Festival season in New York prominently kicked off over the weekend with Electric Daisy Carnival NY , a small contingent of Insomniac 's international festival family. The second Big Apple edition of Electric Daisy Carnival NY kicked off yesterday without a hitch (though Nervo, one of the biggest acts on the bill had to cancel their appearance at the last minute). Amid blue skies and sunshine, 40,000 or so revelers descended upon Citi Field in Queens, NY, to enjoy a day's worth of top DJs and fun including theatrical performers, art installations, carnival rides, state-of-the-art sound and lighting production. Last year Electric Daisy Carnival New York took over Met Life stadium for 3 days in Secaucus, NJ allowing patrons to dance on the same field that the NY Giants and NY Jets play. Insomniac just announced an open casting to star in the next EDC 2013 movie. After the success of EDC 2012 which was filmed during the 2011 edition, plans are in place to film the 2013 edition in Vegas. Filming is set for EDC Las Vegas during June 21st-23rd. Pasquale Rotella (pictured, left), creator of Electric Daisy Carnival and father to fiance Holly Madison's (pictured, right) newborn daughter, appeared in court on Monday facing over thirty years in prison for bribery, embezzlement, conspiracy, and conflict of interest. As Radar Online reports , the Insomniac CEO appeared in a pretrial conference on Monday for a case filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney which alleges that the event promoter bribed city officials with $2.5 million in funds from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Insomniac has partnered with L.A.-based hospitality company SBE to launch Create Nightclub in Hollywood. The opening night will take on May 11 and will feature Dutch trance star Dash Berlin. While Create's Facebook page only features the club's logo and no images of the club, the venue located in the former Vanguard space is promising state-of-the-art technology with a heavy emphasis on bottle service and big-name DJs. Earlier today Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas announced its 2013 lineup. Among those names was Kaskade who, after seeing the official lineup, was shocked to see his name listed. Allegedly a clerical error listed Kaskade as performing at this year's festival but the DJ quickly took to Twitter to dispel the claims.
