Ellie Goulding; Friends Electric video & Alan Braxe reMix!

Ellie Goulding; Friends Electric video & Alan Braxe reMix! Friends Electric ’s awesome, and brave, reMix of Ellie Goulding ’s ‘The Writer’ has only gone and got itself it’s very own official video! Nice one lads! OK, on to Alan Braxe ’s gobsmackingly rad reMix, it’s got this fluttering little melody that you listen to and never want to end. It’s pure summery chilled goodness, like an ace dream, or the end credits tune in a move where it turned out everything was alright in the end and everyone [...]

Ninthwave Records celebrates 10th anniversary; releases Synthetic Dance Music Vol. 02

The mid-90’s were dark, dark, times for SynthPop fans. All that existed was this thing (amusingly) called ‘Modern SynthPop’, a stale, stagnant regurgitation machine that sounded like vocal trance by people who with little clue about vocals or trance. General MIDI 4/4 beats and badly produced, unimaginative (read: four layered arpeggios) music met Dave Gahan karaoke vocals. It was all so contrived, so formulaic, so boring and so not relevant. For these reasons it remained the smallest of music scenes, but for a time, it was all we had. There was, however, one beacon in the darkness. A [...]

Logo’s new single on Kitsuné

001
The end of August sees Kitsuné Music latest release, Logo ’s latest single, the double A-side ‘La Vie Moderne’/’Juniocide’. ‘Junocide’ is a mindblowingly awesome inner-city soundtrack. If rain fizzing off of flickering neon lights made music, it would sound like this. Sophisticated percussion programming and relentless arpeggios drive the track but the song is surprisingly melancholic. This is music to get lost to. ♫ Logo – Junocide Kitsuné drop Logo’s ‘La [...]

Clubfeet

001
Clubfeet , they of the monster ‘Teenage Suicide (Don’t do It)’, have just dropped their new album ‘Gold On Gold’. The Melbourne trio have a sweet 80’s pop sound, as displayed on their lead single from the album, ‘Count Your Lovers’, a laidback, piano driven, almost ballad. This is the kind of tune that you can chuck on the headphones, close your eyes, and forget about your troubles. ‘Edge Of Extremes’ has more of a Disco feel and a certain edge of Hot Chip about it. The album will defiantly be worth checking out. [...]

‘Røyksopp’s Adventures In Barbieland’

Røyksopp ’s short film, ‘Røyksopp’s Adventures In Barbieland’, created to accompany their new instrumental album ‘Senior’ (the follow up/sister album to last years ‘Junior’) is now available to watch in it’s entirety. Here is what Røyksopp’s Svein had to say about it: “We had a vision, and in this vision we saw ourselves as a sleeping hobo and an old man respectively. The following is a vivid depiction of some of the events that occurred during an intended stay in Barbieland. And remember,  It’s a true story…." It’s odd, Røyksopp odd, and features 5 tracks from [...]

Chromeo + Aeroplane

001
Check out this reMix of Chromeo ’s hot first single from their forthcoming album, ‘Business Casual’ by Belgium's almighty Aeroplane . Great things can always be expected from Aeroplane, and given the source material this should be intensely good. And it is! Who knows how you increase the Funk on Chromeo? Vito Aeroplane has managed it with this take on ‘Don’t Turn The Lights On’. With the Disco turned up to 11, it’s almost like distilled Chromeo! [...]

Dolby Anol reMixes Performance

001
Dolby Anol have given their reMix treatment to Manchester’s finest Indie-ElectroPoppers Performance ’s latest single, ‘Unconsoled’. Slightly more ElectroPoppy than we’re used to from Dolby Anol, which, it turns out, is a pretty rad thing! A deep, analog SynthPop reMix is what we get here with some really subtly vocoding that gives, what was originally quite an emotive track, a roboticised feel. It’s a cool reMix, gotta' love that computer funk! ♫ Performance - Unconsoled (Dolby [...]

Yannick Aellen – ElectroPop crooner

001
Don’t really know who Yannick Aellen is, perhaps I should, he seems to be some kind of man-about-town (or his press release claims, anyway), but his doesn’t mean he can make good music. Luckily, he can. Rocking some serious old school SynthPop stylings that would feel right at home in New York’s Minimal Synth movement ‘The Devil (Is A Woman I Never Slept With)’ is all heavy monosynth bass and stripped down drums with a raw, early Mute Records, feel to it. But it’s Yannick’s vocals that set him apart, he’s a self proclaimed crooner, which [...]

Anoraak’s first single from ‘Wherever The Sun Sets’

001
The first single from French ElectroPop/Dreamwave pioneer Anoraak ’s forthcoming album ‘Wherever The Sun Sets’ will be ‘Try Me’. One of our most anticipated albums in the coming months, Anoraak’s début will be out at the end of this month with the single a couple of weeks ahead and if this track is any indication of what to expect from the album we are in for a treat. Upbeat and energetic, Anoraak has separated himself from much of the Dreamwave pack by incorporating swathes of New Wave guitar accompanying the trademark retro synth sounds and a damn [...]

