Your second? favorite Canadian, Weakerthans frontman John K. Samson , has launched his new video for "Longitudinal Centre." The song and video come from his newly released album, Provincial which contains newly recorded versions of songs from Samson's previous two acclaimed EPs, City Route 85 [7 inch] and Provincial Road 222 alongside a number of new tracks.

The National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) will award their annual Independent Spirit Award for 2012 to Epitaph Records founder and Bad Religion guitarist/songwriter Brett Gurewitz. Less than 6 months after the release of his last album, it appears that Frank Turner has already begun working on a new one. On Friday the 20th of January he tweeted the following message: 'Long day of demoing. 15 new songs of varying quality down. Time for a curry and a pint.' Based on this tweet alone it's a little unclear if these songs will be 'Frank Turner' songs or songs for his new hardcore project. Turner's last album, England Keep My Bones [...]

Continuing with the currently recording news, Massachusetts-based hardcore/metal band Converge will enter guitarist Kurt Ballou's Godcity studios in Salem, Massachusetts this week to begin recording their upcoming Epitaph Records release, tentatively called All We Love We Leave Behind . This album, due out in late spring/early summer, will be the follow-up to 2009's Axe to Fall .

Off With Their Heads frontman, Ryan Young, recently underwent surgery on his throat. Social Distortion have begun announcing dates in March and April as the long-running band hits Western Canada and parts of the US. The run will feature support from Toadies and Riverboat Gamblers on two dates.

British singer/songwriter, Frank Turner , has added more dates to his previously announced tours with Social Distortion and Dropkick Murphys . The first leg of the tour Turner will be with Social Distortion then joining Dropkick Murphys for the second half . Epitaph Records has announced their first signing of 2012, Los Angeles-based The Ghost Inside . The band formed in 2007 and released Fury And The Fallen Ones and Returner . The band is described as a " heavy melodic hardcore band " and are currently recording their yet untitled Epitaph debut with Jeremy Mckinnon (of A Day To Remember) producing. Every Time I Die are premiering the song, "Underwater Bimbos From Outer Space," from their forthcoming new album. The record is titled Ex Lives and is due out March 6, 2012 via Epitaph . It is the follow-up to New Junk Aesthetic which was released in 2009.
