![Kingdom – Vertical XL [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/5007892_lg.jpg)
Damn…this is some serious ass dance music. Kingdom has done it yet again with his newest album Vertical XL that has recently been released through his very own label Fade To Mind. This is Fade To Mind’s 6 th official release and the label continues to gain a healthy amount of support. Kingdom and all of his Night Slug companions have always played a vital roll in guiding my preferences within the realm of dance music. I couldn’t stop myself from drooling after first hearing the edgy tribal heartbeat of Kingdom’s track “Bust Broke” for the first time years [...]

Yesterday Skrillex 's Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 aired, and it featured of 2 hours of jaw dropping tracks. This first track we're featuring is a rip of Dog Blood 's remix of A$AP Rocky's track "Wild For The Night". It's a healthy dose of filthy acid electro and amazing vocals edits, prepare for the second drop though it's nuts. Next we got "Untitled (This Much Power)", and it's an insane solo track from Skrillex. Last we got the 2 hour Essential mix click after the jump to view the whole track list. Cheers. [...]

Although they've only released a handful of tracks to date, "future-pop" duo AlunaGeorge are already creating a huge stir in the music world. They're already booking huge venues, including Philly's Made in America Festival at the end of August. In the meantime, AlunaGeorge just released a new video for their single, "You Know You Like It." The music video features the duo in an empty pool with a gang of strangely dressed dancers. While the song is reminiscent of 90s R&B pop, it features minimal electronic instrumentation more like dupstep and modern house. Check out the video below [...]

Jimi Hollis - Mangled Tape Memories I (2006) One of my favourite internet people David Firth has been awful quiet lately, he's set off on another travelling jaunt around europe this time. Shmae becaue he'd just revived the excellent Waller FM podcast on Fat-Pie. Still while we wait there's other pieces by him to digest, take his Locust Toybox work for example. Enjoy. During my sabbatical Astronauts, Etc. released a new track titled "sadie". Immediate impression leads me to compare it with "Sideswiped", but not in the way you'd expect. I mainly bring up "Sideswiped" to detail the differences. Anthony Ferraro seems to be a much varied artist and producer, at least when it comes to pinning down a certain sound or style for his project. "Sideswiped" was easily the most pop track he had done; recognizable chorus, beautiful atmosphere...really, it was the perfect wedding of his sound and a greater degree of accessibility. "sadie" is basically the bridge between the [...]
I was pretty speechless when I first heard this remix of "Spanish Sahara" by a young and extremely talented Alex Klinger. Actually, let me edit that sentence because it's been a few days, and I'm still rendered a little lost on what to say. It's pretty safe to say that I'm completely blown away by the beauty of this remix, and it's amazing that in the days of the internet and producers coming out left and right, that this kid still hasn't caught attention from labelheads yet. This young man is definitely one to watch for. [...]

Tv Girl - Laura Tv Girl are back with a new song and together comes their new EP, Lonely Women .The cheerful, irresistible sounds they provide establishes them one of the most exciting acts out there in the psych pop (with a little hip hop touch) genre. Laura couldn’t be something less than excellent, uptempo rhythms with tropical landscapes going back and forth into a Beck style inspired pop song that gives meaning to the words summer-ish song!!!! This is so [...]
//Jon Hopkins - Live At SKIF 14 Festival | video shot by Grigoriy Boyarskiy Open Eye Signal is truly the best tune on Hopkin's new record - it was a smart move to lead with that as the first single - but the entire album stands strong, and translates really well to a live electronic performance. Check out this 50 minute live set from SKIF in St. Petersburg. Where many live electronic acts fall flat, Hopkins manages to do so much with so little, keeping the music engaging and [...]

Following up his OWSLA release Ammunition pt 3 , Alex Metric 's new track ' Safe With You ' was premiered by Pete Tong on Radio 1 Tonight. A collab with Jacques Lu Cont and singer simply named Malin. I'm very surprised by the more commercial sounds but listening again and again, it strikes me that this is like SHM gone indie, the good kind. It's a big summer tune, and it will be released as both radio and dub rip. Nice one.

Maya Jane Coles – Everything (Breach Remix) Let’s get this weekend started people.

People love videogame music; at least that’s what I’ve been lead to believe by music journalism’s appreciation of 8-bit influenced acts like Adventure and sampling stalwarts Boards of Canada. When it comes to the music that actually accompanies videogames, critics are content to wave their hands, shout "nostalgia," and bask in the familiar comfort of Super Mario's chirps and bleep. As someone who truly loves videogame music, it bothers me that some electronic acts receive acclaim for work that was mastered on the soundtracks of Metal Gears, Final Fantasies, and Chrono what have you’s. As someone who writes music criticism, [...]
