With Washed Out's 2011 debut album, Within and Without, proving a resolute success we are always eager to more from Ernest Greene and his band of synths, bleeps and dreamy soundscapes. Which all works out perfectly as his new cut, which comes courtesy of a Phillips advertising campaign called 'Sound of Creation', is exactly that. A gorgeous instrumental track, this washes over you over the course of its three-and-a-half minutes. Whets the appetite for more music from Greene.

Ernest Greene's ( Washed Out ) newest track, "The Sound of Creation," may have been commissioned by Philips the electronics giant, but it belongs in Phillips the museum — because this dreamy three-minute soundscape is a work of Art with a capital A. It's also Gorgeous with a capital G. Indie-meets-industry collaborations don't always produce these kinds of results. But in this case, we can thank both Greene and Phillip's The Sound of Creation campaign for a gem. Enjoy. MP3: Washed Out - "The Sound of Creation"

Después de varios meses de no saber nada de el, Ernest Greene y su proyecto Washed Out están de regreso con el video de "A Dedication" el nuevo sencillo de su disco del año pasado Within and Without . Enjoy.

After completing a graduate-level education in library sciences but failing to find work as a librarian, what do you do? If you’re Ernest Greene, you move back home to rural Georgia and start producing music out of your studio apartment, that’s what. Under the stage name Washed Out , Greene quickly became an indie-synthpop darling, catching the attention of the blogosphere with lo-fi tracks posted to his Myspace page. Building off of this blog buzz in 2009, he threw one of his first shows ever at a massive house party in New York – a year later, he was [...]

No, not an ad for American Eagle Outfitters. Just Reselect gettin' all sexy-like. New Music Monday this week brings the atmospheric, dream-like sounds of Washed Out, which, in the same fashion as Tune-Yards , is actually the stage name of Georgia native Ernest Greene (a name that on its own could only have worked in the realm of bluegrass - and speaking of which, look for an Earl Scruggs tribute song tomorrow). Anyone who has watched IFC's comedy skit show Portlandia has heard the music of Washed Out - the [...]

You know it's a bad sign when an interview with a chillwave artist starts out with "THIS GUY IS THE CHILLEST EFFING GUY ON THE PLANET." That's my favorite part about SXSW , there's not only a bunch of buzzbands who don't even play good music everywhere, but there's even more 'bullshit journalists' who are half-assing interviews with people they don't know for the sake of generating content to try to keep a job in an industry that is dying, mainly because there's college kids who will do a better job of it, but more importantly be ENTHUSIASTIC [...]
Washed Out just stopped by downtown Rock Island, Illinois to record a Daytrotter session. The result can be downloaded for free here. In addition, talented artist Eibatova Karina did a video for an unreleased track called Flower Anthem which you can watch here:

The travelling music performance series "The Black Cab Sessions" which typically is filmed on locale in London is now starting off in various American locations. The first episode features Ernest Greene of Washed Out , performing his version of "New Theory” while in the backseat of a black cab in Athens, Georgia. Tyicallly you have a few band members and instruments crammed into the back seat, here, Ernest takes the simple approach using just an iPad and a sound sensitive cabin.

Daytrotter, a menudo recibe a artistas destacados y los invita a grabar una sesión exclusiva, ya han contado con la presencia de: The Ting Tings, Bombay Bicycle Club, Nikki Lane, The National, Wilco, Bon Iver… A esta impresionante lista, se suma el músico de chillwave Ernest Greene, mejor conocido como Washed Out . Washed Out's performance in Japan reinforced an idea of cardinal importance: that music is truly the tie that binds us all together even in our loneliest hours.

NO.9 WASHED OUT - WITHIN AND WITHOUT If 2011 was a year in which chillwave became a legitimate, if not mainstream genre, then Washed Out's Ernest Greene must have been its poster boy. Sepia-toned images complemented the CV of a bedroom artist with a sound that was intertwined with those hazy, fuzzy images. Throughout Within and Without woozy synths and blips stretch out over programmed beats and a reverbed, airy vocals to create a blissed-out dance groove that is every bit as pop as it is chillwave. Its artwork of lovers sprawling [...]

We've already shed light on Washed Out's newest single release, Amor Fati , and it's stunning b-side "Call It Off." Also packed into the release are two clever remixes of the a-side; one from hip-hop producer Clams Casino, and the other from our favorite all-female dream pop trio Au Revoir Simone . The result is a muted, breezy retelling of one of Summer's most inspiring tracks. Grab it below. MP3: Washed Out - "Amor Fati (Au Revoir Simone Remix)"
Earlier this year Ernest Greene released his debut album under the moniker Washed Out , on which he placed danceable electro grooves with hazy swathes of synth and reverb and became one of a handful of artists championing "chillwave". The gorgeous Amor Fati was always destined to be a single and earlier this month it finally got its moment to shine on 123. Released alongside it were these two beauties: the brand new Call It Off and a muffled, thumping remix of the original track courtesy of Clams Casino. Listen below. [...]

Tweet With a debut album lined up for the 28th of this month, Pinemarten has released a little taster of what we can expect. The biggest shift in his sound since we last mentioned him is a much more prominent use of vocals - we might not know his surname, but at least we know what he sounds like. Specifically, that's somewhere between the Stateside chill-wave of Ernest Greene , and the retro ambiance of UK acts like Chad [...]

This new track from Georgia's Washed Out will feature as the B-side to upcoming single Amor Fati , out 14 November. Continuing very much in the delicate, synth-pop vein of recent album Within And Without , Call It Off is slightly more dance orientated, with even more emphasis placed on the electro inspired hooks and reverb soaked vocals. As always with Washed Out , the percussion section is exaggerated and builds throughout the track, maintaining a steady, wholesome feel. Check out Call It Off below. [...]
