Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros have a built a rabid following over the past three years, on the back of their debut release Up From Below . With hits like " Home " and " Janglin ," they were soon finding their way into mainstream TV shows and commercials and on the lips of even least in-tune. This past year, the band released their follow-up, Here - a slightly more subdued record. When they visited the Do317.com [...]

One of the nifty little vinyl releases that sneaked onto the shelves on Record Store Day was a split 7-inch featuring a previously unreleased song from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes , "Give Me a Sign," and "Raven's Song," a tune off Aaron Embry's breathtaking album "Tiny Prayers." We missed it a couple months ago, but both songs were on the Community Music Sampler released free via Alex Ebert's indie label. Also on the compilation: Cornelius, Soko, Alexander's collab with The RZA on "Truth" and a song from Christian Letts of the Magnetic Zeroes and Rocco [...]
No matter how "zany" they come off; though the general public may be threatened by their "cult-like" appearance; as music fans we must realize it's OK! Because Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros sophomore release is not to be overlooked. Steadfast in their vision, the album, Here, comes fully realized: no weak spots, just earthy [...]

This beautiful video was made by Sharpe fans in Poland and showcases some stunning footage of the city where this website started. Awesome.
One of the prettiest moments on the second Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros album "Here" is the song "Child," written and performed by guitarist Christian Letts. Through the website Genero.tv , the band ran a contest for fan-made videos. A director named Michał Byra earned the $5,000 top prize for this clip, one of 78 entries . "This video absolutely blew us away," the band wrote on its Facebook page. "We don't know much about the filmmaker other then they are from Poland. A really beautiful tale and extremely well executed."Agreed.

“ Come dance with me...” When you're Alex Ebert , it only takes a simple four word invitation to send an entire audience into a mild frenzy. Arlene Schnitzer Hall, a Portland venue known for sit-down shows and regular visits from the symphony, was temporarily ground zero on Tuesday for the circus-like atmosphere and intoxicating merriment of California band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros . The group's approach is non-conventional. A wildly energized prophet of a singer at the helm of a 12 member psychedelic folk troupe attracts a [...]

The magical quality of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is that the SoCal folk pop band always seems to be making it up as it goes along. Whether it’s the setlist – frontman Alex Ebert always seems to be asking a band member what should be played next – to his between-song banter, to the created-on-the-spot soloing of individual musicians including the local violinist stand-ins. All were on display Friday night at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Ebert, vocalist-guitarist Jade Castrinos and their large crew were in midseason form, as was [...]
Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive Laure Vincent-Bouleau Halfway through Spinner's conversation with Alex Ebert, frontman of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros , the topic turns from the band's back-to-back 2012 albums -- their sophomore album Here was released in May and its as-yet-untitled follow-up drops late this year -- to music's healing powers. "It's more about certain tones," Ebert says, explaining something he picked up from the [...]

The tour will wrap up on October 5, 2012 at Crossroads in Kansas City, MO. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will support for most dates. Anyone up for a cult sing-along? Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros really know how to reel in a fan base, and probably a peace rally. A few years ago, we were all koombayah-ing along to the wildly successful and immensely sentimental tune Home off their debut album Up From Below . Who could resist? A frontman with untamed locks and a bare chest peeking out of a white blazer. A frontwoman with precocious dimples and a vintage style to match. The two are part of incredible force on stage that some call a band [...]

I'm not sure what it is about this group of songs...all I know is that I have been listening to them non-stop this week. Maybe they will strike a similar chord with you. Some new, some old..all gold. 1. Ben Howard - Old Pine (Peking Duk remix) [...]

Ever since taking a week off for Bonnaroo , I've been playing catch-up on music videos, so I'm a little late to this absolutely brilliant video, skillfully helmed by young actor-turned-director Brady Corbet . The juxtaposition between the scenes of various urban dance leagues and the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes ' whimsical folk music makes for a cathartic, very poignant video. The final dance sequence by the New York City Ballet in an abandoned alley-way is breathtaking.
