New joint from Black El & Durkin.

Boston based producer Durkin cut this track last week reworking “Get Lit,” from A$AP Rocky. I am holding this track up similar standards of the Jim E Stack bootleg of “Purple Swag,” back in March. Tripping out the track and pumping in some new drum patterns and tweaking Rocky’s voice works well while still keeping the leaned our instrumental that gave the original its appeal. Durkin put his touch on A$AP's Get Lit.

Typically, we hear Durkin 's production talents beneath the fiery raps of Black EL . But he recently took a break to bang out something a lil' different in the studio. Durkin put together his own rework of A$AP Rocky's "Get Lit", which just so happens to be his favorite track off last year's LiveLoveA$AP . While I'm partial to "Bass" myself, I'm not about to disagree with Durkin. That's especially true given how funky and dance floor-ready this remix is. Download/stream it below.

With a song title like "Thelonious", the jam Black El and Durkin pumped out was far from what I could have ever expected. Pumping up the volume with heavy '80s hip-hop drum samples and Kenny Powers vocals, Black El destroys this beat with an onslaught of intense lyrical delivery. This appears to be a single that will stand on its own, but it sure does prove that these two are here to stay.

One of my favorite acts out of the Boston area is without question Black EL and Durkin. Sometimes, you'll stumble across a duo that's driven by either the rapper or producer, as one is clearly more skilled than the other. But not these guys. Black EL's delivery the type that grabs your ear with just the right amount of "LISTEN UP!" while Durkin complements his cohorts raps with beautifully produced boom-bap.