The Electroscopes

001
The Electroscopes are, or is, a one man act (backed up by a live drummer) from Northampton. A relative newcomer to the game, having kicked off The Electroscopes last year, main-man Paul has already had BBC Radio airplay and was featured as their ‘uploader track of the week’, back in September 2009, with this track ‘Harder Each Day’ which Paul is gearing up to release as a single. It’s a pretty deep sounding slice of ElectroPop styled Electronica. Vocally and lyrically it can stand alongside this years hippest Bedroom Pop producers, such as Penguin Prison [...]

New Lo-Fi-Fnk single, ‘Sleepless’

There’s a new 7” on the way from Swedish Electro heroes Lo-Fi-Fnk . ‘Sleepless’ is out next month and defiantly increases the anticipation for their forthcoming full length second album. It’s a chilled, hypnotic ElectroPop groove that sounds something like the sound in your mind when inflicted with the tracks inspiration. With all the horn and piano stable it’s like being an insomniac in the 90’s! Awesome! ♫ Lo-Fi-Fnk – Sleepless ‘Sleepless’ is released in September on Moshi Moshi. Lo-Fi-Fnk @ Beatport [...]

iamamiwhoami’s ‘y’

iamamiwhoami’s ‘y’ iamamiwhoami (i.e. defiantly Jonna Lee now) have mostly stopped being mysterious, except with their releases (a succession of one track singles). It’s probably time for a proper release. It would be welcome to, their latest track ‘y’ and it’s accompanying video are both things of beauty, like a head on collision between The Knife and Kate Bush. ‘y’ is out…y’know, whenever…some other tracks are out there though, all with single letter titles. iamamiwhoami @ Amazon

Silver Columns; Always On

001
‘Always On’ is the next single from Scottish ElectroPop experimentalists Silver Columns . The track, that successfully walks the line between Avant Garde and Bedroom Pop, also gets a whopping nine minute reMix from Caribou , who take the listener on a synthesizer journey through deep analog basses and bleeps and blips making Silver Columns suddenly sound very Hot Chip. ♫ Silver Columns - Always On (Caribou reMix) [...]

‘Smoke & Mirrors’ video from Ali Love

‘Smoke & Mirrors’ video from Ali Love Ali Love ’s awesome single ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ was released last week and, thankfully, it’s now got itself a video. The ElectroPop goodness is now accompanied by visuals the feature not only smoke…but mirrors too! the whole thing looks pretty slick though, and works well with the track. ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ is out now, Ali’s forthcoming album, ‘Love Harder’ should be dropping in August. MEN’s ‘Credit Card Babie$’ video

MEN’s ‘Credit Card Babie$’ video This is the video for New York Indie-Disco act MEN ’s début UK single ‘Credit Card Babie$’. Starting out with a core duo of Le Tigre members JD Samson and Johanna Fatema, MEN has expanded into a full on band and art/performance collective. The video for their insanely catchy Indie-Electro-Pop début was directed by Matt Wolf. ‘Credit Card Babie$’ is released 6th September. MEN @ Beatport

Starsmith reMixes Robyn’s ‘Hang With Me’

Robyn = Awesome. Starsmith = Awesome. Robyn + Starsmith = Awesomer! ‘Hang With Me’ is the first single from Robyn’s ‘Body Talk Part 2’, we dropped the video last week. It’s a cute SynthPop ballad that is a good sign for the forthcoming album. That ElectroPop producer extraordinaire Starsmith is providing one of the single’s reMixes is just too good to be true! And the track lives up to expectations. Pure uplifting electronic Pop goodness that makes expectations run high not just for Robyn’s second ‘Body Talk’ album but [...]

The Vanish return with ‘Heartbeat’

001
Things have been quiet from The Vanish camp since the release of their last single, ‘Hold On’ but this week sees the release of ‘Heartbeat’, the second track from their demo EP to be given the single treatment. The Indie-Disco-Pop ‘Heartbeat’ was my favourite track on the original demo EP, making top ten in electronic rumors’ top 20 songs of 2009 , so the single, and it’s stellar reMix line up is most welcome here. Speaking of ‘stelar’, Australians Get Stellar and Beaumont both provide mixes for the package. [...]

VillaNah reMix the new OMD single!

We previewed September’s new Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark single ‘If You Want To’ a while back and found it an ace return to classic and bombastic OMD. The single, taken from ‘the History Of Modern’ OMD’s first studio album on 14 years, will also feature a reMix from Finnish SynthPop heroes and sometime OMD support act VillaNah who layer the track with their own brand of retro electronics. Amazingly, VillaNah have managed to make the song sound more retro than OMD themselves, that’s quite an achievement! P.S. Synth brass [...]

LexiconDon checks out the ‘Student Body’

001
Hey, did we mention we’re particularly exited about LexiconDon ’s forthcoming début album? No? We’d better mention it then! Here at electronic rumors we’re particularly excited about LexiconDon’s forthcoming début album! And to keep that excitement going Binary have dropped the second preview track from ‘Pink + Blue’, released later this month. ‘Student Body’, like ‘December Sunset’ the previous track, is smoother and more mature (musically) than we had previously been used to, which bodes well for the album. This track is just pure catchy [...]
