Veronica Falls is a young band. There is the group taking pictures of itself! Oh you do not want to miss those first steps. All those loose meandering's on a guitar, bright harmony's recorded! The world could take notice one day, these paintings will be priceless! These infant moments of fledgling bands feel incredible to all the members involved. Pity that I am not the bass player! If I was a contributor, maybe I could share in the hidden magic! I have no such luck, it seems neither do you. Harsh words I know. I do have some very [...]

Sunday was a day of rediscovery for me. It had been years since I listened to Doolittle , the 1989 breakthrough album by Pixies, in its entirety. So many that I'd nearly forgotten what a fantastic album it is. Then yesterday, on the way home from my morning run, my iPod shuffle landed on "Debaser," the opening track, and it all came flooding back to me. What was it about Doolittle that made it such a perfect album, so much so that when I started to listen to it for the first time in [...]

Words by Kelsey Crushes on musicians are inevitable. Whenever talented, passionate people, get up on stage and do something they are good at, you can't help but swoon. And while I've dated my fair share of bros with guitars, female musicians are just as swoon-worthy. Below is a list (in no particular order) of some of the chicks in music I adore, occasionally try to emulate, and would really just like to hang out with (Besides Kelly and Dani from Big Hurry of course). [...]
Jake Ryan had a HD disk crash this week, Tyler's computer was out for repair. It returned on Monday, the same day he had to have his car towed to a shop. All of this results in a REPEAT! YEAH! WOO-HOO. (Oh, you're so lucky. What have you done to deserve such gifts?) Jake Ryan joins us via phone from Shermer, Illinois. PLAYLIST: Airiel – Airtight Angels The Drums – Me and the Moon The Clientele – I Wonder Who We Are Eggstone – If You Say [...]
Yuck, who hails from London, played two nights in a row this week at The Independent in San Francisco. They remind me of several 90s bands, many from Boston, and I wouldn't be surprised if they've never heard of any of them. The Blake Babies (with Juliana Hatfield), Fuzzy and a non Boston band, Elastica. Here is a track by Yuck called "Get Away". In the mid-90s I caught this band called Fuzzy locally. It has a similar vibe and the guitars sound very similar. Listen to [...]
ASBO KID, self-proclaimed dealers in 'Car Alarm Techno', are on a mission to convert the populace to their love of big, danceable noise.ASBO KID formed after a chance meeting of two British music luminaries which unearthed a mutual love of huffing petrol, shouting, old school rave, more shouting and minimal techno.ASBO KID is made up of James Atkin, former lead singer for EMF, who made the
For fans of britpop, catchy tunes of high likability, solid musicianship, and thoughtful lyrical content, The Hours know what time it is.

While they were never quite as good as they were touted to be (not to mention the claims for plagarism by members of Wire and the Stranglers that say them in and out of court) and the presence of a broody love spat between Blur and Suede's lead singer over the affection of lead singer Justine Frischmann Elastica helped the cause Elastica certainly deserve their place in the annals of rock history. Despite a second release in 2000 it was their self-titled debut in the mid nineties that they'll be remembered for, namely an album that contained a succession of [...]

I 've still got two and a half weeks left to enjoy Buenos Aires, but already I'm getting a little misty, thinking about what I'll have to give up while I'm off having new adventures and making new memories in Melbourne. I've been pretty tough on BA over the years, but I was the same way with New York. When it comes to cities, I always slam the ones I love -- eventually. But there's a reason why I stuck around as long as I did. Well, actually, five of them.

![[Listen] – #MusicMonday – 20 Songs Of The Week – August 30th](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2786938_lg.jpg)
If you're unaware of what Music Monday is, it's a Twitter recommendation system where users of Twitter share their favourite music, artists, genres, etc in order to not only find new music themselves but help others find new music too. Using the hashtag (#) followed by "MusicMonday" you can easily find new music posted by the thousands of people making recommendations each week. Every #MusicMonday I upload a playlist of 20 songs that I've been listening to (new and old) over the past week [...]

Noel Gallagher had turned up at his local polling station to find that he was required to produce one more item of identification than he was carrying. 'Do you want me to sing you a fucking song?' he protested, before celebrity eventually got the better of bureaucracy. That night, though the South Bank beckoned, he remained on the sofa. 'I had a ticket for the Labour Party party, but I had that much fun watching Portillo and the others get done over I stayed at home in front of the TV. It was all champagne and cigars round our house. [...]

"This is for Brodie!" –Jay, just prior to punching the mall's Easter Bunny When I was 13-years-old, there was no band I liked more than Weezer. If you knew me at the time, this obsession made total sense... I was a huge dork who loved melodic indie rock and connected to anything remotely heartfelt. At the time, the band had made its triumphant return to the music scene, having just released Weezer (Green), which unleashed the crunchy, palm muted chords of "Hash Pipe" to own radio stations everywhere. Obsession aside, my love for Weezer led to one [...]
Okay, so this one is a massively late Friday Fives, but there's enough of a day to waste if you still feel like wasting it with me. On this week's podcast we will be kicking off with Thee Single Spy's new single OK Corral, and Alice kindly sent me the video through for it this morning so I figured I would share it with you on this week's Five. The five songs I have chosen today are from a compilation named Arlington Baths, so called because I used to live in a basement flat on Arlington Street in [...]

As Kula Shaker's first album in three years, Pilgrims Progress shows the band at their very best since releasing their 1996 debut. On paper, the template for album number four is much the same as their previous three efforts. But where Pilgrims Progress really shines is in its rare ability to present the sounds of another era in a setting that feels mature, fresh, current and progressive.
