Though Joe Satriani has taken a few hits recently, you just can't keep a good artist down. The multi-instrumentalist recorded a live album on May 27, 2008 at The Grand Rex Theater in Paris, France, and now Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock! will hit stores on February 2, 2010. Epic Records is releasing the two disc CD and DVD, and you can check out the full track list after the jump. If you're looking for more Satriani in a live setting, don't worry, he hits the road with the "Experience Hendrix" tour [...]

MUSIC NEWS - Check out Nneka' s video for " The Uncomfortable Truth ," off her debut USA release Concrete Jungle (out February 2, 2010 via Yo Mama/Decon/Epic Records). You don't likely know her, Nneka is a talented singer/songwriter/rapper who's likely to be one of the most "likely to catch on" artists of 2010. Her roots are in Nigeria and Germany, giving her a distinct transcultural sound. She's also bringing us a message of hope, love, and optimism, and isn't shy about being political; [...]
I don't think I immediately recognized the name Nneka, but apparently she's got some pretty famous fans (Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz and The Roots). That high-profile fanbase will help you score some pretty sweet things, like a record deal with Yo Mama/Decon/Epic Records. That's who will be releasing Nneka's US debut, Concrete Jungle , on February 2nd, 2010. Judging from the video of the song "Uncomfortable Truth" above, she'd deserve it even without the famous fans.

Bamboo Shoots, a scrubs to riches story.

MP3: Shudder To Think - Hit Liquor Shudder To Think have a live album out today called " Live From Home "... but Team Love didn't send us a promo of that. I've heard the live mp3 they posted of today's song and it sounds pretty great. So go find and pick that up. However, the best song ever is Hit Liquor, from the classic "Pony Express Record". Shudder To Think, and specifically Craig Wedren's vocals still sound strange and beyond their time even right now, [...]
No One’s First and You’re Next is by no means a Modest Mouse main course, but it does make for a tempting appetizer

Last week, it came to light that Jay-Z had bought the rights to his long-in-the-works album The Blueprint 3 back from Def Jam, the label where he served as president from 2004-2007. The album was his final commitment to his Def Jam contract, and he's now free to put it out on his Live Nation-backed imprint Roc Nation. In the past 24 hours, two stories regarding the fate of both Blueprint 3 and Jay's newly minted label have emerged, with one saying that Jay is going to partner with Epic Records and another claiming that he's [...]

![Sony Music Thinks Writing An Annoying James Blunt Song Counts As Executive Experience [Epic's Fail]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1503731_lg.jpg)
Proving that learning something from previous mistakes isn't really the way the corporate world works, Sony is hiring British musician Amanda Ghost (not to be confused with her band, Amanda Ghost) to run Epic Records , home of Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Jennifer Lopez, Sara Bareilles, and the Skunk Anansie catalog. Ghost seems to recognize that she lacks the general qualifications to be the president of a significant subsidiary of a global corporation, but hey, she'll bring the same creative verve that she brought to co-writing Jordin Sparks' "Tattoo" and James Blunt's "You're Beautiful"! [...]

In the spirit of mixing things up, I've got some easy 70's listening to tap your foot to. Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) was Looking Glass ' first and only #1 hit single, topping the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 1972. The song can be found on the band's debut self-titled album released by Epic Records . The song competed head to head on the charts with Elton John 's hit Crocodile Rock and Neil Young 's Heart of Gold . The success [...]
MUSIC NEWS - Denver rockers , The Fray have announced song details for their much anticipated second release, hitting February 3, 2009 on Epic Records. The initial single " You Found Me " has already gotten a great response from its digital release. The song came from problems that singer Isaac Slade's friends and family experienced, caused him to confront the age-old question of why bad things happen to good people. Another song, " Enough for Now ," deals with the response to his grandfather's death. The new " The Fray " release was produced by Epic VP of A&R Mike Flynn and Aaron Johnson, [...]
:: Rumors are flying about who will headline Glastonbury 2009 . My pick: Mel Torme accompanied by the Glen Miller Orchestra . :: There have been layoffs at Epic Records and Last.fm. People losing their jobs in the music industry?!?! How absurd. This report must be an error. :: Destroy the Runner has a new drummer . :: At least NME's top 50 albums of the year is better than Rolling Stone's. Then again, that's not saying much. :: Stumped [...]

Prior to their historic trip to Japan in the spring of 1978, Cheap Trick was just another hard-working mid-western band. They had released two albums, 1977’s incredible Cheap Trick and it’s poppier follow-up In Color . Both had won over critics, but, per usual, not the masses. As a result they opened for a slew of the era's biggest money-makers ( Queen , Kiss , Boston ) but only played theater sized venues when out on their own. Sans a hit and with a couple of major label albums already in the can, [...]
