off their most recent and 4th LP Eating Us , "The Sticky" throws down some serious grooves... of which are complimented by a vocal that's ironically both naff yet complacent. BMSR's eclectic instrumentation helps hold down some midwest psychedelic pop that keeps it real.. Black Moth Super Rainbow - "The Sticky" buyit myspace rating: 5.2

Black Moth Super Rainbow have just debuted the creepy and psychedelic new animated video for "Tooth Decay", taken from their current album Eating Us . I'm loving this track right now.

Its musical mystique is a refreshing departure from the norm

I was just thinking that I haven't seen enough music videos involving creepy, sketchy characters and sharp objects. This particular one comes from the anonymous psychtronica act Black Moth Super Rainbow. Their latest LP is Eating Us, if you haven't heard. Speaking of eating, if this video was going to take the "grindhouse" approach, it could have used a bit of cannibalism. Next time, guys. The vid
Black Moth Super Rainbow [MySpace] recently dropped an incredible album, Eating Us, in May and we're posting the grindhouse/horror homage "Born On A Day The Sun Didn't Rise"... [[This is an excerpt. The pages look just silly here, you know? Why not just hit up the article, homes? We'd appreciate that!]]

MP3: Black Moth Super Rainbow - Gold Splatter A band like Black Moth Super Rainbow could easily make the same songs and records over and over again and still be great, but luckily they released "Eating Us", a complete progression to the trademark BMSR sound. The song that I can't get out of my head or stop listening to is "Gold Splatter": it stops time and fills the space with beautiful music. So far, it's made every day better during the minutes it consumes. No need for helmets as the [...]
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Twin of Myself "Deep in the woods of western Pennsylvania vocoders hum amongst the flowers and synths bubble under the leaf-strewn ground while flutes whistle in the wind and beats bounce to the soft drizzle of a warm acid rain. As the sun peeks out from between the clouds, the organic aural concoction of Black Moth Super Rainbow starts to glisten above the trees." That was the description found inside the liner of BMSR's third album, Dandelion Gum , but the imagery is possibly even more apt for [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow has an electroacoustic meld that is not of this world. It's a simple, but impressive mix of cold Kraftwerk calculations pressed up against the freewheeling notions of psychedelia in an act of forbidden love. Eating Us is a colorful and warm addition to the BMSR repertoire, but it's an album plagued by the past of its creators. Even though there are noticeable tweaks here and there, nothing really ventures outside the color scheme of Black Moth's super rainbow. Eating Us lays the knowledge down, but a lot of this [...]

Eating Us is out today. Go grip that shit! I wanted to go on and share my review originally written for LEO Weekly and was recently nixed and reworked for a bigger, more awesome full-page feature we're doing coming in the next couple of weeks: Black Moth Super Rainbow performs a difficult feat with Eating Us . The group is able to maintain the distinct, calculated sound that makes them easily recognizable while branching out to create a remarkably different album. The massive arsenal of antique analog equipment that defined BMSR's first three albums [...]

The last time I was at the Red Mile Barn in Lexington, Kentucky was for the Elephant 6 show with Jeff Mangum . While that show is almost impossible to top, I had an amazing time at the Black Moth Super Rainbow show there on Tuesday night. I can't tell you how many people have recommended this band to me over the past year, so I had to check them out, especially considering their new album, Eating Us , drops this month. Their sound is a soupy blend of electronic beats, synthed [...]

BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW Eating Us Label: Graveface Records (Release Date: 05/26/09) Pittsburgh's psych-electro experimental synth-pop group Black Mouth Super Rainbow are about to release their latest project, titled Eating Us on May 26, 2009. The members of this elusive quintet include [...]

Reviewing a Black Moth Super Rainbow record is ultimately kind of a ridiculous proposition. After all, this is a band that essentially puts out the same record over and over, release after release ( Pitchfork , in fact, leveled this very criticism at the band in a recent review). In the hands of many bands, this would most definitely be a bad thing...but criticisms like that just don't work here. So, the news is: this is more of the same. And I, for one, certainly couldn't be happier. [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow is coming to Lexington's Red Mile Barn tomorrow, 5/19, for what is likely to be an amazing show. BMSR serves up a soupy blend of electronic-pop-folk-rock that just keeps you captivated. The band has a new album coming out May 26th called Eating Us and, from what I've heard, it is going to be a crowd pleaser ( even Kanye digs it ). I'm guessing we will get to hear some of the new album tomorrow, which only makes it that much more exciting. Lexington's Tiny Fights and [...]
A Review Of A Record - Sort Of We got the digital preview of Eating Us last week and it's a, "record of fuzzy bliss." (Prefix) The band is sort of an even more abstract Animal Collective but this album...

Now, I've never taken acid before, but I could imagine that Eating Us, the latest album by Black Moth Super Rainbow, would serve an audible sampling of the psychedelic drug's effects. Psychedelic is the exact word to describe the aural blend of electronic funk. Every instrument brought together to forge their standout music collaborates to [...]
