to music you don’t really listen . It can wash over you without taking on much of a meaning, which sometimes is all you need. I’d never really listened to this album until today. Oh sure I’d had it on repeat, along with first album ‘I Will Be’ and EP ‘He Gets Me High’ since I saw them live at ULU last week and was suitably blown away, but today was the first time I’d really heard it. The first time I really [...]
I love the fact that Dum Dum Girls get noisier and louder with each tour, and they’re super loud on Fallon. Here’s the quartet’s TV debut — bangin’ out one of 2011’s best singles.

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band, a show preview, or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we'll just round 'em all up for you. Most of these videos are of artists we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about the bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a trillion. Do it! Words by [...]
Emerging in 2009 with a lo-fi sound and a '60s aesthetic, Dum Dum Girls were a band like many others. Kohl-eyed and leather-clad with a fondness for fuzz tones, their debut album I Will Be sat snugly amongst releases by Best Coast and Vivian Girls. What set them apart from their contemporaries however, is the almighty voice of Kristen ‘Dee Dee’ Gundred. A singer of unmistakable power and soul, it’s here on second album Only In Dreams that she really shines. This is, in no small part due to [...]
Who runs the world? Yes, that’s right… girls, but more specifically, The Dum Dum Girls. The California quartet has returned with their sophomore album, “Only in Dreams,” a collection of up-tempo tracks typical of the West Coast, beach-happy characteristics possessed by many past and current bands of the pop genre. Yet, although some may say that it never rains in Southern California, the sunshine of “Only in Dreams” is overcast with clouds as the group delves into the emotional and dark topics of losing and longing for a loved one. Contrary to The Dum Dum Girls’ first [...]

Photo by Tyson Wirtzfeld A name derived from The Vaselines' album Dum Dum and Iggy Pop's "Dum Dum Boys," Dum Dum Girls will rock you with mind-numbingly good noise rock. Laced with poppy harmonies and fronted by the sensual Dee Dee, Dum Dum Girls is a great combination of Beach Boys peachiness and Ramones bravado. Dum Dum Girls have released two albums since their inception: Their latest release, Only in Dreams , was well-received and has continued to propel the group into the spotlight. [...]

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Last year, Dum Dum Girls released I Will Be , an album filled with noise pop riffs and all the girl power you could possibly pack into a single album. This album launched these girls into the fame of the indie-sphere, forever allowing them to be of buzz worthy status. On this sophomore album, they look to branch off a little from their power pop to a more dimensional sound, as to show their diversity. With so [...]

Dum Dum Girls - Only In Dreams By Judy Tate Only In Dreams , the second album from female four piece Dum Dum Girls does not adhere to the sometime equation of brilliant debut album = average, not as good second album. Having listened to both I Will Be the band’s debut record from 2010 and their recent release Only In Dreams, I felt I Will Be lacked excitement with only two standout tracks, in ‘Bhang Bhang, I’m A Burnout’ [...]
