Perhaps the most infectious thing about the music of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros is the attitude behind it. Anyone who's seen them live or given a good listen to 20102s Up From Below or Here, which was just released this past Tuesday, can feel that the nine lovely individuals who make up the [...]

The new video for Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' "Man On Fire" reminds me quite a bit of a Wes Anderson film with welcome non-descript subtitles and a slight lo-fi effect. The video features dacing crews from all over New York culminating with the amazing New York Ballet dancing in an alley between two industrial buildings. Here is out now on Vagrant/Rough Trade Records
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros - Man On Fire It would not be foolish to think that a breakout band, with a breakout song that took the world by storm, would have a hard time following up on the success that followed. It would be foolish however to think that of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The new album “Here” finds the lead singer Alex Ebert and his merry band of musicians in fine, folk rock form, wearing the past 2 years of extraordinary success like a badge of honor. The album [...]
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros released the music video for Man on Fire today. It captures the movement of dance in its many forms from double dutch to cheerleading to the concluding New York City ballet. It's definitely something I've watched a couple times and played even more than that. And just like the song ends, I want the whole damn world, to come dance with me

About a year ago, I was in the car with when I was introduced to the 11-piece sounds of "Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes" through a song that has truly taken off, this song being the group's hit, "Home" . After that day I was addicted to the band's unique sound through their previous album titled "Up From Below" . One of the things I fancied about L.A. based, "Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes" is [...]

Anyway, their new album Here is out today. You can give it a full listen on NPR here: Listen to the full album here . They also just launched this website which looks fun... I will have to play with it later.

It's a shame this album comes out today. Why, might you ask? Because it is the perfect album for a Memorial Day Barbecue. Thankfully, NPR music was streaming the record all last week. I was able to blast it over the garden speakers while grilling some burgers and brats. ESMZ have crafted a perfect Americana record. And I don't mean Americana like folk-rock or alt.country. I mean Americana like apple pie and fireworks on the fourth of July. The records sounds like America. There are hints of dixieland jazz, gospel, rock [...]

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Here out on 5.29 Stream | MP3 | CD | Vinyl B While “Home,” “40 Day Dream” and “Janglin” are the joyous, bubbly, go-to favorites from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes’ debut album, there is one song that rose above those anthems to stick with me on a deeper level. While it didn’t have the same peaks and valleys, and the chorus wasn’t nearly as catchy, [...]
