The festival season is more or less done and dusted for another year. We had it all at Electric Picnic this year some sunshine, some rain and some biting cold but, most importantly we had lots of great music. Here is my brief as possible round-up of the musical antics down in Stradbally. There's a [...]
Santigold Three years ago Santi White played a stunning set in the Cosby tent at EP. We haven’t had much new material from her since but that hasn’t lessened the impact of her live show. The songs from her self-titled debut such as ‘L.E.S. Artistes’ and ‘Say Aha’ have matured into near-classics by now. Easily translated to the larger tent of the Electric Arena, Santigold is an even more commanding performer than before. We also get a sneak peek at new material with a new song that sounds very similar to Drake’s new single ‘Headlines’ [...]
Sinead O'Connor What a funny old world we live in. When O'Connor was booked for this year's Electric Picnic, it seemed a sensible - if unspectacular - move. The festival has a history of presenting artists at all stage of their career, and the time is probably right for some kind of reappraisal of herr catalogue. Since then, of course, there have been certain developments that have taken Friday's performance to whole new level. Really, the sexual storm in a tea cup is just another example of her pushing Ireland's buttons but now, instead of shocking [...]

State's detailed rundown of the Electric Picnic starts today, but in the meantime here's a flavour of the first day's action as captured by Damien McGlynn. [...]
Watch an Electric Picnic Minute, the entire weekend's events rounded up in 60 seconds.
Arcade Fire were one of the biggest draws at Electric Picnic 2011, playing just before Chemical Brothers on the Main Stage on Saturday night.
Everything Everything played the Electric Arena at EP in Stradbally on Sunday.
Opening night headliners at Electric Picnic 2011.
Scandinavian popstrel Oh Land played the Electric Arena at Electric Picnic on Sunday afternoon.

Both The Go! Team & Star Slinger are playing Electric Picnic this weekend, and this track by the two of them is bound to kick off your weekend right. Apollo Throwdow (Star Slinger Remix) , enjoy. The Go! Team Apollo Throwdown (Star Slinger Remix) by Star Slinger
The Sunday line-up has a nice balance of chilled out acts and some bands to keep your energy levels up. Pulp play the main stage as the retro headline act, Zola Jesus is a good alternative tho, on the Cosby Stage at the same time. As usual there is plenty to see, so here's our picks: Oh Land - Electric Arena @ 2.30pm There's something in the water in Scandinavia, producing a steady stream of talented female acts. Oh Land is a perfect example of this, [...]
Electric Picnic returns to Stradbally this weekend and as always there is a nice balance right between international and homegrown acts. After doing an overall preview I decided to put together a wee mix as a snap shot of some of the Irish acts playing this year. You can download the mix and listen to [...]
With a line up as healthy as this year's Electric Picnic, trying to make an itinerary can be a bit dizzying. In an effort to help, though this may only add to your indecision, we've asked our writers for their picks of the Picnic. Friday Funeral Suits - Electric Arena: Friday, 3.45pm 'Colour Fade' is one of the best songs of 2011, an atmospheric indie-pop number with echoey vocals that give it a mini-gang-chorus effect, making it immediately familiar and sing-along - seeing it live is enough reason to down cans and kick off [...]
No doubt you have all been busy with highlighters at the ready, making your own lists of acts to see at Electric Picnic this weekend. The line-up is pretty amazing and they have got a nice balance between international and homegrown acts. Here is a brief run through a few of the acts I'm hoping to see. [...]
Saturday's line-up is pretty killer. The main stage seems to have it locked down, if you don't fancy moving around between stages the last four acts of the day on the main stage are gold (James Blake, Lykke Li, Arcade Fire & The Chemical Brothers), that said there's still lots more to see, here's our picks: Nightbox - Cosby Stage @ 12.15pm Nightbox are an Irish band currently based out of Toronto, who are performing their debut irish shows over the next few weeks. We [...]
Ah, Friday - the first day of the festival. You either go all out on the first night and somehow survive on adreline for the next 3 days, or take it easy and get into the full festival spirit on the saturday. Either way there's plenty on the line-up to keep you occupied. Here's our must see's: Star Slinger - Little Big Tent @ 6.15pm Fixers - Swimmhaus Johannesburg (Star Slinger Remix) by Star Slinger [...]

This is my second year in a row missing Electric Picnic , it doesn't get any easier! It's by far my favorite irish music festival, ah the memories . With only a couple more days remaining, the stage times have finally been released, so time to get planning. You can view a larger pdf download of the time-table here . There's been a couple of cancellations since the full time table has been announced, missing from the bill are: Factory Floor, Niki & The Dove, Killing Joke, and The Vaccines. The line-up is still [...]

Last year's Electric Picnic 2010 mixtape went down so well, when it came time to do one for 20112s Electric Picnic I couldn't whittle the tracks down to one mixtape. So I decided to do two - Day and Nite . Mixtape 1 - Day represents the guitar angle, the folk musicians, the indie, the rock and everything in between. Mixtape 2 - Nite represents the more electronic side of the festival, the beats, the repetition and the remixes. An abridged downloadable version containing OK to download [...]
I am not a big fan of Pulp but I was sat in front of my TV on Saturday night at 10pm cos I had nothing better to do. BBC3 were showing Reading, which was headlined by the Strokes. Preceding the boring New Yorkers though was Pulp. By all accounts [Read more]
