Flying Lotus has been killing it with his collaborations as of late, delivering one of the best listens of the summer with " Between Dreams ". If this summer has proved anything, it's that FlyLo is infinitely expanding his creativty and experimentation. "See Thru To U" is a perfect example of this. The cut features Erykah Badu , and sees the two exploring a sprawling, African-inspired soundscape, rife with rhythmic drumming and simplistic, groovy basslines. The first single from 'Until The Quiet Comes', the upcoming album of producer extraordinaire Flying Lotus. This track hints at a more refined, mellow approach to production from the LA man, who's previous more experimental sounds have given him many accolades. Perhaps this is where it has all been builing up to, a discovery of sounds before determining which path he wishes to travel. The silky voice of Erykah Badu partners FlyLo's instrumentation (which also uses the unmistakable Thundercat - a Brainfeeder label signee - on the bass) and this is a precursor to a collaboration album in [...]

Erykah Badu 's powerful and resourceful voice lends itself to the Roberta Flack classic, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" as part of a collaboration with The Flaming Lips entitled The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends released on vinyl for Record Store Day 2012. That's not actually Erykah naked in the tub, it's her lovely sister Nayrok.

The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends , the Oklahoma band's Record Store Day release, is an interesting piece of music. The Flaming Lips are known as experimental in their music and outspoken outside of music, so seeing their name next to Kesha and Chris Martin inspires a double take. Second looks aside, what you see is what you get from the collaborative album, which seemed to be the band finding the most unexpected names to work with them.
